  1. He kept it out and at the end of the day that's all that matters!
  2. Will never happen. As you say, his wage demands would be too high, and add to that the fact that he's too old for us.
  3. Didn't look like a 4-4-2 system last night. They started up like so . . . --------------------- Davis ------------------- James ------ Lancashire ------ Perry ------ Mills ---------------- Cork ----- Surman ------------ McGoldrick ---------- Lallana ------------ Robertson -------------------- Pekhart ------------------- Subs: Forecast, BWP, White, Patterson, Skacel
  4. I liked the rip-off of the Ronaldo song sung for Dave McGoldrick! He plays on the left, he plays on the riiiiiiight! That Dave McGoldrick, makes your team look ****e! Good stuff.
  5. First class strike from Robertson tonight; a fine way to mark his debut. As well as the goal, he also put in a good performance. He used his strength really well and put in a fantastic shift for the team. Good stuff all round and I look forward to seeing what more he has to offer!
  6. Have noticed that former Burnley manager, Steve Cotterill, has been watching our home games recently and got me wondering if he's doing any scouting . . . Does anyone know if he's employed by a club at the minute? Be interesting to see what players he is looking at too. Lallana and/or Surman are probably the safe bets! Also, I saw our fishy friend Joe Jordan again tonight. He's been about the place a few times in recent weeks also, so it's obvious 'Arry has sent him down here to see if there's anything worth bidding for. I don't think I could bare to see any of our youngsters head down the road, with Cranie being the exception. Hardly did him any good after all!
  7. Good win, good performance and generally a good night! Special mention to Robertson who looks very useful. He has a real good work ethic and looks very strong when it comes to holding the ball up. Fantastic debut goal too! Lancashire looked solid enough at the back. I thought he was very assured and composed on the ball and looks like he's right up there in Poortvliet's plans now. Got to start Olly and Perry together for Cov away. If we can get a settled defensive partnership then things will start to take shape. A few clean sheets in recent matches proves just that. Kelvin was in fine form once again. Made a couple of absolutely fantastic saves and you could even go as far to say that he kept us in it at times. Without him we'd be in some serious trouble this season! Never thought I'd say this but fingers crossed we can keep hold of him come January! Lallana was his usual self. The boy has some serious talent and is without doubt the next big thing to roll off the SFC youth conveyor belt. I noticed there were a few scouts and coaches watching from the Director's Box this evening, and one can only wonder who their focus of attention was on . . . All in all, a top draw evening. Thoroughly enjoyed the match, a great result and a good performance too. Lets hope we can kick on from here, take the confidence from tonight's result and get another 3 points at Coventry.
  8. Saints to win 2-1. It's about time we got a home victory under our belts.
  9. Paul Williams. Came in on a free if my memory is correct and did a top job at the back for us. Was a calming influence and very much and unsung hero.
  10. Assuming Gillett, Schneiderlin, Svensson and Stern all miss out, then I'd go for the following . . . ---------------------- Davis -------------------- James ------ Lancashire ---- Perry ---------- Mills -------------- Wotton ----- Cork ---------------- McGoldrick ---------- Lallana ------------- Surman -------------------- Pekhart --------------------- Subs: Forecast, Davies, Thomson, BWP and Robertson
  11. Just a quick question really. Does anyone have any idea when these 3 will be deemed fit enough for selection? I think we could do with having a look at Gasmi as we need a bit of cover for Lallana in the hole.
  12. Good result today and made even better by keeping a clean sheet. Full credit to the 'boysh'. Lets not get too carried away on here though, but enjoy the victory none the less!
  13. I don't mean to be cynical but I don't believe Jan tried signing him before. To me it just seems like a comment to try and prove that he is making the transfer decisions.
  14. As it says on the tin really. Jason Euell is appearing on Soccer AM tomorrow so might be worth getting up for. Be interesting to hear what he has to say about the goings on at Saints and how he is doing with his injury. http://www.socceram.com/story/0,21644,13873_4198679,00.html
  15. Jan can't really win can he? If he didn't own up and admit his mistake then people would be saying he's making excuses and that he should just be honest. Now he is being honest and he's still being slated. Personally, I think it's really refreshing to hear a manager talk so openly to the press and fans alike.
  16. I think this is a bit of a weird one. Did anyone really see this coming? I guess Dyer's attitude isn't good enough and by signing a new deal in the summer it just guarantees us a fee when he does move on. Maybe a move is best suited for both parties and it will be interesting to see how this Robertson lad does.
  17. I'd choose Hammill over BWP in truth. I know AH got quite alot of stick from fans during his time here but he had spells where he looked like a really useful player. I still believe he has potential and the problem may lie with his attitude and that he tried to take on one too many players.
  18. We'll win 2-1. With everyone predicting we'll lose and doubting whether we can compete in this division, expect to see 3 points coming our way. It may not be the best of performances, but players, manager and fans alike would take any kind of win right about now. This win will then be followed by people claiming we are actually really good and could still make the playoffs. You got to love football!

Not sure who those two were but I did notice that the Ipswich and former Saints scout Simon Hunt was present once again. That's now the third time I've seen him there this season! My thoughts are that he is looking at Surman and/or Lallana and may even be trying to talk to Rudi about a switch come January.

    Paul Wotton

Mills found himself up against a very pacey winger and considering it was his debut, I thought he did very well. After a shakey start, he came into the game the more it progressed and did a good job. He gets up well to win headers too considering he's relatively small. After that performance, I think he's put himself forward as a potential starter at LB.
  21. Pretty football, retained the ball well but lacking in the final third. We need to have more of a cutting edge up top and I still think we're trying to find the solution to this. Special praise for Wotton today too. I thought he looked very solid and reliable playing at the back. Gets my vote for MOTM.
  22. I was a little concerned with James' positioning during yesterday's game. He gets caught out quite often and makes us look vulnerable when defending. Having said that, he is good going forward but it's clear to see that he isn't a natural RB.
  23. It was very annoying when the fans got on the back of players for passing the ball backwards in my opinion. The alternative is to just lump it up top and we'd probably lose the ball by doing that. You need to be patient and wait for an opening, just look at Arsenal's goal at the weekend against Blackburn.
  24. A good performance with the points to prove it. Saints to win 2-1. It's about time everything came together.
  25. Can't see the point in playing Skacel unless his head is right and he's totally committed to the cause. IF he is deemed as physically and mentally fit, then I'd put him in at LB and push Surman foward.
