Whole thing leaves a nasty taste for me. Shame as MLT is a legend, and i have a lot of respect for what NC has alreaady done for this club over the past two years. The thing is, and i have to say i have no idea if this has ever happened or not, have the two of them ever actually sat down together and had a chat? Why don't they just get things sorted? NC must see that it would be great for everyone involved with Saints to have MLT as an ambassador involved with the club, he is a true Saints legend. And clearly, MLT wants to be involved otherwise he wouldnt keep piping up every five minutes.

Saints 2 - 0 Blackpool - Post match reaction
saint-crinny replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
Great win to top a great day. Adam signing long term, knocking out a PL side and Punch back and looking sharp. Stunner from Guly as well, top drawer!! Also - and apologies if posted elsewhere - Howe's comments after the Bournemouth win; he has 'a big decision to make' now. Palace or Charlton i guess. Hard to see them maintaining their challenge if he leaves. -
Classic two fingers from the players - no way would they have performed like under Pards and after Saturday. Big-name (and respected) manager needs to be appointed - Cortese must surely be trying to pull this off otherwise there is only one way we are heading.
-
Great stuff from NC - let people have it I say. Having worked in football, even though it was just at non-league level, if a club responded to every bit of speculation, and every email from a disgruntled fan, literally nothing would get done. So, what to talk about now on here. Maybe we should crack on with specualtion and rumour about all the quality players we are going to bring in this summer!
-
You do need a hard worker, but if we had a hard working creative CM in there with Morgan, Morgan could sit deep. You don't need to be crunching into big tackles to be a good defensive CM - Morgan reads the game so well and makes a number of well timed interceptions. Plus, particularly at home games like last night, we see so much of the ball that the need for someone like Hammond is minimal compared to a scrap on a horrible pitch away from SMS. I'm sure Pards is well aware of it though and will be looking for creative CMs in the summer. We've got the money to attract someone decent from the Championship as we showed with Fonte
-
For me, when at full strength we have one excellent CM (Morgan), and one average (Hammond). When Morgan is out that leaves us with an average CM and then take your pick from Wotton and James - neither are great options. I applaud Hammond as someone who works hard, but he doesnt have any creativity about him and next season, hopefully we can bring in another quality CM to play alongside Morgan. Hammond would be a great squad player in L1. Shame we didnt get Danns if the rumours were true.
-
Morgan is the most talented player in the squad for me. Great vision and his first touch is superb - always turns out of trouble. He reads the games well too - doesnt make the big tackles but does a great job nipping in and taking the ball. Any side at our level, and the next level up, would miss him.
-
Lambert - top draw in L1, good in the CCC, unsure of him in the Prem I love Lambert and I'm sure that he will do a great job for us over next couple of seasons. With the right players around him at Prem level he may cut it, but think he would have to improve a fair bit - his display against Swindon recently for example would suggest he is a long way off. Also for England, surely Capello would look at someone like Kevin Davies if he was looking at a lambert-style player. Having said all that, it is bloody marvellous to dream about this and I would bank on him above almost anyone in current England squad to slam home a penalty when it mattered!!!

Absolutely stunning from saints tonight - haven't enjoyed a more complete saints display for a long while. In my excitement thought I would post some ratings: Davis - relatively untroubled but one great save at 1-0 after a Huddersfield corner - 7 Semi - Solid in defence and growing game by game coming forward - 8 Harding - Another good display, good positioning and played a couple of cracking balls up the line too - 7 Fonte - Reading of the game is way too good for any striker at this level. Class - 8 Jaidi - Distribution pretty wayward again, but you dont beat him in the air - 7 Punch - Classy on the ball, decent delivery from either flank and superb finish - 9 Lallana - In and out of the game, but showed usual array of little flicks and clever touches. Loads of running again - 7 Spider - Top draw in the middle of the park. For me our most talented player - reads the play so well, never gives it away, always turns out of trouble and is working so hard as well now - 8 Hammond - Solid in the middle of the park and great darting run and header for his goal - 7 Lambert - A beast, don't think he lost a header. Held it up great, linked up play really well and another thumping header - 8 Barnard - MOM. Superb engine, he ran his socks off and is flying at the moment. Great header for his goal but was everywhere, especially in first half - 9. Papa - Brilliant goal to round things off, and I think he was only offside once too!! - 8 Seabourne - Untested in brief time on pitch - 6 Chamberlain - Excited cameo from him. Clearly buzzing to get on and touch was everywhere to start with, but almost bagged a debut goal. Good energy - 7 As you can tell - I bloody loved it tonight and I dont think i was on my own there! Only slight moan directed at the ref - just because Lambert is pretty much unstoppable at the moment doesnt mean he cant be fouled. Has got nothing in the last two games, but he just ploughs on and gets his goals. Hero!
-
Always remember the goal he scored when we smashed spurs in the cup as well. Loved that goal, and that game for that matter!
-
Papa has an unpredictable streak that terrifies defenses at this level, and I would love to see him start the next game. Watching Barnard, he seems really desperate to impress - bags of running - but needs a goal badly. People say that Papa is a great impact player is true, but if he started I think Barnard would also make a great impact from the bench with his energy against tiring defenses. As for Wotton - I cant stand watching him play. Lots of commitment but his first thought, and his first touch is always back towards our goal. We dont need that, least of all against such a poor team like Stockport, who were awful yesterday. Compare him to Morgan - his first touch and awareness is fantastic and he always turns out of trouble, and his first thought is always looking for that incisive pass to set us on our way. A class act who makes us tick and the stand out player for me. Will be great when Hammond is back and we can pair him up with Morgan.
-
Always good to keep an eye on non-league scene. I have seen a lot of Farnborough this year and they have some cracking players there. Dean McDonald, who scored a great goal against us in pre-season, and has played for Ipswich in Championship is scoring loads of goals there and I reckon could play at a much higher level. As said before, if you pick up a non-league gem then you can make some great money on them - just like Fulham have with Smalling.

Saw on Sky's clockwatch that Bryan Hughes has terminated his contract at Hull today. I've always thought he was quite a classy midfielder and would do a job for us in league one. Was also at Charlton at the same time as Pards so could be a link there. Apologies if this has been brought up elsewhere?

Seems a bizarre decision to me from Saints. Admittedly stupidly inflamatory comments about Lowe from the Echo bit, but that is reaction after the event. It would have been odd for the Echo not to run a story on it, given how public the information already was, and I imagine people on this forum would have been fairly critical if they hadn't. Not really sure who this decision benefits - I don't see what the club gains. I never buy the Echo but might do this weekend - I'm interested to see how they go about reporting the game now
-
Aldershot might be a good shout - Jason Dodd just taken over in temp charge, and they conceded 3 in his first game
-
I see we have a game on Monday against Farnborough: http://www.farnboroughfc.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=271:saints-coming-to-cherrywood-again&catid=1:latest&Itemid=196 Any idea who will be playing in that after today's good display? It's fairly local for me.
-
Seen a lot if Aldershot in last two seasons as they got promoted from Blue Sq Prem to League 2. Kirk Hudson is a pacy winger/striker with good eye for goal and would be cheap - they are desperate for money. They have also had Scott Davies - central midfielder - on loan from Reading for both seasons. Scored a load of goals in BSP and got another 15 last season in League 2. Good value for a few screamers. Back at Reading now but not quite good enough to start for them and I think they will be looking to loan him out again - probably to a League 1 club this time - and we are obviously local.
-
Steve Howard - infuriated me over the two Derby play-off games. Terrible player and was predictably awful in the Prem

Things the commentators have NOT said about Saints this season
saint-crinny replied to Big Ron fan's topic in The Saints
"Another perfectly timed tackle from Lancashire." "The best thing about Wright-Phillips is the timing of his runs in behind the defence. Rarely do you see him get caught offside. "It was a goo decision to write off some of the money Spurs owed for Bale. That is Forecast's 15th clean sheet in a row." -
My first game was as a 7-year-old against ipswich at the Dell in 1993. Got me hooked and it's still one of my favourite games ever. 3 goals in the last 5 minutes, le tiss hitting last minute winner to win it 4-3, and I proudly went home and told my mum that the ref was a w***er! Been some great games since then, always remember some cracking results at selhurst park against wimbledon, and Pahars curler vs Pompey, and some dire ones too - 7-2 at spurs was a particular disaster. Just rambling really, but I'd rather do that than chat abour what's going on right now!
-
Not sure, seem to remember some sort of issue with Mascherano when he signed for Liverpool. When Saga first came back I think the Echo ran an article about it as well
-
Now that Saga has played for us and Aalborg this season I don't think he's allowed to play for a third team without special dispensation, so he should be here until the end of the season. Our only hope of staying up...?
-
Bale - So much potential and is definitely good enough for the PL. Look at the way he played when he first signed for Spurs before his injury. It's just a confidence thing with him, he seems so nervous every time I've seen him play, which is maybe not surprising given Spurs current form and the fact that he has made a few errors. Baird - not really good enough to play in the Prem. Not big enough for a CB, not quick enough for RB. Would still be a great signing for any Championship side though
