  1. Good win against a solid side. We worked hard and probably edged the game overall, although Charlton will perhaps feel as though they deserved a point. Special mention to Fonte who was class as per usual and Kelv who pulled off three decent saves today. It's another win, time to look to the Bristol Rovers game on Tuesday and see if we can keep the pressure on. Top six finish is the aim, but it couldn't happen . . . could it?
  2. Doesn't surprise me that clubs are looking at Lallana given his good form this season, but there is absolutely no chance of Adam opting to join Celtic in my opinion. He must realise that if he bides his time at Saints, playing a key role in a winning side under the guidance of Pardew, then he'll play in The Premiership eventually, be it with Southampton in a few years or another team. A move to the SPL would be a step in the wrong direction and it wouldn't enable him to fulfil his potential.
  3. Don't know about you but I would have found it a bit cringeworthy had the club paraded the JPT trophy around. At the end of the day, it's not the most prestigious of trophies and we should really be concentrating on winning our remaining fixtures with the aim being to sneak into the top six.

I appear to be in the minority then? I actually thought that 21,000 was a half-decent attendance for a third tier game, especially considering how people will have spent a lot of money for the recent trip to Wembley. Not to mention the fact that it was Easter Monday too!
  5. Wasn't pretty but we got the 3 points and at this stage of the season, that's all you can ask for. Lallana was first-class throughout, full credit to him. Took both his goals brilliantly well. Today was a game that in seasons gone by, we wouldn't have won, but we dug deep and fought hard for the win; credit to the players for that. Now that's done with, there's no need to dwell on the performance, just need to focus on Charlton this coming Saturday.
  6. Promotion this season, f'sure. It's unlikely however, but whilst there's still a chance, we've got to go for it, starting with a win at Brighton on Thursday.
  7. Looked the part but plays poorly. The pitch was clearly loose under foot and the roll of the ball was very slow.
  8. Antonio is very hit or miss, but can't fault him today as he was first-class and potentially MOTM. He's clearly got ability, it's just getting these types of performances out of him consistently. Definitely worth offering a contract to at the end of his loan spell, that's for sure. Be interesting to see how he develops over the next year or two!
  9. A few candidates for MOTM today IMO. Any one of Fonte, Harding, Antonio, Lallana or Lambert could have taken it. For me though, Fonte just edges it. The guy is a class above and we are lucky that we managed to convince him to join us!
  10. Great day all round. Atmosphere was OK, Wembley is such a big stadium that it made it difficult for all the Saints' fans to get the same song going. Fair play to our mob though, the sea of red and white looked first-class, proud to be a Saint today! As for the game itself, I don't think we were at our best by any stretch of the imagination, but with this squad we have the ability to take games by the scruff of the neck and win without playing to our full potential. Special mention to Fonte, Harding, Jaidi and Lambert who I thought were excellent throughout. Full credit to Alan Pardew too. Today is hopefully the first big step in restoring this club to its former glory. Lets hope there are many days like today to come in the not too distant future! COYR!
  11. Great result! Lambert continues to impress, what a signing he's proven to be! Lets hope we can keep these faint play-off hopes alive with another win on Tuesday.

Sorry, I meant I asked about this Saturday's game against MK Dons.

I text this number asking for the result on Saturday. They said we'd win 2-1 with Barnard scoring the winner in the 83rd minute. Think I'll pop a quid or two on that just in case!
  14. Wasn't specifically accusing you of over-reacting saint_stevo, but I do think some people are going a tad over-board with their views. Yes, losing at home to ANY team in this division, yet alone an injury-hit Swindon side is disappointing and hugely frustrating, especially given our current form, but at the end of the day, we were beaten by the better side on the night and we didn't deserve anything from the game. I just find it odd that after one poor result, people start to question whether we're any good, whether we're heading in the right direction and even some asking if we're going to get dragged into a relegation battle!?
  15. I think people need to accept that we were beaten by a better side on the night. Swindon had a game plan, executed it brilliantly and deserved the 3 points. Lets put this one behind us and look to MK Dons away on Saturday.
  16. Some people are over-reacting once again. Take nothing away from Swindon, they played well and fully deserved the 3 points. They executed their game plan perfectly and could have had more. Having said that, despite playing poorly throughout, we still had chances and on another day we would have won. I got the feeling that had the game gone on for another 90 minutes, we still wouldn't have scored. Admittedly the play-offs are unlikely now, almost impossible, but we must go into the game at MK Dons with the aim of putting right yesterday's wrongs. Our season is not over, we still have the JPT final and we need to finish the season in a rich vein of form to begin building for next season's promotion push.
  17. Olly Lancashire Lloyd James Chris Perry Wayne Thomas I think I'm right in saying all of the above are out of contract? Any others?
  18. Going to be tough but I think we'll sneak it. 2-1 Saints.
  19. The stats speak for themselves, Pards is doing a very good job. People need to remember, he initially joined Saints late on in the summer transfer window and due to this, he had little to no time to shape his squad. However, things are improving, the squad is taking shape and Alan's hard work is starting to pay dividends. Worth mentioning too that AP has been extremely astute with regards to transfers thus far. Harding, Puncheon, Lambert, Hammond and Fonte but to name a few are all looking like being first-class players for us.
  20. Nail. Head. Hammer.
  21. Fully aware that there were a number of quality displays from our lot today, but thought Puncheon deserved a thread of his own. He made a big impression on his home debut; hopefully there is plenty more to come too! Have to say, he is similar to Lallana but probably more direct. His pace and power will prove to be a real asset and I look forward to seeing him in a Saints shirt again on Tuesday night. Fantastic to have the option of switching Lallana and Jason throughout the game as well, with both players proving to be equally as effective on either flank. Pards might have pulled off a mini coup by securing JP's signature, but we'll see if he can produce displays like today on a regular basis first.
  22. Think you could possibly add Lallana to that list. After today's performance, you might be able to throw Puncheon's name into the hat too, but need to see more of him. Great home debut mind!
  23. I've been a big fan of Morgan from day one and he is certainly starting to prove his worth this season. Great performance from Schneiderlin today, top draw!

    Fonte

Great performance from Fonte today, starting to form a formidable partnership alongside Jaidi in the heart of our defence.
  25. In terms of the performance, I thought it was first-class. Everyone had a good game today, but special mention to Fonte, Puncheon, Lallana, Lambert and Barnard. Some excellent displays in there, fantastic stuff! Just want to clear something up with regards to Tractor_Saint's quote below too . . . I sit just above the Saints' bench, and Barnard didn't storm off, that's for sure. He was all smiles, but just pointed to an injury where he'd taken a slight knock. From that, I'm guessing he went straight down the tunnel to have a quick check to see if it was anything serious.
