For a main board discussion: How many different countries have you listened to or watched Southampton from? A gold star for the person with the most.. For those heading to The Ashes, I thought I might try and take advantage of the week off and slip this onto the main page! Shhhhhh Hi Guys, Thought you got VERY lucky with the Ashes win on home turf...it will(hopefully) be a different story in Oz! As you may, or may not have noticed, we've now connected over 2000 Saints fans in Oz and regularly stage events to watch Southampton play, despite the late kick off times. I was just after an idea of how many of you are planning to come to Australia for the upcoming Ashes series. If there's enough interest, I'll put together a complete guide of where to watch the Saints while in Oz for the entire series. It would be great for our Oz based supporters to watch some pretty big matches(Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham) with our travelling Saints fans. We can be found on either facebook.com/southamptonaustraliansupporters or on Twitter @AussieSaintsSAS Also keep an eye on the #GlobalSFC hashtag for events. COYR + Baggie Greens!

Saints fan Andy Crowe will feature in today's Matchday Programme for our 'GlobalSFC' section. It takes Andy six days to get from his home in Saint Helena to St Mary's! Thought it might be a decent discussion to hear what people have given up to get to a Saints game. A family member/friends wedding? Cutting short a holiday? Sleepless night for an away match? Losing a truckload of brownie points with the missus? I'm sure there's some great stories out there! On a similar note, we had our Aussie Rules grand final today; with 100,007 in attendance. Some of the supporters of the Perth based team had to fly from Perth to Singapore to Melbourne just to get to the game, others drove for 2 days straight across the Nullarbor. Can any Saints fans come up with similar stories? 3-0 Saints(Ozvaldo 2, Morgan 1)

Do you think players get advised not to look on this forum?

Second on banning Turkish. It's incredible that he's still allowed to post. Has almost single-handedly ruined this place, which I'm sure takes great pleasure in. -
Hi Thai Saint, I'm doing a set of feature stories about our global support for the Matchday Programme, I'm currently working on one about our supporters in Thailand and I was hoping that you could assist. If you could email me on saintsletiss@hotmail.com I'll reply with a few brief questions. Regards, Trevor

The Gambia - Here to brighten up an already sunny day....
aussiesaint20 replied to St Louis's topic in The Saints
Have just seen this for the first time, brilliant! I'm actually doing a series of feature stories in the Matchday Programme this season under the title 'GlobalSFC' and would love to do an updated story about our Saints man from Gambia. Could go into even more depth than the original Echo story with 2 or 3 extra pictures included. If anyone connected to Hassan or the Reeves would be able to help out by putting me in contact with them, it would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted for this project on saintsletiss@hotmail.com Last week's edition was about Francisco, an Argentinian born and bred Southampton fan. In the upcoming weeks there will be stories of support from New Zealand, Saint Helena and Singapore. If you are a fan living outside the UK, or know of someone, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks again to the original poster for sharing this story! Cheers, Trevor F -

It's been a long 3 months between seasons, but the day is finally here! For a different take on our support throughout today, follow the #GlobalSFC conversation. For those not on Twitter the following link is your best bet. Our head of the 'Irish Saints' is tracking his journey to today's game as well as a few other Saints fans attending their first ever Southampton match! There's already 15+ at our event in Brisbane, with their brand new 'Southampton FC in Oz' banner. I know this won't be interesting to everyone, but I'm sure there's some that will enjoy following our support from abroad. The hashtag is also a useful way to find Saints fans in your area, be it while on holiday or a permanent move overseas. Divided by distance, united by our support. COYR!!

Have been working on connecting and building our overseas support in the last couple of months, so I'll give it a go. These are Facebook statistics in relation to your question: # Country Local Fans % of Fan Base 1 United Kingdom 35700 62.6 % 2 Thailand 1231 2.2 % 3 United States 1187 2.1 % 4 Indonesia 1179 2.1 % 5 Australia 1155 2.0 % Other Countries 16602 29.1 % Those figures only include people that 'like' the official Southampton Facebook page(57,000 atm). Some of the more impressive numbers worldwide on Social Media include: 1200+ Indonesian Saints on Twitter 5000+ Japanese Saints on Twitter 1100+ Thai Saints on Facebook 800+ Russian Saints on the Russian version of Facebook 1800+ Australian Saints combined on Facebook or Twitter For a full listing of up do date overseas groups visit the following link: 'Social media pages and important links for Saints fans outside Southampton' If you are living outside the UK and use Facebook or Twitter, make sure to include the #GlobalSFC hashtag this season to connect with other Saints from around the world. Hope that helps.

It appears that fixtures have been changed up until the weekend of 7th December. I'm working on an ultimate Southampton Ashes tour itinerary, for Saints fans travelling to Oz to watch the Ashes, and would love to know when they'll be altered. The Manchester City game particularly(Adelaide test) as we're planning to have people come from all over Oz and New Zealand to take part in a massive Saints event at The Rosemont Hotel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, 1400 Saints fans in Canada on Facebook. If one of you guys set up a Facebook page for Canadian Southampton FC fans I'll help you guys connect at least a third of them in a couple of weeks. Only takes a couple of minutes to set up the page and I can help with that step as well if need be, have recently done the same with Australia, New Zealand and now Hong Kong. Trevor. -
None. #GlobalSFC is actually an abbreviation similar to the extended version you've listed above. The problem with Twitter however, is that you need to abbrev. almost everything to say what you want to #annoying. For most of us under the #GlobalSFC banner it's not feasible to get to games regularly, but that doesn't mean we support the club any less. We've already had people connect with our Australian group through the hashtag. People that thought they were the only Saints supporters in the country. It's actually brilliant fun watching games in the early hours of the morning, on the other side of the world with like minded Southampton people, a lot of which I've become great friends with. But, like everything in the world, it's not for everyone.

PRE-SEASON: UE Llagostera vs Southampton

Enjoy the day! Have replied to your message. Look forward to hearing from you. Saints 3-1 -
New Zealand 'page' now has 200+ members from a much smaller total of overall Southampton fans, when compared to the Midlands. As I said, if someone sets up a Facebook PAGE, I'm more than happy to spread the word! 250 by next week..

Through Facebook advertising. I placed an ad for our group and the NZ one recently. Those figures are accurate. We still get people joining our pages, shocked that they're not the only Saints fan in Oz.

Check the Australian or New Zealand Facebook links for an idea of what I'm talking about.
