I'm normally a fan of Saga but he has failed to deliver for quite some time now. I fear his spell at Saints is coming to an end, and I fully expect to see him leave come January, if not sooner.
-
Great win and a decent performance. When it went to 2-1 I feared the worst, especially considering how many chances we missed with the game at 2-0. Thankfully old habits didn't come back to haunt us, and Connolly killed the game off with a top draw finish. Things really are coming together now and we're starting to reap the rewards of Pardew rebuilding the team completely. If we can follow up yesterday's win with another victory against MK Dons then we'll be the form team of the division!
-
Top-draw finish from Connolly, he could turn out to be a first-class signing for us if he can keep himself fit. Lambert and Connolly in attack is potentially one of the best strike forces in this division.
-
Think it's probable that we'll extend his loan spell here until the end of the season at least. Would be fantastic if we can sign him on a permanent basis, but I don't know if he is in Preston's long-term plans.

David Connolly or Marek Saganowski? YOU DECIDE!

What are the odds of both our game and Pompey's game finishing 2-2?
-
Could do with an early goal to kill Oldham off. If we let them back into it, old habits could come back to haunt us.

Good prices once again, smart move from the club. Wouldn't be surprised if we had around 12,000 for this one.

Jan Poortvliet in relegation battle (again)
Bailey replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
Got no hard feelings towards Poortvliet at all, and I hope he turns things around there. His hands were very much tied during his spell in charge here, he was unable to field some of the senior players due to orders from the powers that be, and the strong emphasis on youth meant that in reality, we never really had a chance of avoiding relegation. I do sometimes wonder how he would have faired had he had total control over team affairs. Still, all this is in the past, and I'm delighted with the current regime and the direction which the club are heading. Onwards and upwards! -
All the best Jason! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for results if he gets the job there on a permanent basis. Hopefully he'll do well for himself and make a good career in management.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5626151,00.html As it says on the tin. Simon Gillett has stated that he would be more than happy to stay at Doncaster on a permanent basis after joining Sean O'Driscoll's side on a two-month loan.
-
Looks like someone at the club did something about this as the new team snap is now on the 'Team' page. As I said, it was me being very picky but still, great to see they've got rid of the old mob.
-
Shame really as Gillett was one of the few good things to come out of last season. For whatever reason however, Pardew doesn't rate him and that's his decision. Gillett isn't a youngster anymore and at his age he needs to be playing regular football. If Doncaster can offer that to him, then fair play to Simon and I wish him all the very best.
-
. . . please do me a favour! Under the 'Team' section on the OS, we still have the old squad photo from when Poortvliet was in charge. It's old news now, lets get the latest team snap uploaded! Nothing major I know, but still makes me feel uncomfortable having to see last season's squad!

Along with the fact that Jaidi and Trotman are lethal in the air. Throw Thomas into the mix and you have a tall, powerful defence!
-
Similarly to when we go a couple of games without winning, lets not get too carried away after a few wins either! I admit, Pardew has done a good job and on the whole the signs are encouraging, but there's still a long way to go before we can think about making the top six. Credit where credit is due however, a good, solid performance tonight and a well deserved three points. Lets just hope we can keep this run going and start to climb the table.
-
I make no apology for repeating this, and I'll say it again now. Along with Schneiderlin, Lallana is the most technically gifted player we have at the club. His first touch is superb and his ability on the ball is second-to-none. Credit to Pardew and the rest of the management team for playing Lallana in his strongest position and building the team around him. He's a real flair player who can create, score goals and cause a lot of problems for the oppo. He's a proper number 10 who is finally starting to make a real impact at Saints, and long may it continue! Lets hope we can fend off any interest that may be forthcoming in the January transfer window.

Have been very impressed with both Harding and Jaidi all season. Harding has only had one bad game, and that was against Bristol Rovers. In his defence, Mills didn't do him any favours by not getting close enough to his man, but that's for another day! Dan could prove to be one of our best signings this season, especially considering we snapped him up on a free. As for Jaidi, well what can you say? We've missed a defender with his aerial presence for years, and the guy is a monster. He wins at least 80% of his headers and he's such a calming influence at the back. Another top draw signing from Pards!
-
Great result and I have to say, I didn't expect us to win this one. A good, solid performance and now we finally have our first away win of the season! Two more goals for Lallana too, he's looking lively in front of goal at the minute and long may it continue. With confidence no doubt sky high, lets roll on the next game!
-
Watch us re-sign him at the end of next season after we win promotion to The Championship.
-
I'm not saying I'd have him in the first-team currently, in fact, I'd have Holmes, Mills, Mellis and Lallana ahead of him at left-midfield right now, but IMO he has potential and could develop into a decent player for us.
-
Anyone know how Oscar Gobern's loan spell at MK Dons has been going? Has he been playing? Has he impressed during his time there? I rate the lad and think he could have a future at St. Mary's. I'd be interested to hear some feedback on his loan spell.
-
Makes sense to send him out on loan and give him some game time. In theory, he should do well for Eastleigh in that division, but we'll see how he gets on. Personally, I'm not convinced by White but he's still young and he's learning so he could make a career for himself at Saints yet.
-
Potentially a very good signing for us. Although Connolly has been out injured for quite some time, he is a proven goalscorer and should get plenty in this division, providing he is given the service. He might just be the perfect foil for Lambert, and if they hit it off then we may have one of the best strike forces in the division.

Is it saying sold out when you're trying to purchase tickets online? It's more than likely that it's just a technical fault. If this was the case, then there would no doubt be an article on the OS saying how fan-tastic the Saints supporters are.
