Just received this via email: Got an email saying O'Neill was phoned and offered the job last night which he accepted... ... only for Cortese to go and interview Adkins this morning, which has understandably p£ssed off O'Neill. Very strange goings on, could still go either way I hear now.

Martin O'Neill has accepted the job on the privso that Cortese backs off team affairs - selections, transfers etc. The ball is in Cortese's court. Basically if we don't get MON, it's down to the fault of NC and no one else. MON wanted an answer before the game yesterday, as far as I'm aware the call still hasn't been made so the longer it goes on the more unlikely it is. Pull your ****ing finger out Cortese.

How has he not been sacked by Boro yet?

I've received a text saying a press conference has been called for Monday at 10am. This may or may not be true.

Three different sources have said exactly the samething which suggests there is a fair amount of substance in it. I couldn't give a sh1t if people believe it or not.

Have heard from three different sources O'Neill is being spoken to today. Curbishley was interviewed yesterday. O'Neill fancies the job but wants assurances from NC before committing. Watch this space.

Any idea when we're going to hear from AP? Would like to hear his version of events....

Remember when Pardew said last year the structure of the football club and his relationship with Cortese was the envy of every other manager?? Oh. Terrible decision with terrible timing, albeit not suprising as heard this was going to happen a few weeks ago. If Cortese was going to sack AP he should have done it in the summer. Think it's the right move. If you look at the QPR game when they lost Ray Jones we beat them comfortably 3-0. It's alright saying "let's do it for Markus" but sometimes emotion can take over and it has the reverse effect.

I've changed my bet slightly. I've included Luton as I think they will walk the conference - 7/4 is brilliant value. The bookies can't pay out more than a million on one bet so will reduce the stake to £75. Fingers crossed
