Speaking of number 9, where is Lee Barnard? I feel his injury is being under-played. More serious than first feared or fit again and unable to get in the team?
-
Just booked 4 tickets, so they're definitely on sale! I'm sure we'll take a few up there, doesn't take long to get to Leicester and promises to be a good game. Looking forward to it, will be an even contest and there's no reason why we can't come away with something. Good prices too. Very reasonable, especially for those 22 and under.

Lambert was MOTM for me. He played his best ever 90 minutes for Southampton tonight. Lead the line superbly, fully deserved his goals and could have had more. Won almost everything in the air and his link-up play with the likes of Connolly, Lallana and Guly was a joy to watch. All in all, a fantastic evening and one that'll live long in the memory.

I reckon it'll be 1-1 tonight with Lambert notching his first goal in the Champ. Looking forward to it, should be a good game.

http://askadkins.info/ Not sure if this has been posted on here before, apologies if so. Made me laugh anyway!

If true, that's an astronomical fee for someone who has only played one season in the third tier of English football. Time to re-invest the money and sign a replacement winger, a defender and a new striker.
-
Need two for every position. De Ridder and who for right-midfield? Forte isn't good enough IMO, and Guly is not a winger.
-
Attention now turns to who we get in as a replacement. Needs to be a pacy, direct winger of similar mould to Chamberlain.
-
Hogan is very good friends with Lallana. He was only at St. Mary's to watch AL first hand. He's still very much in QPR's plans, so won't be coming here, that I can promise you.
-
I'd started to question him towards the tail end of last season, but today Hammond was top draw from start to finish. A real class above, fantastic performance, topped off with a superb goal. Cork's arrival has definitely lifted him. Had to raise his game to keep his place in the side and that competition can only be a good thing for Saints going forward.

Winning so convincingly and the manner of the performance won't do us any harm when trying to 'sell' the club/vision to potential big-name recruits.

QPR make Saints an offer for Puncheon (Player Exchange)
Bailey replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
For what it's worth, Gorkss is starting for QPR tonight in a friendly against Crawley. -
Couldn't agree more. We effectively replaced Wotton with Chaplow and Gobern with Cork. We've got real quality in the middle of the park now, and it'll serve us well over the course of the season. For what it's worth, I think Hammond and Cork will start against Leeds, but only time will tell.

QPR make Saints an offer for Puncheon (Player Exchange)

Not sure how true, but I'm hearing we've rejected their offer and are only willing to sell for cash. Still holding out for around £1m. -
Andrew Davis playing as a trialist for palace tonight!
Bailey replied to jimbojones10's topic in The Saints
Injuries have taken their toll and Davies is a completely different player to the one we saw at St. Mary's. Shame, as he was first-class for us. Time to move on though. -
To this tune: We should sing . . . Steve De Ridder, Ridder, Ridder Steve De Ridder!

Going to West Ham. Done deal.

Personally, I'm not worried about our transfer activity (or lack of) as of yet. There is still plenty of time to improve and we're only 2 or 3 players away from being very competitive. However, I notice that people aren't too concerned about our lack of wide players. The majority seem pretty unanimous in that we should sign a defender and a forward, but not a lot gets said about potential wingers. Granted, we've got Lallana and (for the time being) Chamberlain as first choice, but with the injury-prone Holmes, the inevitable departure of Puncheon and the questionable Forte as alternatives, I feel this is an area we need to strengthen. What are other people's thoughts on this? For what it's worth, I'd like to see us sign a centre-half, a wide player and a striker whilst keeping hold of the current squad. Then, we're good to go!
-
Yep, I'm told around the £1m mark. If we can get anything near to that, I'd take it. There has been lots of enquiries made by a number of clubs ranging from top tier to League One teams, but nobody has matched our valuation YET. My personal opinion is that we're holding out for too much, and when he does eventually leave, it'll be for between 500K-750K. Whatever happens, I'd be extremely surprised if we ever saw Punch play for Saints again!
-
Nobody has met Saints' valuation yet. As it stands, he's still very much a Southampton player.
-
West Ham I think. Would love to see him here mind!

Anyone heard anything more re: Puncheon's situation? The latest snippet I've heard is that Wigan are interested too, but we're insisting on selling for no less than £1m. Be a great piece of business if so!

Just joined Bristol Rovers! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13703945.stm

Not for me, although almost all my colleagues use it! Maybe I'll have to see what all the fuss is about. I'm only just coming to terms with Facebook!

I have it on good authority that Liverpool have put in a bid for Alex Chamberlain. I'm not certain on the exact figures, but I'm told the deal could surpass the £10m mark based on installments and future payments. Liverpool are looking to invest heavily in youth this summer. Expect bids for Phil Jones, Jordan Henderson and an £8m bid for Connor Wickham to all become public knowledge over the course of the summer. Just passing on what I've heard! For what it's worth, I don't think Chamberlain would go to Liverpool. If we do lose him this summer, I'd expect it to be to Man Utd or Arsenal. Admittedly I'm biased, but I still believe he's best off staying at Saints for at least another year. Thoughts?
