Was a solid performance from McGoldrick last night. He's definitely been one of our better performers of late, and long may it continue. He's working hard for the team, chasing balls down and putting himself about. Fair play to him.

I have to admit, I agree with the original post. We should be deducted 10 points in all honesty. Southampton Leisure Holdings is very much Southampton Football Club, with the only difference being the names of each company! I'm sure this 'forensic investigation' that the Football League are going to conduct will prove this too. How would you feel if you were a Luton fan? Or even a Bournemouth fan? The Football League have come down very hard on them, it would seem so unjust for us to 'get away with it' so to speak. I know our circumstances are slightly different, but the principal is still the same. I'd be very surprised if we didn't get a points deduction. I've accepted that we'll be in League One next season, and so our league position this season will only decide whether or not we begin life in League One on -10 or 0 points. Should we stay up this season, the Football League are likely to impose a 10-point deduction, which would effectively relegate us to the third tier of English football for the first time in god knows how long. If we get relegated this season, then the chances are, the 10-point penalty will be imposed at the beginning of next season, resulting in Southampton FC starting on -10 in League One. Bad news either way you look at it, but all this is assuming a deal is sorted to keep the club alive of course!

Think of it like this . . . If we stay up, we would then get 10 points deducted by the Football League, and as a result we'd be relegated to League One. HOWEVER, we would then be able to start life in the third tier of English football with 0 points. If we get relegated this season, we will still be deducted 10 points, but it will be imposed on us at the start of next season. This means that we would begin the season in League One on -10. So basically, we're fighting for the right to start on 0 points next season!

Top draw from the travelling fans tonight. Was up there with Reading away this season. Hopefully any potential investors saw how many fans made the journey tonight to support the lads. Very proud to be in that number! COYR!

After being 2-1 down I'd take that. Not the worst result in the world, and keeps us in touch of those around us. Saeijs' free-kick was something special. Fantastic effort! Davis should have saved their first goal but you can't blame him. If it wasn't for him, we'd already be bottom this season. Special mention to the travelling fans. Phenomenal support! Full credit to everyone.

Although James has been criticised this season, yesterday's game just showed how much he's improved, and how much we miss him when he's out the side! James will no doubt be welcomed back into the side at RB. Also, we lack a bit of bite in the middle with Gillett injured. Wotton tries but ultimately he's not quick enough and fails to have an impact. Although not as hard-working as Gillett, Morgan could prove to be more effective in the middle alongside Drew. Fingers crossed Holmes is fit to return too, as we have missed him big time. He's not afraid to have a go at players and take them on, and we were most dangerous yesterday when we went down the wings and attempted to get balls into the box. If we manage to do that, then Euell and Saga are likely to have a better game as they will have more balls to feed on. BWP looked lively when he came on, and although his goal was deflected, he took it very well. After that performance, I think he deserves the chance to play from the start and really show us what he can do. Saeijs was poor yesterday but he's been first-class apart from that. Hopefully he'll be back to his usual self against Watford, and both he and Perry will need to be in top form if we are to get anything from this game. With all that in mind, I'd go with the following . . . ------------------ Davis ----------------- James ----- Saeijs ----- Perry ----- Skacel BWP --- Schneiderlin --- Surman --- Holmes --------- Saganowski -- Euell ------------- Subs: Forecast, Liptak, Thomson, Wotton, McGoldrick Realistically though, I'd expect McGoldrick to start, and that's fair enough as he was one of our better performers yesterday. Smith is likely to be on the bench too, as is BWP. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wotton continue in the middle of the park as well.

Was just wondering if anyone knows if there are still some travel club spaces available for the trip to Watford? Cheers in advance.

Not good. Have to admit, I'm not too downhearted about the defeat, as I've convinced myself that the Football League will impose a 10-point deduction on us anyway, so today's result will almost be irrelevant. However, if they choose not to, then today could be looked back on as the day that we really blew it. As for individual performances, I thought Davis, Perry, Saga and Euell were the only players to come out of the game with any credit. Saeijs was poor, as was Thomson, but I don't blame him so much. He's clearly not a RB and is being asked to do a very difficult job. Still, forever the optimist, if we win on Tuesday night at Watford, then we will be level on points with Norwich who sit fourth bottom. For how long though, remains to be seen. I've all but conceded that we'll be in League One next season, providing there is a next season, but IMO, it's just a case of whether we'll be starting on 0 points or -10. Could be an interesting few weeks or so. Hard I know, but lets keep the faith!

He didn't throw a punch, just pushed Parkinson in the chest. All very petty and just a bit of handbags. Nothing more.

Bit early for that just yet alpine. Lets see what comes of this interest first. As for now, lets focus on today's game and get behind the boys! COYR!!!

Article in The Sun/Re:Consortium,Euell & Davis forfit wages
Bailey replied to Tac-tics's topic in The Saints
Serious ****ing respect if this is true. Davis and Euell are acting as model pros and should be commended for their actions. COYR! -
Even the media department have had their job done for them on this one! Great idea. Lets hope the ticket office run with it!
-
It's going to be a bit of a surreal atmosphere IMO. Passion, desperation, desire and many other emotions likely to be on display. Lets just hope that for 90 minutes, all else is forgotten and we focus solely on the task in hand. 3 points tomorrow please lads. COOOOOOOOOOME ON YOOOOOOOOOU REEEEEEEDS!!!
-
I think that's a decent shout. I'd certainly be willing to pay double. Email the ticket office and inform us of their response. The more ideas us fans come up with, the better.
-
Much appreciated mate! Better make sure I get hold of these items now then! Will keep you all informed.
-
Ah right, well that's good to hear. Still, if anyone on here would be interested in the mentioned items, then I should be able to get my hands on them. Will let people know though.
-
Surely if everyone had this attitude then nothing would get done? If we don't find investment then it will be the 'little' bits of money that us fans raise that will keep the club going, all be it temporarily. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4266384.Richards_explains_why_he_has_joined_forces_with_Crouch/

Right guys, have got a little idea that could raise some funds for the club. I'm fortunate enough to know a current first-team player, and I asked him if he'd be able to get any signed memorabilia together to auction off on here to raise a bit of money. He said it shouldn't be a problem, and he'd see what he could do. Said maybe a couple of signed footballs and a signed shirt or something like that is possible. What I wanted to know, is who would be interested in stumping up a bit of cash for these items? Obviously I'd need to find a way to sort out logistics, but thought it would be a good idea to see what people's opinions are on it. So, what are your thoughts?

Wait a minute, Rewind for a second. Is Craig David serious about this? Personally, I reckon he was Born To Do It, but is he going to see it through and take it All The Way? I'm not so sure, it's 6 Of 1 Thing and half a dozen of another with him. Surely he's got some sort of Hidden Agenda? I hope someone has told him it will take longer than 7 Days to get the deal done? Would be quite good if he bought us out though, because then we could say, "Craig, SFC is Officially Yours!" Sorry, couldn't resist.

We'll never die! We'll never die! We'll keep the Saints flag flying high. Wherever you go, Be sure to know, We'll keep the Saints flag flying high! Sing it loud and proud tomorrow. COYR!

Maybe a wage cut is unfair and unrealistic, but perhaps they could give up a percentage of their wages for the remainder of the season? Would be a superb move by the players; they'd gain instant respect from the fans and would show they really do care.

We'll never die! We'll never die! We'll keep the Saints flag flying high. Wherever you go, be sure to know, We'll keep the Saints flag flying high! As fans, we have to do our bit. Pack out St Mary's, spend stupid amounts in the megastore on crap you don't even want/need. Drag your mates along to the game, big up the club to all your mates, stay positive and keep the faith! Now is the time to forget the past, unite as one and support the club. The existence of our beloved club is under threat. GET BEHIND THE SAINTS! COYR!!!

Yesterday MLT was on Gillette Soccer Special, and he said he'd been tempted in the past to get involved at Saints, especially when he sees just how bad we've been doing of late. A whole new board, Saints avoiding a points deduction, and MLT to take over as manager with Benali as assistant. It's what dreams are made of!

Part of me feels it would have been more beneficial if the club were just open and honest. They should have said to the fans earlier that they really, really need our help, support and money. Had they done so, I think more fans would feel inclined to attend games, buy merchandise and donate money somehow.
-
Good news I guess, providing he has gone for good. Something about this whole thing just doesn't sit right with me though . . . It says in the article that other board members have left too. Who else has gone? And should something be read into the fact that David Jones is still on the board?
