  1. i want him to do well, and you can't fault his effort, but i'm just not sure he looks that good. Personally wouldnt start him in home games ahead of Ings right now
  2. Exacly, we have signed some players that don't fit in this bracket recently, and nearly got relegated two season running
  3. i have no idea, but his Targett comment would suggest he's not 100% spot on!
  4. People need to wake up on Gallagher - imagine the scenes on here if we were trying to sign him rather than just keep him around the squad. We wouldn't want to sign him so lets call time on him at least shall we
  5. i started out very quickly interested in this story. The question posed raised serious concerns, the article goes on to state that we in fact arent owned by the Chinese government, and then carries on suggesting there could be an issue. Nice work
  6. think you have to ensure you dominate possession to be comfortable in this kind of formation for me, otherwise the defence can get very exposed and let's face it, the backline isn't always the strongest even when well protected. Would suspect that we see this formation more and more next season once RH has a few new signings to work with and hopefully the team continues to improve. But for Liverpool this week, i'd be amazed if we set up like that
  7. No real reason to assume that this is made up/exaggerated because it was a journalist/may or may not have been reported to stewards/they may or may not have responded properly. No real reason to think it was anything else other than a small minority of supporters. Every reason to find it disgusting, unacceptable and an issue even if it is just a few supporters, and there isnt an excuse for it
  8. Don't think the fact we sold him is the point being made here is it. i think it's the small transfer fee for a player of his ability, compounded by the poor recruitment for his replacment that people are unhappy about. We all knew that his race was run here, in his own mind certainly, although i personally would have been happy if he had stayed.
  9. Too much emphasis is placed on this by fans i think. If Bertrand returns as captain, you think Hoj would think he now doesnt need to be a leader on the pitch? Captains can be important, but i think we as fans probably place more importance on it than the players themselves
  10. Heard that Lobotka from Celta was their main target (very decent player). Doubt Lemina would be top of their list by any stretch
  11. With 16 goals in all competitions, i make it one more than we have managed as a team all season. Amazing
  12. Not a huge Welbeck fan (who is?) but think given where we are he'd be pretty decent for us. Every time I saw Paco this year for barca this year I never thought he looked great, but was interested as we'd been linked before and came away every time thinking he'd have gone down the Juanmi road with us despite definitely being a better player. He's hardly going to have people teeing him up here like he gets from Messi, coutinho etc. And it wouldn't happen anyway
  13. Signing for Napoli isn't he? Sure I saw DiMarzio tweeting about that today,
  14. Missed this maybe but why wasn't he involved at all today?
  15. Mina supposedly in talks with Lyon and wants CL football
  16. Taking the saints glasses off i think you'd have to say no - he went to United which should have been the catalyst for his career really. If he goes in at United, nails down a starter spot and excels at one of the world's biggest clubs, then he proves he can cut it and is almost certainly still in the French squad. For whatever reason he failed, hasnt recpatured his form at Everton either and is rightly not in the squad. if he stayed with us, and even maintained his levels, others at 'bigger clubs' would likely have overtaken him anyway. Kante for example, i dont think was on the french scene when Morgan last was.
  17. About to start in a World Cup final for France today, but we should have got in there in Jan as he definitely would have come. The same goes for Mbappe - Monaco were prepared to loan him out last summer with an option to buy and we let him join PSG. We really are a joke in transfer windows at times
  18. Appreciate reading stories in The Sun won't leave you particularly enlightened but if you do read this one it actually states we aren't prepared to pay £20m and only want to pay half. Carry on going nuts about us 'bidding £20m' if you want though. And the story could well be complete rubbish anyway
  19. On the other hand, if City batter us, Seansea score a few and we go down, the two extra points we should have gone and got there would have saved us ahead of the last game
  20. If you can't bring yourself to vote for Boufal for the goal, has to be Lemina's against West Brom. Great technique and it's an absolute screamer in a crunch game
  21. I know, never normally one for conspiracy theories, but the evidence gathered makes a strong case against him. Seems that it has already been pushed to authorities but nothing been done with the info from what i've read. The cynic in me says that a scandal of this scale regarding the integrity of the game would be too devastating to the Premier League brand...
  22. I'd just send them this -

True, and I hope that's how it proves. But anyone who watched that game could see it was there for the taking for us. You cannot deny it was a hugely negative approach, especially the substitutions. We're talking about who we want next year in charge - if we stay up (or go down) I think I would rather someone who was more progressive and attacking in games. The alternative to your point is that we may go down by a point and then sitting in for a 0-0 against a team finishing the season in dreadful form could be crucial for the wrong reasons. (Well, that an about 10 other ridiculous draws at home too) Given that we lost relatively comfortably to Chelsea in the cup semi anyway, I think most of us would have preferred to see us have a real go at them in that game too, rather than basically play a back 5 with 3 defensive midfielders, waiting to go behind. All my opinion of course and a lot of this is ifs and buts of course, but if we had conceded from one of those late chances for Bournemouth, I'm not sure this thread would even be happening.

I'm wary of this - lots of the stuff on this thread feels like the euphoria of the nerve jangling win as much as anything. The players felt that relief as much as us and celebrated a lot, as did Hughes - of course - it was a big win. And yes, the players are saying the right things - they've said the right things all season. I'm as pleased as anyone by the win and it's given us half a chance. But I can't forget the West Ham display, where Hughes set the team up ridiculously and we got totally overrun, or possibly worse, Leicester, where he basically admitted he was scared that we'd lose so didn't open it up. that was against a team already on the beach, as demonstrated by their thrashing from Palace at the weekend. For me it's more of a case that anyone would be better than Pellegrino. I obviously hope Hughes keeps us up, but I'm not sure I'd want him to get the job for next season if he does
