I'm always quick to defend Surman, but I have to admit, that made me laugh!
-
I wrote the above on another thread where people have been slating Surman. I just don't understand why so many of our fans don't rate him!

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5259459,00.html Watch him excel and prove all his critics on here how wrong they are.

Kelvin DAVIS you mean.

Confirmed on SSN that the 10-point deduction will take effect from next season. So that's two teams that the Football League have already punished. How many more will enter admin over the summer? I long for the day when all teams begin the season on a level playing field again!

Despite the fact that Surman is a local lad and a Saints fan, there comes a time when he needs to put his career ahead of his support for our club. If he wants to develop and improve as a player, then realistically he needs to be playing at a higher level than League One. Add to that the fact that we're in desperate need of money, then it seems almost inevitable that he will eventually leave. Reading are interested in him, of that I'm sure, and I have no doubt that Surman would excel under Coppell. People who criticise him on here really confuse me. He's proven in recent years that he's a good player with bags of potential, and I believe he'd start to realise that potential at a decent club such as Reading. In fairness to Drew, he's been playing in a poor side who arguably have been severly mis-managed in recent times. Whatever happens, I wish Surman all the best, and I look forward to him proving a large number of doubters on here wrong.

Should make for a good atmosphere. Still angry at Forest for retaining so many tickets. Whatever happens on the pitch, us Saints fans will no doubt make some noise and create a party atmosphere.

I don't get why people criticise Surman so much on here. He's clearly got potential, and he's proven in the past what a good player he is. Admittedly, he hasn't been in the greatest form of late, but he's been playing in a poor side who arguably, have been mis-managed for much of the season. If he does leave over the summer, which is likely in my opinion, then I look forward to Surman proving people wrong on here and getting back to his best at a new club.

. . . can't the 'fans consortium' being arranged by derry et al kick into action instead? Don't think I could bare the thought of Rupert returning.
-
Ooh great idea! I'd suggest it on the Facebook group too if I were you.
-
We haven't launched an appeal yet. The club is exploring the possibility of an appeal and then it would be up to the new owners to decide whether it's worth it.
-
If this consortium has been readying it's bid for the club for some time, it would explain why Cotterill has been at almost all of our home games in recent months.
-
Would be a massive boost if Kelvin stayed, but I won't hold my breath. He's been first-class all season and it would be brilliant if he remained with us in League One.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11724 An honest account on Saints' troubles. Sums up what the majority of us fans are thinking too, especially with his last sentence . . .
-
It's clearly a load of rubbish because we'd never get £5m for Lallana. Would love to be proved wrong though. Maybe a mini bidding war would put his price up a bit, but not that high.

Just been a mini-feature on this game on SSN. Interviewing Saints stars from past and present, all expressing their sadness at our plight. What I'd give to have the likes of Beattie, Oakley, Claus, Killer and Le Tiss in our side.
-
Spoke to his cousin recently and he said he was set to re-join Saints should we get relegated. Should point out this was prior to our points deduction too. As nice as his cousin was, not sure if I believe him on this one! Don't know whether Wotte would be trying to sign him, and no idea if we're in a position to sign players for next season at the minute.
-
The guy has been superb for us this season. Would love him to stay but it's unlikely. He'll have a number of decent offers to consider and you can't blame him for leaving if he does. He's been a credit to Southampton FC and one of the few positives to take from this season. I wish him all the best in the future, be that at Saints or elsewhere. Thanks Kelvin!

Wotton injury - the referee nearly had blood on his hands
Bailey replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Looked a nasty one and was very concerned for his well-being, especially with the fans running onto the pitch. Glad that he's going to be OK though, and I can only echo the thoughts of FF. The ref was poor yesterday and I was very disappointed with the way he dealt with the Wotton injury. Yet another committed performance from Wotton and although he's not the best player we have, you can't fault his effort. We could really use his leadership skills next season, and I have no doubt he'll prove to be a decent player for us.
