  1. You seem to forget that Crouch believed like many that Fulthorpe would of delivered as promised.
  2. In answer to the second point....we had just qualified for Europe, 8th in the Premiership, had WGS as manager, why wouldn't they come? 99.9% of footballers are mercenaries and would go anywhere if the price is right look at Skacel for example. Wages were to be paid from either a) trimming down of squad b) cutting lose the big losses from the radio station/insurance arm c) Bridge was never, ever going to stay with Chelsea throwimg megabucks at him
  3. Frank you have me wrong here....I totally accept others are not Luvvies when they stick up for Lowe. I have on many occasions given loveable old rosey cheeks credit for the academy without which we would of been sunk ages ago. I felt and still do that the wage structure did not need to be broken but other enticements were there to be used - whats the difference between having 22 quality players on minimum wage plus decent enticements or 41 players like we had at the set wage? I think with the SCC help Rupert got the stadium up and running that gives me a tingle still when I walk up the steps - I will never forget that Espanyol game at first sight. No what you dont recognise amidst all your rants on Alpine is that YOU dont treat those antis with the same respect you expect afforded to you with your point of view on Lowe thats the reason for my rant at you. I think thats enough for me on this as we will never agree but respect we all have this forum as a release and all post crap at times..
  4. A W reg Metro nice car...until it heavily rained and the door seals were crap meaning I had to bail it out!
  5. Someone will be championing Ian Baird next ;-)
  6. Of course Frank that must be the biggest load of horsepoo you have ever posted. Why did Strachan feel the need to put that in his book he didnt need to pad it out. If there was a choice between believeing WGS who didnt need to write it or believe someone who spends his life apologising and feeling the need to defend Lowe then I know where I sit. WGS didnt want to do another Coventry and he knew the squad we had was poor and Lowes policy then inflated it to 41 quantity of quality that broke the wage budget not structure...brilliant businessman my arse
  7. But no-one expected us to go mad and spend anywhere near that.....WGS wanted 11m to spend on Saha and Malbranque but Rupert felt it was wrong to give another club in th same division that much money as it strengthened them...ignoring the fact it would also strengthen us. We then sold Bridge etc and the rest is history. Had we of given WGS the money would he of stayed, would we of kicked on to the next level? No-one knows just like that nut job Dalek never knows whether his Messiah would of been any better here than he did elsewhere like Wolves. But one thing is certain what RL did since has been a catastrophe in alliance with many others but he started the ball rolling IMO.
  8. Thanks Clapham for putting it in a way I can fathom...IT and computers I can handle but accountancy stumps me.
  9. Not patronising at all and explained well ..sorry another question then...so as we have a number of high rollers such as Rasiak, John, Kelvin off the books soon and that leaving only mainly very low costing players such as those mentioned above we have a paltry cost for any purchaser?
  10. Thanks...so McG would be as we owe Notts County?
  11. Can someone help out with a question on this.....I seem to recall a few years ago when we spoke about reserve/academy grown players these do not appear on a balance sheet as assets? Does that mean therefore that Gillet Surman Lallana Lloyd Thomson Would not be included in GM value of £6,376K.
  12. I thought it was for Glen C_ckerill .....only problem is he didnt join till 85 ;-)
  13. I will take someone who has enough to see us solvent and with ambition and the right credentials...those being someone totally new to the club with no baggage. If its a multi billionaire then good we have struggled enough if its not then lets just hope its omeone that does far better than the last 5 years they wont have much to beat IMO.
  14. There's that luvvie in you coming out again ;-)
  15. When he has people with enough funds to buy us....before that he has to weedle out the tyrekickers, timewasters, wannabees and nutjobs. Rumour has it he is waiting on one consortium to prove itself...we have been here loads before especially with Fulthorpe. There then has to be further interviews and further negotiation and acceptance. If there is anyone left after that and to be honest I am totally bricking it that we wont find anyone I cant see that being before the last game of the season given the numebr of packs sent out.
  16. In your opinion......for the record can you or Micky show me where anyone on this thread blamed Burley for Administration? I did for not getting us automatic promotion there is a massive difference. I agree its gone off at a tangent as the initial post was about the Administrator but FC decided to turn this into a slanging match again.
  17. Come on Nick look at the squads available under Burley and since. That play off season should of been a shoe in automatic promotion with the players we had. But Burley made some of the weirdest tactical decisons I have ever seen, one game Watford? we had 6 players playing on their opposite natural flank. Saga on in injury time when we were drawing 0-0 at another game. To cap it off we let the most inexperienced player take the first penalty when everyone knows its vital to get off to a great start. We were on a downward spiral under Burley....would he of sanctioned the release of Rasiak and Skacel by Crouch..not bloody likely. A lot of managers had a lot to deal with under the recent boards tenure....I was watching Football Matters last night on Setanta and Berti Basset was saying he was not surprised Redkrapp ran back as fast as he could to Pompey given how bad SCW was. He reckoned that SCW was atrocious and a fish out of water here. Ok Bassett can be a plumb at times but he has a pretty decent managerial career and knew what was happening here.
  18. I think the guy you are talking about is the minder and driver for the youth team. I have seen him many times at Staplewood. The guy who used to collect the balls at The Dell and lay out the kit was a guy called Barry Small.
  19. Well the club was originally known as Southampton St Marys and its the same club now as was called then so IMO you are totally wrong.
  20. I would just love it...if for once we had a manager and board that sanctioned moves for players that suit the division we play in. No Gasmi, Schneiderling, Smith namby pamby style we need good solid honest giant centre halves, a mobile kicker in midfield, pacey wingers and a lump up front for Paterson and McGoldrick to feed off. We have no pace or aggression in our first or reserve teams that will get us up. I have wanted us to buy someone like Andy Bishop from Bury for a couple of years instead of the likes of the above mentioned players. He cannot be on big wages or cost a lot and run us ragged the other year at SMS.
  21. Survival on the pitch or boardroom and shareholding?
  22. Hows your conscience Charlie http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.showNews.php?id=19165 Having spent a bloody fortune this year watching complete wasters both on the pitch and off it mine is great and I dont need someone telling me otherwise. I did not contribute but having bought 2 ST's, shirts, beer, food , occasional programmes at home game this year I dont feel obliged to and coming from the Saints Trust that have hidden for most of the season and allied to to the main problems feel its a bit rich.
