  1. Saints 2 - 0 Yeovil. Lambert to open the scoring on 51 minutes. Saints to wrap up the 3 points with Hammond notching on 76 minutes. Go put your money on it and thank me later.
  2. Sorry to be pedantic, but I wish people would get his name right. It's Jake Thomson, not Thompson!
  3. Good to see Papa Waigo getting on the scoresheet. Hopefully Gillett impressed the on-looking Pardew too. Interesting that Wotton wasn't included in the squad at all. Considering he's had little game time lately, I would have expected him to play tonight.
  4. Gillett could be one of the players leaving. He rejected a loan move to Northampton prior to the transfer window closing. Lancashire could be off to Hibs too whilst White and Gobern are available should any club fancy them on a temporary basis. Personally, I'd try and ship out Molyneux and Pulis as I can't see either of them getting near the first-team any time soon.
  5. Decent point and would have taken that before the game. Sounded as though we were on top for large spells of the game so it's just a shame we couldn't find that elusive second goal. Had we doubled our advantage then we probably would have gone on to win it but it wasn't to be. Quite positive after today though, now we just need to follow it up with 3 points against Yeovil.
  6. Forgot about James and Saga! Stick them on the bench in place of Wotton and Thomson. Sorted.
  7. Got to be this . . . Davis Thomas - Jaidi - Trotman - Harding Waigo - Hammond - Schneiderlin - Mills Lallana - Lambert Subs: Bialkowski, Perry, Wotton, Holmes, Thomson, Mellis, Paterson
  8. Ah right, wasn't aware of that. Well I wouldn't be surprised if he did join within the next couple of weeks, but as I understand it, Agyemang isn't overly keen on the move. We'll have to wait and see what happens with this one.
  9. Fair play to him. Hopefully he'll do well for himself there.
  10. I'd like to see Vokes here but with some of the names mentioned on the SkySports article, we don't stand a chance. Patrick Agyemang is looking more likely though. Lets wait and see what happens when the loan window re-opens.
  11. Fantastic news that he's been given clearance by the Italian FA. Can't wait to see how he does for us on Saturday. I'd be tempted to just throw him in from the start and see how he does.
  12. Can't argue with that. Harding has been superb since signing for us. Arguably Pardew's best signing thus far.
  13. I know this is random, but Dean Hammond runs exactly the same as Anders Svensson. Next time you see Hammond play, have a look and you'll see what I mean.
  14. We're a tad light up-front, and I still think we could do with a right-midfielder. However, Waigo could be the solution to both these problem areas, but as he's un-tried it's hard to say how his move here will work out. Fingers crossed he's a success though. I also think we're short of options at right-back. Should Thomas pick up an injury, we don't have much cover and I'm not convinced by Lloyd James in that position. Murty is likely to be out for some time so maybe a loan acquisition wouldn't be out of the question? Other than that, we're looking pretty decent on paper. Our first XI is strong, especially for this division, and with a little more time, I have total faith in Pardew to start getting results on the pitch.
  15. Great appointment. Downes will be a firm favourite with the fans and players alike, and he has a wealth of experience in the game, especially at this level. Good to see that Pards has been able to strengthen his backroom staff even further too. Everything is taking shape both on and off the field, albeit slowly!
  16. So long as Pardew has given this move the green light, then it can only be a good thing.
  17. I think you could be right. George Boyd cost Peterborough 250K when he signed from Stevenage, and that was a record at the time. Not sure if that's been broken since though.
  18. I've been pretty critical of Paterson in the past but to compare him to Ali Dia is very unfair. He's young and learning his trade. Admittedly he isn't ready for first-team football yet, but he COULD develop into a half-decent player at this level. I'm not convinced by him at all, but the original poster is slightly over-critical in my opinion.

    Boo Boys

It's just a bit of frustration being vented by the fans, and understandably so. In fairness, the fans were right behind the team from start to finish yesterday and at no point did anyone get booed during the game. If people want to boo at the end of the match, then they are well within their rights, but I won't be joining in. The players didn't pick up the win yesterday, but it wasn't through lack of effort. Every Saints player on that pitch gave their all and you can't ask any more than that. To boo them was, in my opinion, a tad harsh. On another day, we would have won 3-0 but it wasn't to be.
  20. I have to admit, presenting Waigo to the crowd pre-match was a bit cringe-worthy as we haven't actually seen him play yet. However, from the looks of it, he relished the fact that the fans have taken to him already and I got the impression that he will enjoy the responsibility of being one of our key players. Time will tell, but I'm hoping that Papa will come good for us.
  21. But you're expecting us to win now, so surely we'll lose? Seriously though, I thought Pards was spot-on with his tactics today, and he hit the nail on the head with his post-match interview too.
  22. Trotman is by no means a footballing centre-half, but he certainly wins his fair share of headers. He's a good player to have in the side, especially in this division. If he continues to play as he did today, then I'd like to see him stay here until the end of the season at the very least.
  23. Idiakez was pretty decent to be fair.
  24. He'll prove to be a key player for us this season. Makes himself available, isn't afraid to get stuck in and likes a shot from distance too. Would like to see him and Schneiderlin in the middle and I wouldn't be surprised if Pards went with that duo for the Charlton game.
  25. Haha! Absolutely brilliant. Imagine the Northam signing that!
