Had good words for us after we beat them at their place too. Decent player on his day but didn't get a sniff this afternoon.

Don't know why, but I've just got a good feeling about this one. Have a feeling Saints might sneak a 2-1 or 3-2 win but we'll see. Expect to see the following line-up: --------------------- Davis ------------------ Otsemobor ----- Jaidi ----- Fonte ----- Harding Antonio --- Hammond --- Schneiderlin --- Lallana ------------------ Puncheon ------------------ ------------------- Lambert ------------------- Subs: Bialkowski, Thomas, Seaborne, Wotton, Holmes, Waigo, Barnard

Absolutely bang up for this! We've got nothing to lose, lets enjoy it and do ourselves justice. COYR!

Mind-games if you ask me. Pards is piling the pressure on P*mpey. At the end of the day, they're still a Premier League side and they SHOULD win, right? The onus is on them to come here, get the win and do it with relative ease, after all, we're a League One team. However, we're in a win-win situation IMO. We lose and we just say that they were expected to win, they're 2 divisions above us after all, but we still have bragging rights about our club's financial position in comparison to theirs. If we win, then we have local bragging rights, a cup upset and we can still mock them about their current plight. I actually think Pards has played the media brilliantly in the build-up to this game. He's taken the pressure of his players, put it onto P*mpey and played down expectations.

Fantastic evening. First-half we were by far the better side and fully deserved to go in at half-time in front. The second-half was ruined by the ref; I've never seen so many free-kicks given in one game, unbelievable! Top draw goal and celebration from Lambert, clearly means a lot to him and he's made himself a real fans favourite here. MOTM goes to Papa Waigo, he was at the centre of everything last night and was unlucky not to notch himself. All in all, a great evening, now bring on Wembley!

I thought he had a good game but he almost ruined a decent performance with a lack of professionalism, a touch of arrogance and a lot of disrespect for MK Dons and Paul Ince. Thomas clearly antagonised some of the MK players after Lallana scored, and he was fortunate not to get sent off for a couple of incidents prior to that. Yes, passion and commitment are brilliant, I encourage it and love to see it, but there's a line and Thommo nearly crossed it last night. Pardew made a good decision to bring him off otherwise he was heading for an early bath.

In truth, I think people are making more of a deal out of this statement then they need to. At the end of the day, Cortese is just highlighting what a number of fans have been saying for the last month or so. We're not winning enough league games, we keep letting leads slip and we're not playing 'attractive' football. Considering how much money the owners have given Pardew to spend in the January transfer window, it's only right that they expect to see some sort of return on their investment. In a way, it's good to see Cortese managing his employee (AP), but whether piling the pressure on Pards publicly is the best thing to do, only time will tell! I don't think AP's job is under threat just yet, but this public warning is a strong indication as to the expectations that Cortese and Liebherr have.

Ha fair play for staying in the queue! Nice touch from Cortese and the club too, great stuff.

He did well there during his first loan stint and received good press from the local media. The fans took to him too and another loan spell at Grimsby can only be of benefit to both Olly and Saints. I wish him all the best and fingers crossed he'll return to St. Mary's in the summer a better player for it.

Puncheon Signs 3 1/2 Yr Contract at Saints
Bailey replied to Somewhere In Northam's topic in The Saints
Good signing. He'll add something different to our midfield and his versatility will be a real plus. Be good to give him a warm welcome at St. Mary's today, prior to kick-off. -
Maybe signing Puncheon to play on the left would free up Lallana to play a more central role, meaning that we don't actually need to sign another creative midfield player? Just a thought.
-
Good news. Nice to hear Nicola reaffirming his commitment to Saints. I would have been surprised if he had left so soon into his tenure, but it's always a concern when you hear of links like this. Stability is key, and we appear to have that here, great stuff.

It's a big ask, but it's possible. We've not been in the best league form in the league of late, but remember, we started the season slowly too before going on a rich vein of form. Whilst I agree it's unlikely we'll make the play-offs this season, there is still a chance we'll do it and I wouldn't write us off just yet.
-
Not the best performance in truth, but it could and probably should have been worse for us. Kelvin was first-class and kept us in the game. The penalty save was top-draw, full credit to him. Barnard should have put the game to bed but it wasn't to be, and Brentford fully deserved their equaliser. Saturday's game against Stockport is a must-win if we are to keep any play-off hopes alive. The gap is increasing and we need to go on a good run of form to mount a serious promotion challenge.

Would you sign Papa Waigo N'Diaye on a permanent basis?
Bailey replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
I'm still undecided. I wouldn't be surprised if Pardew was looking to sign a replacement in the summer who is similar in style and in terms of ability. Whilst Papa Waigo has bags of potential, he's not consistent enough for my liking. Having said that, he does have the ability to change a game with a flash of brilliance, so it's a tricky one. -
The guy has only signed a six-month contract so we're hardly taking a gamble on him, and he's got a lot of work to do to earn a longer deal. It's a free transfer as well and Pards has sorted out a problem position for us by signing a player with plenty of experience in this division. Lets give the lad a chance to impress, who knows, he might impress us! If he is poor, then he'll get released in the summer. He might even be a short-term option whilst we look to sign a 'bigger' name in the summer.

Just a quick question . . . Could someone tell me what the default controller settings are for Fifa 10 on the PS3? By that, I mean is crossing 'assisted', 'semi-assisted' or 'manual'. Thanks in advance!

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1931354,00.html Explains the Jaidi injury. Likely to be out for a couple of weeks so potentially a new defensive partnership for Millwall on Saturday?
-
I've seen him play a handful of times and he's looked solid enough. Slightly surprised by this one though as I thought Ward was on the verge of joining. Maybe he is still going to sign, and we're about to ship out a few defenders, but we'll see. With regards to Seaborne, there's no point in writing him off before he's had a chance. He's clearly got something about him, a number of bids had been made to secure his services, including one or two from clubs in a higher division, so DS clearly has potential. Think we should trust Pards on this one.

Why would I photoshop it? In all honesty, I have no idea how to even use that software, yet alone mock something up like that! I just noticed it whilst looking through the 'Player Profile' section on the OS earlier on today. I'm guessing it's just an honest mistake from those running the site, nothing more than that. Still, a bit weird none the less.
-
A certain Arron Davies is appearing on the OS team profile page. Mistake from those running the site or a signing that is about to be announced . . . ? You decide! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~23763,00.html

Very, very unlikely to happen. Why would he consider leaving when he only joined in the summer? And besides, Saints aren't in any need to sell and Lambert will have been fully aware when he signed on the dotted line at St. Mary's that this 'project' was going to take a few years to come to fruition, with promotion more likely to come next season. With that in mind, you'd like to think he was in it for the long haul.

I've come to the conlcusion that Antonio is a bad player that has good games. Don't get me wrong, he has plenty of potential; his directness, pace and power are refreshing to see, but it's all about getting him to perform consistently. Antonio clearly has ability, he's shown that in glimpses, but at times, he's also looked like a fish out of water. If Pardew and the rest of the management team can work closely with him, then he could be a decent player for us in the long-term. He does have age on his side too, so there is plenty of time for him to develop into a good player at this level. Antonio is well worth keeping hold of until the end of the season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Pards offer him a permanent contract in the summer.
-
A good, solid player at this level. He'd be a great addition to our strike force IMO. Lambert, Connolly and Barnard would be up there with the best strike forces in this division, but we would still need another player to replace Rickie when he inevitably picks up an injury.
-
Elliot Ward would be a first-class signing for us. Exactly what we need at the minute, and he'd form a strong partnership in the heart of our defence with Jaidi. Would love to see him come here.
