  1. Was in Gunwharf today at the Nike/Addidas outlet looking for some boots for my lad.....they had the FA Cup on show and you could have your picture taken. The compere was asking which teams you supported....in the queue there were Man Utd, Chelsea, 3 Saints and 2 Pompey....... ;-) The chap who was guarding the cup was really interesting and gave us some history this is the 4th trophy since the 1800's. As soon as we said Southampton was our teaam he said Bobby Stokes 1976 Saints won the cup. I know I said I was there!!
  2. Interesting runners in the 3:30 and 4:05 at Salisbury today ;-) 8 White Dart Mr Leon Crouch Alan Munro M. R. Channon 9 Five Bells (IRE)Leon Crouch II Alan Munro M. R. Channon I didnt know Leon was a horse owner good luck although 5 Bells looks dodgy.
  3. We did...or couldn't in some cases. The rules state you must field at least 6 of your first squad. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8284894.stm Torquay http://matchcentre.johnstonestrade.com/?cid=116&mid=18435 Charlton http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/8205339.stm Birmingham Unless you are saying Mellis, Perry, Thomas, James, Gillett were our strongest players? On many occasions we had to change the side due to being cup tied or ineligible and keep in some of our stronger squad like Lambert as Barnard couldn't play.
  4. Had a small each way on Canford Cliffs. I had a bad start doing Absa Lutte Aspects of Love Sophies Beau who went off like a train then ran out of puff over a furlong out!!! Managed to claw back all my stakes plus a small bit more with Casual Glimpse and Eltheeb who strolled it with over 2 lenths to spare. One to watch for the future is Chilworth Lad who may of beaten Casual Glimpse had he not made to run a bit wider in the last half a furlong.
  5. You smooth talking b8sta8rd is that your best chat up line???
  6. We did that one last year....you need to be there at 6:30 ish if you want to get in as it gets really busy. We made far more at Shootash than at Tesco Bursledon - punters didn't want to hassle you down to 10p for everything!!
  7. Thanks for that...I tend to follow Hannon/Gosden/Hills at Goodwood so may just do theirs if nothing I really fancy betting on in a race. My Losers.... My Kingdom for a Horse 2:15 Absa Lutte 2.50 Kerrys Requiem 3.25 Aspect of love 4.00 Compton Park 4.35 based only on the facts that my nipper plays for Compton and the jockey is wearing the same colours as the team!! Casual Glimpse 5.10 Eltheeb 5.40
  8. I am off to Goodwood on Saturday any hints, tips, trainers to follow there? Been quite a while since I last went.
  9. Did you know Saints won the FA Cup in 1976??
  10. Totally agree...have seen him 4 maybe 5 times - talks a good game just a shame he can't play one! He gets around the pitch ok just doesn't seem to do anything with it when he has the ball. Its either a yard pass nowhere or given away or he just never quite gets there and gives away free kicks.
  11. Lambert without a doubt but the player I have enjoyed watching most this season is Jaidi. I have absolutely loved the fact that finally we have had someone who has scared the #### out of an opposing striker something not done since Svennson in the Prem. Rather than the namby pamby types we have had.
  12. Big rumour that Mark Hughes was interviewed. Not sure if true just what I heard.
  13. One recent one that didn't last too long was Dunnes where Matalan is now opposite Civic Centre. I went into the one in Limerick a few years before the one opened in town and they had some great bargains.
  14. Who said you were moaning and I am very calm....we could of picked up points at Brentford, Millwall, Tranmere, Wycombe.....also had we won 3 of the first ten we would be well in with a shout.
  15. But the chopping and changing of the team had to happen due to players being cup tied...what else could we do??? Thats what having a squad is for...the problem was we started the season with a **** one and had to build it up at very short notice and from January. Can you name me a bad player that Pardew has bought in that hasnt improved the squad....not having a pop but getting a bit annoyed at people moaning about the JPT. Those people forget that its been 34 years since we won anything!! The fans deserve their day in the sun and so do the management.
  16. Why would the JPT stop us ? Surely winning in whatever breeds confidence? Do you not think that Cortese/Liebherr having a day out at Wembley and seeing the club win a cup would not sow a seed of wanting more? If anyone begrudges seeing Liebherr face at the final whistle at Wembley and the Pardew handshakes at the end then they can just go fck themselves IMO.
  17. Were you so ****ed at the JPT you couldnt see who crossed for the handball?? Your blinkered approach to him baffles me - why dont you admit your wrong here?
  18. Like all players at this level ...inconsistent....thats why they are at this level and not Premiership. On his day he is very good but on several occasions he has tried to be too flash and not play simple ball and ****ed up and played poorly. Good signing though and added a different dimension to the team.
  19. Balanced by our points against Norwich - top of the league though ;-)
  20. Was the prison van full of childrens doctors visiting Paulsgrove??
  21. I know we say this most weeks but that ref was abysmal for both teams. He was so far away from play he was just guessing half the time. How he missed Fonte's handball beats me - we got away with that....evens it self out over a season ;-)
  22. Just so you can stop throwing your toys out of the pram.....there was a mention at half-time that was well supported by applause by both sets of fans. They had buckets outside the fire station and nearly every fan I saw walk past put some money in.
  23. Poquelin in the 3:10 never going and dived off!!
  24. My tip was going well till hit 3rd last and ended up 3rd.
