  1. Wasn't too impressed with Antonio's debut but willing to give him another shot. He has pace and works hard, but his delivery and first touch were poor throughout. A little unlucky to be substituted at half-time too.
  2. Good luck to the lad. He won't ever make it here at Saints but maybe he can prove himself at Lincoln. Hopefully the move will be made permanent as he doesn't seem to have any future at St. Mary's.
  3. Pardew has said he's just going to take a look at him so we'll see what happens. No harm in getting him in to see if he's got what it takes. If it doesn't work out, he'll go back to Reading, end of story.
  4. Fair comment. My personal opinion was that their goal was a decent strike, but I can see your point of view. Maybe Davis shouldn't have been beaten from his position, but Rooney was very clever and his finish was top draw.
  5. Allocated squad number 36 so he could be named on the bench yesterday. A good, young prospect who was no doubt included just to gain some matchday experience. One for the future.
  6. Only had one game since joining us and that was against Bristol Rovers. In his defence, he was left totally exposed from the moment Andy Williams came on, but other than that, he's been first-class for us. He's very reliable and does a sound job defensively. He likes to get forward too and supports the wide player brilliantly. Arguably our best signing this season, especially considering we snapped him up on a free transfer.
  7. Kelvin Davis Dan Harding Radhi Jaidi Graeme Murty Dean Hammond Morgan Schneiderlin Rickie Lambert Adam Lallana All good enough for the Championship IMO. It's a decent spine to build a team around too.
  8. Have been a fan of Lallana from day one. Along with Schneiderlin, he is the best technical player we have at the club. It's great to see Adam in such a rich vein of form, and long may it continue. He took both his goals superbly well today and here's hoping for more of the same. Lallana seems to be the perfect foil for Lambert in attack, and this could be the start of a decent partnership.
  9. Davis ( 7 ) - Solid but unspectacular. Did a decent job when called upon and could do nothing about the goal. James ( 6 ) - Did OK, nothing special. Can really wip a fantastic ball in from the right. Still a slight concern defensively though. Trotman ( 7 ) - Won the majority of his headers and has formed a formidable partnership at the back with Jaidi. Jaidi ( 8 ) - Big fan of Radhi. He is very dominant and commanding; we've been desperate for a player of his style for years! Harding ( 7 ) - Reliable as ever. Supported Lallana and Mellis very well and was sound defensively. Mellis ( 7 ) - One of his better performances. Very industrious and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Hammond ( 8 ) - Proving to be a first-class signing by Pards. Not afraid to get stuck in and breaks up the play brilliantly. Wotton ( 6 ) - Didn't do anything wrong but I'm just not a fan. Was OK, but nothing more than that. Waigo ( 7 ) - Would have been a 6 but for his goal. He drifts in and out of the game and is very much a luxury player. Lambert ( 8 ) - Superb. Fantastic goal and offers so much to the side. Will be a big, big player for us over the course of the season. Lallana ( 9 ) - Took his goals very well and worked well alongside Lambert. Could be the start of a good partnership. Gillett, Holmes and Paterson ( 6 ) - All came on quite late in the game and never really had the chance to get involved.
  10. I actually thought we played better football against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night, but the important thing is that we got a convincing win under our belts and we've moved into plus points. Hopefully now we've got that monkey off our backs, we can play with a bit more confidence and freedom and fingers crossed we'll be able to string a few wins together. Special mention to Lallana and Lambert who were brilliant today. Hate to say I told you so, but I touted Lallana as being a decent foil for Lambert from day one, and I'm delighted to see the combination working, and to great effect too! Lallana took both his goals very well and credit to him for that. Lambert's goal was expertly taken and looked even better on TV. We've been missing a first-class striker like Lambert for years now, and to have someone with his ability is a massive bonus. I have no doubt in my mind that he'll go on to score 20+ goals for us this season. All in all, a good win and lets hope it's the first of many!
  11. Patrick Agyemang is still on Pardew's radar.
  12. Either way the OS can't win. If they don't put anything on the site, they'll be blamed for not keeping the fans updated. If they put articles like this Hammond one up, then people will say less talk, more action. The only alternative would be for Hammond to come out and say the result doesn't matter too much, and I don't think that would sit too well with the fans . . .
  13. Despite all the negativity on here tonight, you have got to give Paul Trollope and his Bristol Rovers side a bit of credit. They're a decent side who play good, attacking football and they'll do well this season. Although they didn't deserve all three points IMO, they would have had every right to feel aggrieved if they had left empty handed. Fair play to the fans as well. I know it's not too far but they brought a lot down and made plenty of noise.
  14. A lot of hysteria on here tonight! Ironically, we probably played some of the best football we've played all season, and yet due to one stunning strike, people are going over the top calling for Pardew's head. We'll play a lot worse in games over the course of the season and yet we'll still come away with 3 points, that I can promise you.
  15. I'm surprised by how many people on here have been so critical of tonight's display. IMO, we played some of our best football this season, creating chances from open play and looking dangerous on the attack. When you concede a screamer like that right at the death, you just have to hold your hands up and give the lad a bit of credit. The chances are he'll never strike a ball sweeter than that in his whole life! I know it's depressing looking at the league table, but progress IS being made. We'll play a lot worse than we did tonight this season and win games. If we continue to perform like that throughout the course of the season, we'll be absolutely fine.
  16. Good move for all concerned. Enables Bialkowski to gain some first-team experience and he should come back to Saints better off for it. Only a short-term loan too so not as if we've only got Forecast to replace Davis should anything happen to him.
  17. Why do people assume Perry would do a job at right-back? He's getting on a bit, lacks any real pace and he'd struggle to get forward to support the right-midfielder. On top of that, any player running at him with pace would give him a torrid time.

    WGS to skates?

This may come back to haunt me, but I genuinely believe Strachan would turn them down should he get offered the job. Whilst he may want to get back into football eventually, he won't be tempted by P*mpey as they are a club whose future is very much uncertain. I would guess WGS will be back in the game before too long, but I'd be very surprised to see him take charge down the road.
  19. Anyone suggested Hammond yet?
  20. To be honest, I didn't think either were penalties. Saga looked as though he took a dive from where I was sat, and the second one just came out of the blue. Very harsh on Yeovil, but we've been due a bit of luck and yesterday, we got it.
  21. Very harsh to criticise him after 20 minutes! He looked lively and worked hard, although it was a concern that he got caught offside so frequently. You can see what Pards means about him being quite a raw talent, and in time I think he could come good for us.
  22. Only went and won myself a nice bit of cash yesterday didn't I? Had Saints to win 2-0 with Lambert to score first. Happy days!
  23. Slightly fortunate with both penalty decisions, but we were due a bit of luck. Not a convincing win, but it's a win none the less. Progress is being made, another clean sheet too. Bring on the next game!
  24. Big, big signing for us IMO. He was first-class yesterday and he'll be fantastic for us over the course of the season.
  25. Still tracking Agyemang too, but now Helguson has joined Watford on loan, it's looking more unlikely. I don't think QPR will be willing to let both go as they would be short of options in attack. As for Connolly, he'd be a good signing. Experienced player who has a good record in lower league football. Although he wouldn't be a long-term solution, he could certainly do a job for another year or two.
