You can now listen to Episode 3 of Le Pod which I assume is the first SFC dedicated podcast from the USA.. Quick background on the hosts of Le Pod: Tim Foley, a lifelong Southampton fan, born in Salisbury and now living in the States & Jack Lambert who adopted the Saints, in 2011, when he began working with Tim. Together (IMO) they make a fantastic representation of the two types of Southampton fans outside the U.K: The born and bred Southampton fan, like Tim, and a football follower born elsewhere, like Jack, who has come to love the Saints all the same. Enjoy your listening and I'm sure the guys are keen to hear your feedback, both positive and negative.

Looks like it's back to the classics then T.. "You're fu**ing shiiiiiiit, you're fu**ing shiiiiiiit, you're fu**ing sh1t, you're fu**ing sh1t, you're fu**ing shiiiiiiit" Although if anyone should be sung that song, it's probably Sunderland.

Should this be OUR song? A more recent version From our USA Saints group and r/SaintsFC: "The Bells of St. Mary's" is a song from 1917. The music was written by A. Emmett Adams and the lyrics by Douglas Furber, following a visit to St. Mary's Church, Southampton, England It passes every test of a good football song we can think of: Close historical ties ✅ Unique to the club ✅ Still relevant ✅ Slow paced ✅ Hairs on the back of the neck ✅ St Mary's Church was also where the memorial service for Markus Liebherr took place: "St Mary's Church is seen as the ideal setting for the club to pay its respects, being the location where St Mary's Young Men's Association FC was founded. 125 years later, Saints will be returning to the church to gather and remember a man who truly loved the club." We think it's time for the #BellsOfStMarys 1st link: "Oh bells of St. Mary's, we always will love you With your inspiration, we never will fail Your chimes will forever, bring sweet memories of you So proudly ring out, while we sing out Hail, hail, hail" 2nd: The bells of St. Mary's Ah! hear they are calling The young loves, the true loves. Who come from the sea And so, my beloved When red leaves are falling The love bells shall ring out Ring out for you and me The bells of St. Mary's At sweet even time Shall call me, beloved To come to your side Different variations of the lyrics.

Despite not living in the States, I thought I might add my 0.02c to the conversation. I manage our United States of Southampton FC group along with a handful of other Southampton fans living in the U.S. The SFCUSA page has reached an audience of 230,000 so far in October and can also drive hundreds of people a day through to the club's online store. The group now has a dozen live venues for Saints fans to watch matches in, although it's still a consistent fight against the "Big 6" for screen time. These live venues are a way to match up a vibrant online community with the more traditional offline aspects of football. There's also a SaintsWeb style (minus the trolling) forum dedicated to the Saints on Reddit - with the majority of contributors from the States. For those interested in which Premier League teams Americans are following, these are the Facebook figures taken from October 1st. 1st Manchester United: 2,388,155 2nd Chelsea: 1,080,257 3rd Arsenal: 900,542 4th Liverpool: 605,187 5th Man City: 429,682 6th Tottenham: 169,494 7th Everton: 67,243 8th Newcastle: 43,893 9th Aston Villa: 42,164 10th West Ham: 35,232 11th Swansea: 20,606 12th SOUTHAMPTON: 19,993 13th Sunderland: 14,420 14th Crystal Palace: 11,991 15th Stoke: 11,329 16th Norwich: 10,646 17th West Brom: 9,303 18th Leicester: 7,922 19th Watford: 5,563 20th Bournemouth: 2,862 - I wrote the below recently referring to our massive potential global fan base. It was modelled towards non-native English speaking countries, but is certainly relevant to the USA as well. I know the idea of overseas supporters is cringeworthy to some on here, but the fact of the matter is that they will end supporting a Premier League team regardless. Why not Southampton? 'With the Premier League now being broadcast to 700million+ households around the world, there is a huge potential supporter base available for Premier League clubs. In a traditional media sense a young football fan is going to be inundated with coverage focussed towards the “Big 6”, both in the matches being shown and through day-to-day reporting. However, teams outside the "Big 6" now have their own platform to promote their club, in their own way: Social Media. The key to Southampton winning the hearts and minds of young football fans around the world is through positive and consistent engagement, using controllable modern media sources to position our club as a unique and viable option outside the traditional "Big 6". The remaining hurdle then is how do we increase the chances of the young football fan hearing our positive SFC message, preferably, consistently. The key to sharing this unique Southampton message with the rest of the world is localised social media accounts. This has proved to have already worked in both Brasil and Thailand, where our localised supporter groups have driven higher numbers than some of the otherwise out-of-reach "Big 6". Localised supporter groups can also provide a boost in short-term revenue, through directing traffic to the official online store & in the long-term by creating strong online and offline communities which help to continually grow and solidify our overseas supporter bases. Obviously Premier League and European success is the main driver of a club's following, but there is a lot that can be done within that space to improve a club's standing and support, regardless of form. If you were wondering what a Saints fan in the States looks like, here's a few of our SFCUSA's.

Another brilliant edition of football's #1 blog! You've got a cult following Down Under Debbie Davison What a brilliant review and spot on!! Bill Irving: My favourite saints blog Adrian Shepherd: "So in summary, Saints win at Chelsea, Terry f***s up, Mourinho has a meltdown, & Rodgers gets sacked. Not many weekends will be as good as this one. Enjoy!" Brilliant Peter Watkins: Most accurate commentary of all, full of facts and clever opinion! "John Terry has dived in like he did when Wayne Bridge went out for a pint of milk" - priceless! John Harris: Best saints blog

Will be in London that weekend and would love to play! I'm a decent enough at the indoor version, but I've never actually played an 11-a-side game..although I have played hundreds of 18-a-side games in a different sport.

Completely agree. Two Espanyol fans in their teens, in team colours, celebrated the goal and were then abused and threatened by a few "adult" Saints fans trying to act all 'ard. These same fans called the stewards over and pretty much forced them to move the Espanyol lads. It was a friendly FFS. Embarrassing and unnecessary. Fair play to the Espanyol fans for taking the abuse with good humour. They've travelled all that way for a friendly. It's not exactly a Scouse fan celebrating a Lovren goal in the Prem. With 500+ Saints fans having tickets in the Vitesse seats for Thursday I hope they're a little less fu**wittish than the handful of morons in the Northam today.

[uPDATE] I've finally got around to combining these with the club's video. The first cab off the rank is the Korean version. It's proving pretty popular with the locals going off the comments and has been viewed over 7,000 times already. Social Media is a great equaliser for a club like ours. It gives us a platform to showcase our unique principles rather than our usual mainstream media coverage, which is a mix of nothing or rehashed transfer rumours. It's not that surprising that the message is proving popular in Korea, having learnt the language at school I know just how much they value working hard to achieve success and being part of a close family/community. 우리들은 사우샘프턴이다 We March On. The other version I've done so far is the Portuguese translation and unsurprisingly, the Brazilians absolutely love it. The unique connection between Southampton and Brazil is fairly well known and a lot of the locals are massive Saints fans.

[update] Have finally turned the Charles Miller Day in Brasil into a short video. Can anyone spot the next GDP out there? These kids are super talented (not just because they scored past two hopeless keepers) and still love the Saints. Their coaches tell me they still turn up to training in their Southampton tops and are now hoping to one day play at St Mary's instead of Old Trafford! You never know..

Can't remember not seeing that place packed! Must make the effort to go there next time

Hear what you're saying with TA, but the difference here will be that locations for A, B, C and F will be mapped together, including reviews/opinions by Saints fans for Saints fans. The majority of which are not from TSW, not as yet.. As mentioned above, we're regularly asked these questions during the season and can't really give a definitive answer, mainly because we're not over in Southampton all that often and also due to the different demographics of our group. From Southampton born couples taking their Australian born kids to their first Saints games, through to a 30-year-old Australian born Saints fan who ended up grabbing all the headlines. It's an interesting mix..

Not sure if serious (it's often hard to tell on here).. Just in case, the majority of those that make the trip from Australia are either born in Southampton or have relatives who were. Not to mention those who head to the pub every week at 1 or 2am to watch Saints play. Feel free to check out the Aussie Saints community, we're a very welcoming lot. During the season we (the SAS Admin team) regularly get messages asking the above questions and I was hoping to answer those as best as possible with the help of other Saints fans. Thanks to all those who've genuinely responded. I guess I'll see the rest of you at KFC

This is something I'm hoping to put together for our Aussie Saints fans and others in a similar situation. I certainly would appreciate the input of our SaintsWeb community. All that's required are your replies to any of the options below ? A) Best pubs to drink in before/after Saints games? B) Best restaurants in Southampton? C) Best accommodation in and around Southampton? D) Favourite section of St Mary's stadium and why? E) Where and when to meet the players outstide St Mary's? F) Activities and sights in and around Southampton for non-matchdays. Many thanks in advance, Trevor

Thanks for the reply LLP! I have 'Suited and Booted' and 'All the Saints' (both brilliant) from the Hagiology guys. I also have a copy of The Saints Miscellany, by Graham Hiley. I'm in a pretty good position to make a decent run of it myself, but was keen to get some contributions from everyone else as well

Rightio. The comprehensive list from Markus Liebherr's arrival to today is now up to date! 76 (that happened by chance) memorable moments (mostly videos) from our incredible rise from the bottom of League One to European football. Perfect for a mood lifter and a splash of context when we inevitably lose a few matches next season. The next project: Take a trip further down memory lane and compile a similar list for the pre-ML years. I'm calling on the SaintsWeb community for ideas, links and any contributions. A few that come straight to mind: - '76 FA CUP - The Charles Miller story - Le Tiss' - 6-3 against United - Last game at The Dell

Only half serious here, but how far away would 'Our Journey' be from becoming an actual documentary/movie? Considering the incredible popularity of the Premier League (especially in the US) it's not the worst idea..Perhaps as a sequel to the NBCSports 'The Southampton Way' documentary? If made properly with some funky editing and dramatic music it would attract a ridiculously large audience and do wonders for us globally. Who wants to give Hollywood or NBC the call?
