  1. Johnson only made my XI on the basis that there's no-one better - says it all, really! I'd genuinely rather have Clyne than him...
  2. Nothing to lose - experimental XI for me with one eye on the future. I'd go with... -------------- Hart -------------- Johnson -- Jones -- Cahill -- Shaw ----- Wilshere -- Chamberlain ----- Sterling ----- Barkley ----- Lallana ------------ Sturridge ------------
  3. That's quite funny for you, mate! ?
  4. I'd take Sinclair, especially for as little as £2.5m! He's a good player who - in the right environment & when managed correctly - can be a valuable asset. He'll be eager to get his career back on track, is a good age & we don't have anyone quite like him in our squad.
  5. Once Pochettino's future has been decided, I'm sure the Board will communicate with the players what the new 'project' entails. Until then, it's up in the air. Adam Blackmore's tweets are slightly concerning, however. We'll see!
  6. Still confident Poch will stay, Gemmel?
  7. Lallana's future still uncertain & unlikely to be sorted before the World Cup - he's currently sunning himself in Portugal before meeting up with England this weekend!
  8. Have heard from someone in the England camp that Shaw may well be going to the World Cup as England's first-choice left-back...
  9. A few years back, all the Academy lads shared a log-in too & were regular posters on here & Saints Forever. I used to get the odd snippet from a few of them from time-to-time, though that crop of talent are now largely plying their trade elsewhere in the Football League.
  10. Shaw has to go as backup to Baines. That said, LS looked every bit an international player today!
  11. I understand the new board are in favour of FFP.
  12. He's only saying what almost all of us are thinking - lose MoPo & some of our top talent will look to move on. If the manager stays & signs a new deal, it will show that we're still looking to progress & build on this season. Here's hoping it's the latter.
  13. Liverpool for me. Clinical & professional display. Chelsea a close second.
  14. I'd like to see Ward-Prowse come in alongside Schneiderlin, with Ramirez in behind Lambert.
  15. I have a spare ticket for tomorrow if anyone is interested? The old man can't make it, so happy for someone to use his ticket for free. Give us a shout if interested.
  16. Matt Mills is the one that sticks in my mind. While coming through the Academy, he was as good as any defender I've seen. Confident and composed, he was a fantastic ball-playing centre-half. He'd have been better served staying with us, getting some regular game time and learning his trade in the first-team, but it wasn't to be. A real shame he hasn't gone on to fulfil his potential.
  17. Davis; Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Fox; Ward-Prowse, Reed; Rodriguez, Osvaldo, Ramírez; Gallagher.
  18. This is a very fair and valid point.
  19. I'd let Rickie decide what he wants to do. I'd happily see him retire here - the guy is a Saints legend and he's earned the right to decide where his future lie. If he wants to stay, I'd be more than happy to keep him. Similarly, if he wants to go to play regular first-team football and to have one big, final pay-day, then £8m is a significant amount for a 32-year-old. Tough one. Head says deal, heart says no deal.
  20. The 'keepers amongst you would have noticed a few occasions yesterday when Davis was quick to come off his line to collect the ball on the edge of the area and nullify any potential danger. While this is relatively simple and to be expected from a 'keeper, Gazzaniga's decision-making is one of his weaknesses and there have been a handful of incidents in recent weeks where he's failed to come and collect, leading to a goalscoring opportunity for the oppo - take the Aston Villa game as case in point. Davis' distribution was also much improved, possibly the best I've seen from him. The back four looked a lot more settled with Davis in between the sticks and I expect him to continue until Boruc is back from injury.
  21. Tough game this one, but have a sneaky feeling we will win it. We're due a result at their place, aren't we?
  22. Big fan of Calum. If I was being extremely harsh on him, my only criticism from earlier in the season was that, while solid defensively, he didn't offer us a lot going forward. When we rely on our width from the full-backs, this is a key point to our attacking play but today, Chambers was fantastic. My MOM, without question.

    Boruc

Stoke error was excusable due to the conditions, but today was completely unacceptable. Boruc had five, maybe six opportunities to clear the ball before being dispossessed, while his distribution was woeful throughout. HOWEVER... He's been one of our best players over the course of the season, and has received praise from many neutrals for his performances to date. One, maybe two errors that have cost us doesn't change my opinion of him, but it's something he must eradicate - and fast!
  24. Solid, if unspectacular. Made a couple of poor decisions to give away two clumsy free-kicks but on the whole, and for someone who has played very little football this season, he equipped himself well. Fair play.
  25. Agree with this. Ramirez out, use the funds to sign someone of Lallana's ilk as a replacement - but who...?
