Hockaday will be a bigger loss than people expect should he get the Swindon job. As a coach, he is very highly thought of and the youngsters in the team are big fans of him. In fact, he tends to have more of an input with the goings on at St Mary's than people would imagine.

Does make for interesting reading, particularly the bit about how many clean sheets we've kept. I do believe that this idea has potential, but the lack of funds and the possible loss of key players in January makes it very hard. Only time will tell if this Dutch gamble is a success. Having said that, what do we have to achieve for it to be considered a success? Surely survival is the aim?

Have heard from a very reliable source that Saturday is judgement day as far as Colin Calderwood's Forest future is concerned. Should they lose, he is likely to be given the boot with Billy Davies having already been approached about the job. This will no doubt add a bit more spice to an already vitally important game. Lets hope Saints play their part in getting CC the sack!
-
I'd imagine Davis would be worth around 750K as his contract is up at the end of the season and he's no spring chicken. IMO Drew should be worth around £2.5m but I fear we won't get anywhere near that should he leave. Here's hoping though. As for Lallana, based on potential and the fact he's a young, English talent, I'd say about £3m. Once again though, I doubt we'll get that.

If Euell wanted to stay at Saints, would it not be completely out of the equation for him to negotiate a new contract on a lower wage? I see Kuqi of Palace is looking to do something similar to remain at the club. Our players know how tight for cash we are at the minute, and they'd still be on big wages in comparison to those in other professions. Too much to ask or a realistic option? Hmm . . .

I have absolutely no problem with this whatsoever. If people wish to protest then that is perfectly fine, just so long as their actions don't have an adverse effect on the team's performance on the pitch. If this were to happen, Lowe and co. would get the message and the players would know THE FANS are right behind them.
-
Yes. Don't know what I'd do at 3pm on a Saturday otherwise!
-
I think fans have every right to protest against Lowe if they feel that's right to do so. However, doing it during the game is NOT going to help improve the performance on the pitch. For the 90 minutes, we need to be right behind the boys from the off, show them our support and sing our hearts out. If we do that, you'll see players running that extra yard and playing with pride and passion.

Credit to Cork, he really seems to wear his heart on his sleeve. I doubt there were many players wanting to speak to the media after the game but fair play to him. Is it not a bit concerning that one of the more dedicated players seems to be a loanee? If we could keep hold of him on a permanent basis then that would be top draw.
-
If it is the same injury that's been keeping him out then there is cause for concern. A hamsting injury can prove to be very troublesome so we're probably best off giving him as long as needed to recover. No point in rushing him back again otherwise it'll just get worse.

I actually believe that Poortvliet is a decent coach, it's more to do with the circumstances he's having to work in. So as far as the question is concerned, yes, I do have faith in Jan.

We simply HAVE to win next Saturday. We are fortunate to still be 4 points away from the drop zone after today. I truly believe the players benefit from having a noisy following and so we need to get behind them for this MASSIVE game. Tickets have been reduced, so should encourage a few extra to go. We need to turn out in force. We have shown we CAN play good football at times, we just need to find some consistency. As hard as it can be, we HAVE to keep the faith and support the boys. Get behind the team, get to St Mary's next Saturday and cheer them on to 3 valuable points.
-
I hear it's quite wet and windy at the game. Any chance of it being abandoned?
-
With a large majority on here saying they wouldn't care if Drew left, can I assume that should he leave, we won't have any negative threads on here blaming Lowe/Wilde/finances/Poortvliet/Wotte etc? After all, he's over-rated, wouldn't be missed, not a key member of the squad and half the player Lallana is. . .

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/3969888.Bournemouth_chance_for_Idiakez_/ Good luck to him I say! Looks as though they're after him to replace the retired Anderton. Not sure how many appearances they'd get out of Idiakez should he sign though. At least their physio will be busy!
-
Great news that Cork is happy to extend his loan here, now it's down to the club to strike a deal. Cork has been brilliant for us so far this season and we'd do well to keep hold of him. His versatility has been a massive help for us too, and he seems to do a job wherever he plays. If we were able to sign him permanently one day then that would be even better! Won't hold my breathe though.
-
I rate Surman and would be gutted to see him go. At the same time, I wouldn't hold it against him as he has stuck by us and could easily have moved on by now. Like he says, he's played his fair share of Saints games and has been a good servant to the club. I don't think we could stand in his way should a decent offer from a Prem team come in, especially considering our financial situation.

Has Gasmi touched the ball yet for Saints ?
Bailey replied to Raven on the wing's topic in The Saints
Great post. And yes, he touched it after coming on against Palace. Got tackled shortly after mind. -
After last night's performance, expect Euell to be back in the side for the Burnley game!
-
It looks as though I am in the minority on this one! I actually think Robertson has done OK for us thus far. Whilst he hasn't been banging the goals in, he does hold the ball up well which brings others into play. Sometimes playing as a lone striker means you don't always get the praise you deserve. More often than not, your contribution goes un-noticed. I like to call it 'the Emile Heskey' role. I'd be more than happy if we swapped Dyer for Robertson on a permanent basis come January.
-
I was just as surprised as Jan after this performance. Just as we looked as though we were starting to put a half decent run together, out of the blue we perform like we did last night. I feel sorry for Jan, because if he said, "It will come, we're close to being a good team." then he'd be criticised for trying to pull the wool over our eyes. When he does actually say it how he is, he is still slated by some. I for one, am glad that we have a manager who says it how it is and gives an honest account of the game. How many people on here agree with him too? Alot of our players did look as though they were lacking motivation, and if Jan says he's going to have some choice words with some players then good on him.
-
Good to see that Gorre has been dedicated enough to work on a non-contract basis thus far! Also might be a useful addition as he has experience of the lower divisions. Welcome aboard Dean!
-
The club should refund the people that have booked your season ticket seats or offer to move them elsewhere. There's no way you shouldn't be able to sit in your seats! To be fair to the ticket office, they are NORMALLY very efficient and quick to deal with any issues but obviously not in this instance. Be sure to keep us informed of any updates!
-
I think it's harsh to slate McGoldrick based on tonight's performance. To be fair to him, nobody did well tonight and as a team we were poor. Still, I have to admit I do find DMG very frustrating. However, he does have his moments (Preston away) which makes him hard to drop.
-
I would like to put this down as 'a bad day at the office' but it really was a poor performance all round. With recent results, I thought we were making slow progression, but then this. I haven't voted for MOTM as I don't think anyone stood out particularly. Le Tiss summed the game up perfectly by saying we played pretty football in the wrong part of the pitch and were toothless going forward. Lets hope we can pull a rabbit out the hat at Burnley on Saturday, as we could certainly do with the points! Wouldn't be surprised to see some major changes for that game too, as I thought we looked pretty tired tonight, which is to be expected I guess.
