  1. Ooh I dunno, you could add a couple of million to it and try buying Chiriches (for example). Or someone else. I'm not suggesting that it is as easy as popping down the shop and buying a 10p mix up but I think £5M is a great offer which we should accept and use for a younger replacement with decent resale value in 3 or 4 years time.
  2. Yeah. I'll take the £5M thanks, prime or not, but I accept your opinion.
  3. He's not a premiership standard centre half and he's 30. I don't think being short at the back (maybe) today is a good excuse for not taking a great offer for someone who isn't worth close to that much when we have time to get a replacement or two in of better quality.
  4. £5M? We'd be nuts if we didn't accept that.
  5. No, I don't think we should discount Phil. I think Phil should discount his taxi driver. Liz Hurley please.
  6. He makes exceedingly good cakes too
  7. Spider 'might' stay. Just level-setting expectations :-)
  8. OK, let me rephrase that. If you read between the lines......... We have signed 2 players we should be happy with. We have reportedly made serious contact regarding others of good quality (i.e. reading between the lines Forster was serious contact, Ings was serious contact). We have Guan's confirmation that the club is working on 'good' signings. Do you need more? I'm personally quite content with what we appear to be doing out there.
  9. Faith kept and thanks for confirming what anyone with a bit of logic should have assumed. It can't be easy trying to get quality players with all the competition around but it's obvious the club are doing their best. It must be that lack of ambition.
  10. It's the passage in his bible, Brendan 17:8 "and the devil shalt come a'callin and ye shall thee p1ss all over the saints and swear allegiance to him"
  11. Please God yes! If he has to go then please let someone put the kibosh on Liverpool
  12. Lol. Very good Mr Fry. I caught myself in moral outrage there for a second so, really, you have an excellent point.
  13. Morgan is my favourite player and i would hate to lose him. However, i think the impact of losing him is not THAT great simply because we have quality cover in his position. I'd be happy enough with a central midfield of Wanyama and Cork. They aren't gonna win any prizes for creativity but they do a very effective, understated job. Lovren, on the other hand, would be a big loss. Losing him, without a decent replacement, would cost us a lot of places. Fonte is a liability without Lovren, and an accident waiting to happen even with him, but just about passable. Losing Lovren is losing 2 centre backs without replacing him(them). As things stand right here and right now though i think you have to have extremely dark glasses to think we will be in a relegation scrap
  14. Chelsea Man City Arsenal Man Utd Saints will finish 10th Villa Swansea Burnley Derby Wigan Reading
  15. Not when he has a year left on his contract he isn't
  16. Ah yes, but it was the Mona Lisa of red pandas. It's all in that enigmatic panda smile. This thread will be worth millions in a few years time
  17. Did you look up Panda in the dictionary?
  18. Right on the money. Good post sir.
  19. He'll probably nip off 15 minutes before half time
  20. Looks like the queue to the pie shop judging by those moobs
  21. Source was a rumour posted on Skysports rumours yesterday. I saw it too. Not entirely unfeasible i guess but probably unlikely.
  22. Fook, that a minute's silence we will have to suffer at Anfield on kick-off day then.
  23. Just my humble opinion of course but goalkeeper is the most critical position on the pitch. Get a good one and he wins you more points that any other position with the possible exception of a striker who gets himself scoring opportunities and has a great shot/goal ratio. Completely open to debate of course but that's my opinion. I think goalkeeper is also the most difficult position for us fans to assess because it's probably the most foreign to us all. If I can put an example forward though, let's take Ochoa from Mexico. There's no doubting he had a great tournament but I would be horrified if we went in for him. For me he had shot stopping, reflexes and positioning but his organisation was pretty much non-existent (you would have noticed Marquez doing that for him) and he was nowhere on crosses as well as a needless puncher. In my opinion he would get found out in the PL but he's probably in the top 3 or 4 for keeper of the tournament.
  24. Absolutely it is. We succeeded this time so all is quiet but if we hadn't then it would have meant, in some quarters, we didn't have ambition. Funny how one bloke's decision to join us over, say, Everton means that we have ambition now. We will probably fail with the a signing of similar stature soon and that will doubtless mean we have no ambition again.
