  1. Fat Sam = sh*t football, overpaid Premier League players, arrogant, deluded and hateable - who wouldnt gloat...?
  2. Hammond just isnt really that good - Morgan is a class act who will continue to improve - hopefully with us. Hammond is not able to pass the ball forward without losing it, has poor control, never remotely looks like scoring (Leeds game apart, great strike) and always takes too many touches which slows play down (not really his fault, he just needs to take that many). On the odd occassion that our games descend into more of a scrap, he can be useful as he can get his foot in, but if we're honest, he doesnt really do that particularly forcefully either. Even in those games i'd rather have Morgan, but moreover, when we are at home and largely dominating possession, we need his extra quality to help unpick the usual defensively minded set-up in front of us. Noticeably, we didnt really dominate possession against a pretty awful Skate team - Morgan was taken out of the game after a couple of minutes... Anyway - i hope he's fit for tomorrow (which by the way, makes me feel a bit sick every time i think about the game)
  3. Bit annoying that Brighton couldnt hold up Reading, but on a lighter note, not sure if anyone has spotted this elsewhere - managed to snap a pic before it gets sorted on SSN: https://twitter.com/#!/Chris_Harri5/status/189830052601528320/photo/1
  4. Up - Us, Reading & Brum Down - Dont care really, but would like Wigan to come down. For no other reason than that i'd love us to try and sign Moses - he is class
  5. Well done on getting fit again. Great effort. Straight into the starting line-up on Saturday? Behave
  6. The grammar is woeful, no doubt about that. Doesnt give off the professional image that I'm sure the club is keen to portray. But seriously, what the f**k is wrong with SFC wanting to know who will be coming to a game in the hospitality suite. Sure there are boring health and safety aspects to it, as the SFC rep mentions, but also, it's about the personal touch. No idea how it works at SFC, but as part of an old job as a press officer for a non-league club, i used to get involved with the corporate matchday stuff and we always got everyones' names so that we could do a table plan, place names etc. The chairman also liked to know the names so that he could meet a few people and do all that side of things. It's just basic customer service, in the hope that people have a good experience and want to come back. And yes, they do probably want to send you email marketing stuff too. What next - are ST holders going to kick off that their f**king ticket isn't anonymous?
  7. Reading really are flying, but hopeully the run they have, playing Blackpool, West Ham, Leeds, Brighton and then us back-to-back will mean they can't possibly keep it up. Can they...?
  8. Assuming we are already up... - I'd celebrate a Saints goal/win in the normal fashion - I'd probably enjoy a Coventry goal/win that sent Pompey down too Win, win for me
  9. AOC is now playing regularly in the Prem, getting great reviews, has played in the Champions League, and has a good shout of going to the Euros in the summer. He would more than likely consider that he made the right move.
  10. If we met the release clause then it is activated and we can speak to the player, nothing Donnie could have done to stop us. Therefore, why on earth would we offer more, even if other teams were also competing. Donnie couldnt turn down any bid that met the clause.
  11. Strange comment about Sharp - he made his debut in appalling conditions and struggled to get into the game for the half an hour or so he played, therefore, he is no better than Connolly? Really do not understand that.

    Guly

The Guly argument could go on and on. For me, he is unpredictable and at times, hugely frustrating (especially when his touch completely deserts him) but in flashes, he can be superb. Fortunately, the flashes come often enough that he has been hugely important at times this season. For what it's worth, i feel like when he has one of his shockers, he quite often suddenly pops up with goal. Think he is having such a stinker that the opposition takes their eyes off him for second and that's when he nips in. Anyway, glad we have him to be honest. Unpredictable is good, especially in a tight game. Sometimes he is a little bit lazy, drifts in and out of games, but for me there is no doubt that he has quality and can be a matchwinner.
  13. Dpm't agree with that - Fox got to the ball just ahead of the Brum player when they showed the replay - Lino was quite to flag for our freekick as well
  14. Took a full on 'welcome to the Championship' tackle soon after coming on and handled it pretty well. He was still full of running and wanting the ball all the time, so i don't have any real concerns.
  15. If we make it to the Prem i would expect Morgan to really come to the fore. Slightly less physical than the Champ and look at the way he ran the show against Man Utd in the first half last season - and he was in there against some quality players (Scholes, Anderson, Gibson). Superb passer of the ball and always makes time and space for himself. Hard to find a better first touch in the league i would say. Hammond has none of that, but in some of the disgusting away games where we need to slug it out, he has put in some great performances over the last year and a half. Anyway, Morgan all day long
  16. Agree that we have a good chance in this one if we can hit some form and have a full strength squad to choose from. No point criticising their comments though - if the situation was the other way round then we would probably be saying exactly the same thing.
  17. Don't really get the hammering of the Echo on this one - in this instance, it was good journalism and i was interested to read the article.
  18. Sort of on topic, but after watching the Wigan game last night got me thinking - if they went down and we went up, would love us to sign Moses and Al Habsi. Really exciting young striker who goes past people for fun and a great keeper.
  19. Only seem Dobbie a couple of times but looks a pretty intelligent player who likes to drop off and link play - anyone else seen him play more? If we were to sign him i guess it would mean Rickie being the out and out striker and not doing so much of the link-up stuff that he does well. Wonder if NA would be happy to change tactics like that - no doubt Rickie can do it of course, sometimes a little frustrating when he is the one crossing from out wide for example, when you'd ideally like him getting on the end of the cross.
  20. Interesting - probably a good move for Bristol City, but also suggests that a Maynard deal may be almost complete with someone? Swansea seem favourites: http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Leroy-Lita-added-Swansea-City-s-bid-Bristol/story-14388775-detail/story.html
  21. Like most people, i don't think Forte is anywhere good enough for us at this level, but i'm never going to forget his double from the bench against MK Dons. That game, and Barney's winner, was probably my moment of 2011.
  22. And pace, something else that, SDR apart, we desperately lack
  23. Mentioned it on another thread but i think the only real issue with Lee at the moment is fitness and sharpness. His touch is normally good but was off last night, understandably after a long time out of the picture. A fully fit Barnard would be a useful addition in this league - we create a fair few chances and on form, he's a good little finisher so no reason to think that he wouldnt cut in the Championship. The real problem is how to get him fit. We can't afford to carry anyone - games are tight and we need everyone firing - so we can't really let Lee play his way back to fitness and form. Other option is loaning him out, but we do certainly need him in reserve if RL was to pick up a knock for example. Tricky...
  24. Interesting views on Barnard - clear to see that he is far from sharp, understandably since he is coming back from a lengthy injury. His touch when fully fit is pretty decent. The problem for me is that we can't afford to give him the run of games he needs to get sharp and match fit - we can't afford to carry anyone in this league while they get up to speed, as every point is so crucial. Ideally he goes out on loan for a month, but we can't really do that either as we would need him if we picked ip an injury. Difficult problem to have.
  25. Impressed with Hull today, really neat passing at times in and around our box - best side to visit us so far this season. SDR made a good impact from the bench, but key for me in the second half was moving Morgan inside. For me, our most creative player and for those first 20 mins of the second half he really made us tick. His ability to pick a pass really started to bring Lallana into the game, probably for the first time since he has been back from injury. Great win anyway - showed some great character and desire to come out and win that game. Delighted
