  1. I agree to an extent. As much as I hate them, it was good to see Leeds go up as they would have been up there again this time round, likewise with Norwich. Millwall were always difficult to play against and out of the three relegated teams, only Sheffield Wednesday concern me. I think Huddersfield will have another good season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Brighton do OK. However, with some good additions, Saints have got to be firm favourites to go up and rightly so. With the budget that Pardew has had, it's to be expected and fingers crossed our 125th year is one of our most successful ever.
  2. There has been a lot of interest in the players we've released from League One and Two clubs.
  3. Me and the old man have renewed and have to say, I can't wait for the new season. Fingers crossed our 125th year is one to remember!
  4. Wes Brown?
  5. Got a great surname . . . Seriously though, I mentioned his name as a potential signing after his penalty miss for Charlton in the playoffs. He'd be a great addition to the squad, be delighted if we pulled this one off.
  6. My gut feeling is that he'll stay. We managed to keep hold of him last season and we were in a terrible position then. Now we have wealthy new owners and as a club, we're going places. The French boss even told Schneiderlin to leave if he wanted to be considered at international level but he resisted any move and he's still being selected, so that's not an issue. If all goes to plan, next season we'll be promoted from League One and hopefully MS will have a league championship to add to his CV. Another year in a side with a winning mentality will be good for the players' development and whilst I don't doubt that he'll leave one day as he has plenty of potential, I think he'll remain a Saint for the forthcoming season.
  7. He's waiting for Skacel and Adu to sign . . .
  8. This is the winner for me!
  9. Love that! :smt038

    Adu link

Throw Rudi Skacel into the mix and we'll score goals for fun next season!
  11. Would love to see Vokes here on loan. A good back-up for Rickie although if he were to join, I'd imagine Wolves would want assurances that he'd play regularly?
  12. Was tipped as 'one for the future' when he first came onto the scene with Bolton but hasn't lived up to the hype. Still, he could be worth having a look at despite his injury problems, although I'd rather we looked at alternative options.

    Dickson bid

Some people are really over-reacting here! Even if Pardew is looking to sign Dickson as a LB, so what? Having arguably two of the best LB's in the division can only be a good thing for Saints, right? If Dickson coming in means Mills can go out on loan then that's great! Mills has potential but he's still got a lot to learn yet. A loan spell at a divisional rival where he plays regular football will do both him and Saints the world of good long-term.
  14. Saw Brian Howard in town today. I know he's still contracted to Reading but HCDAJFU, f'sure. As a Saints fan, I wonder if he'd be tempted if we put an offer in for him?

    Dickson bid

Dickson in, Mills to Brentford on loan?

    Dickson bid

Harding and Dickson competing for the LB position, with Lallana and Mills fighting for LM? Dickson can also play LM so gives us another alternative. Maybe Mills will be sent out on loan to further his development?
  17. Tom Soares and Michael Tonge have been told they can leave Stoke. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6161622,00.html Would prefer the former myself but both are more than capable at Championship level, yet alone League One.
  18. Great strike! Making some brilliant cross-field passes too. More of the same for Saints next season please MS!
  19. I'd take Surman back in a second. Was gutted when he left and he'd certainly do a job for us, especially in League One.
  20. Lottery numbers please! Have to agree though, I'd love to see Bailey here. He's a quality midfielder and would do a job in the CCC too.
  21. After originally being in the 'it's only a badge' camp, the longer this has rumbled on, the more uneasy I've become with the new design. Gecko's design is head and shoulders above anything else I've seen, and really takes into consideration the history of our club badges. I'd much rather that this was the official badge for the forthcoming campaign, and I wouldn't be against it becoming the new design on a permanent basis. Great work Gecko, top stuff!
  22. Agree with that retained list, although I always thought Pardew was a fan of Lloyd James; surprised he wasn't offered a new contract. Special mention to Chris Perry who has been first-class during his time here. I wish him all the best in whatever he does next. Top man.
  23. I'd like to see Antonio back, but he's not irreplaceable. Whilst he's come on leaps and bounds this season, I'm sure there is a decent alternative out there, and no doubt Pards is scouting for a suitable replacement. As for Papa, well he certainly has the ability to change games coming from the bench. However, on the whole, he's been too inconsistent and again, I'm sure there is a better option out there. All makes for an interesting summer, that's for sure!
  24. Italy/Switzerland pre-season tour would be fantastic. Top it off with a 'big name' side at St. Mary's in the Ted Bates Trophy and we should be more than ready to start our assault on League One!
