  1. Ryan Smith about to come on. Wonder who he will replace? EDIT - Lallana off, Smith on.
  2. Surman has dropped to left-back, with BWP going to left-midfield. Saga on up top to replace Skacel. Not quite 3-4-3, but at least Wotte's made a change. Come on Saints! Give us fans something to cheer about!
  3. No need just yet, we've already got the 'Torres-like' BWP on the pitch.
  4. Reporting on SSN that Varney's goal was 'at least a yard offside'. When you're down at the bottom, that's the way it goes I suppose.
  5. Oh and just to be picky, it's Davies and not Davis!
  6. McGoldrick's strike from the weekend was much better . . .
  7. Well from what derry is saying, I'd say the fee is between 250K and 500K. If it's enough to 'keep the club going' then it must be around that amount. Shame really as Dyer has potential which he's started to reach whilst on-loan at Swansea. He never really got going here at Saints, but on the other hand he wasn't really given a fair run in the side.
  8. Have got a pair of Theo's old boots from his time at Saints, signed too. Was contemplating selling them and wondered if anyone might be interested on here? Haven't decided if I will actually get rid of them for definite, but if there is a tempting offer on here then it might convince me!
  9. To have sold 15,000 already is a good sign. I really really hope that fans realise how big this game is. Could potentially be our last ever home match, so there's no reason not to attend! Would be great to see a packed St Mary's once again too.

    Lee Holmes

Anyone know how he's getting on with his recovery? I know he was substituted during the latest reserve outing as a precaution, but haven't heard anything since. I can't see him making a return to the first-team this season to be honest.
  11. That's the one! Good work. Now, lets begin . . .
  12. There's another contender for a caption competition just after that. It's the one with Rudi taking a ride on one of the Palace players. I'd post it up on here if i knew how. No doubt someone who knows what they're doing will!
  13. But at least we'd be starting life in League One on 0 points as opposed to -10. Every cloud . . .

    Wotton

Not the best ability wise but you can't fault his effort and commitment to the cause. I've never been his biggest fan, but he had a decent game today and protected the back four very well. Got some strong tackles in as you'd expect and was solid and reliable when called upon.
  15. I had a good look but couldn't see him. Mike Richards was there with his Saints scarf around his neck, which is fair enough considering he donated £1,000 of his own cash. Leon and Lawrie returned to their box above the Director's box, but other than that, I didn't really see any familiar faces.
  16. James is definitely our most improved player. Took him a while to adapt to his new position, but considering it's his first season in the first-team, he's done very well. I realised how much we rely on him when Thomson stepped in whilst James was suspended. Made a massive difference! I've criticised James in the past, but he really has come on leaps and bounds. Fair play to him.
  17. 3 more points against Wednesday and then I would really start to feel that this is do'able . . .
  18. I actually thought the attendance was pretty decent after a disappointing defeat against Charlton. The atmosphere was good and the players responded to a lively crowd. Fair play to all today. Hopefully we can get at least a point against Sheffield Wednesday, and then fingers crossed for a sell-out for what could be our last home game ever!
  19. The 30-point deduction imposed on Luton was a joke. The Football League pretty much killed the club and never gave them a chance of staying up. I was very much hoping they'd pull off a mini-miracle by beating the drop, but it wasn't to be. Here's hoping they make a swift return to the Football League!

    Lallana

Lallana's best peformance in a long while. As I said on another thread, Lallana showed today why there were/are Premiership clubs looking at him. He was up for it, made himself available and played some good balls too. Not afraid to tackle either which is a rarity in an attacking midfielder. Full credit to him today, now keep it up!
  21. A crucial win and fully deserved. Palace are safe for another season, and they played like a mid-table Championship side with little to play for. We were by far the better side and but for some better finishing, the scoreline could have been alot more emphatic. I don't think any Saints player had a bad game, although I expected more from Surman. It wasn't through lack of effort though! Saeijs was back to his usual self after a disappointing game against Charlton, and I thought Wotton looked solid and dependable. Lallana showed why there were/are Premiership clubs sniffing around, with his first good performance in a long while. Much improved. Special mention to BWP too. Looked lively in attack and worked his socks off. Palace struggled to deal with his direct running and pace. All in all, a thorougly enjoyable game and a fully deserved 3 points. There is still alot of work to be done, but it's a start. 3 more points at Sheffield Wednesday, and I might just start to believe that we really can do this again . . .
  22. Wolves 4 - 1 Saints Wolves will naturally take their foot off the pedal, and they will concede a sloppy penalty which Paul Wotton will take AND score for once!
  23. So we have the new Robben in Holmes, our own version of Torres in Bradley Wright-Phillips and now Smith is being described as 'world class'. We'll walk this league! Seriously though, I can see what Wotte sees in Smith. He's quick, likes to run at defenders and has a good delivery on him. However, he's quite weak and gets pushed off the ball way too easily. He needs to improve his work rate but there definitely is potential there. I think Smith's attitude sometimes holds him back too, as he often looks a bit arrogant. Smith would have made more of an impact at Watford had he played down the left flank. He kept cutting inside onto his favoured foot and the Watford defence had him sussed out pretty quickly. I don't understand why we insist on playing a left-footed player down the right and a right-footed player on the left. Very frustrating! We are at our most dangerous when we get to the byline and swing some balls into the box, so why we play players on the wrong side, forcing them to cut inside, is beyond me! I reckon Saga would score more goals that way too, Euell as well, because there would be more for the strike duo to feed on.
  24. Looked quite lively when he came on I thought. Lacked service but still worked hard for the team. I'd like to see him start at Molinuex tomorrow to pick up his routine hat-trick!
  25. Hopefully it is just a minor setback. We could really do with a fully fit Holmes for the run-in.
