Pardew said in his post-match interview that considering the number of injuries we have at the minute, he needed to protect the remaining first-team players for next Saturday, hence six or seven youngsters finishing yesterday's game.
-
Robert Koren perhaps? I think it fits the description and he's available on a free after being released by West Brom.
-
Away kit looks great 'in the flesh' so to speak. Well worth a purchase! Not often I buy both the home and away strips but I have this season.
-
Never going to happen. Can't add much more to that really!
-
I'd like to see Tyson here. He's got a lot to offer, especially in this division and although he's hardly been prolific at Forest, he could make a name for himself at Saints IMO. Would be a cracking bit of business if we pulled it off, but time will tell.
-
Hopefully Bialkowski will sign a new contract, otherwise we're short of cover. If Davis was to pick up an injury, I wouldn't feel confident with Forecast in the sticks.
-
Good signing at this level. Palace fans clearly rated him and he should provide us with some much needed experience too. Obviously the injury sustained by Richardson forced Pardew's hand a bit, but it's good to have two players for every position in the side. Last season we had James and Otsemobor at right-back, now we have Richardson and Butterfield. A good improvement. Lets just hope that FR can make a speedy recovery from injury now!
-
We should definitely look at Simon Francis to provide competition for Frazer Richardson. On a free transfer, he'd be an absolute bargain too.
-
He does a job, that's about it. His pace is a real asset and going forward he is good, but his positioning often lets him down and he tends to shy away from a tackle. Otsemobor isn't a bad signing on a free, and he is more than capable at this level, but if Sheffield Wednesday were to get promoted, he'd struggle to hold down a place in your starting XI in The Championship.
-
Wish him all the best. Football is a funny old game really. Not good enough for League One side Southampton, but able to get into the starting XI at Championship club Doncaster. My opinion? I think Pardew was right to let him leave. He was never really given a proper crack here but from what we did see, he hardly set the world alight. I certainly wouldn't pick him ahead of Hammond or Schneiderlin, that's f'sure!
-
Great signing. FR was top draw last season and his inclusion in the team of the year was fully deserved. This is a shrewd signing from AP and done relatively cheaply too. Very much look forward to seeing him in a Saints shirt this season, and hope he proves to be top draw signing for us.
-
Not all the players were around when these pictures were taken, a few players were away on holiday. Worry not, there is nothing sinister behind people like Harding and Schneiderlin not having a new profile picture up. The rest of the team snaps will be done when the full squad photo is taken, with hopefully a few new additions.

Good to hear of news like this. Cortese is certainly giving Southampton an overhaul from top to bottom, and initiatives like this have to be applauded, full credit to him. Here's hoping it's a huge success.

There you have it, all of our pre-season plans announced in one go now that everything has been confirmed and finalised. To those that do make the trip to Switzerland, enjoy it! The place looks amazing.
-
I can't seem to get any snippets either. Only rumours I have heard are that we've looked at Chris Dickson and Kevin Lisbie. These are just rumours though, nothing concrete. Hopefully we're not too far away from making some new signings. Pre-season is fast approaching!
-
As the title says really. Lloyd James is on a two-week trial with Colchester. Expect to see a number of the players released by Saints sign for clubs in the coming weeks, if not sooner. Be interesting to see where they all end up!

Notice how Dickson is classed as a midfielder on his profile on the OS . . . http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~30120,00.html

Bart wants to stay (according to the Echo)
Bailey replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Good news. Bialkowski is still young and he's shown in the past that he definitely has ability. Maybe in a year or two, if he continues to work hard, then he might end up being our first choice 'keeper? Who knows? Still, hopefully he does sign, otherwise we'd only have Tommy Forecast as cover and that is far from ideal! -
Have taken some time to try and get used to the new forum, but there are three issues that keep bugging me. I don't know if others will agree or whether they've had similar problems too, so interested to hear people's thoughts as always. 1. The colour scheme. There's just too much white and now this forum looks a bit generic, almost like any other forum on the web. Is it possible to bring in a skin similar to the old one? 2. The new version can be sooo slow to load. I appreciate that there is more data and what not going onto this new site, but it's quite frustrating at times. Is there any way around this? and FINALLY! 3. The much debated banner. I think a new design would go some way to making this site look more modern and individual. The banner from the old forum looked class and would be a lot better than the current one. Possible to have a poll to decide? Thoughts?

We haven't heard any official confirmaton, but from what has been speculated, it would seem that Antonio is the more likely to return to St. Mary's next season. Somehow I don't think Papa will be back, but signing a similar but better alternative wouldn't be a bad idea.

Did Kelvin miss the World Cup by staying?
Bailey replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
Heskey was guilty of making the biggest mistake of all! He missed a clear one-on-one, he is as guilty as Green for England failing to pick up 3 points against the US, but because Green is a 'keeper, his mistake got highlighted and he's been blamed for everything. Still, that's a debate for another thread! As for Kelvin for England, lets be realistic. He's a first-class 'keeper in League One, don't get me wrong, and he could do a job in the Champ, if not the Prem, but to say he's good enough for England is a tad extreme. There are a number of players ahead of him who didn't make the squad. Take Paul Robinson, Scott Carson, Chris Kirkland and Ben Foster for example. -

Am I right in thinking it was the late Ray Jones that rounded Davis before finishing from a tight angle? Was definitely one Super Kelv will want to forget, that's f'sure!

SaintsWeb Offline from approx 7pm - now back online!
Bailey replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
Didn't take to it initially but like people have said, it's similar to the changes on Facebook etc. Once you get used to it, it's really quite impressive. However, I have some reservations about the new banner too, just doesn't look right for some reason, not sure why!? -
Agree completely. As others have said, these words could well come back to haunt the Swindon Chairman. Swindon, if anything, will struggle to repeat last season's achievement, where as Huddersfield, given the signings they have made so far this summer, are sure to be in and around the playoffs once again.
