WEEKLY UPDATE - Despite no game for us a significant week with Hughes appointment, confidence gained from cup win and other results seeing us out to 5/2 to go down.
-
No it means they don't settle on someone described as interim manager unless he completes 10 games, but also the same for someone described as permanent.
-
No, league games only.
-
The Betfair market is only settled if a manager completes 10 games in charge which means you have the bizarre situation where you can currently back Mark Hughes to be next Saints manager at around 4/6 despite the fact that he already is! Working out if that is a good or bad price is a particularly salty problem imo. I think we can be pretty sure he will complete 8 games but you then have to factor in the likelihood of whether we stay up or not and whether that makes him more likely to stay or not. For an odds addict like me it is, as I say, a fascinating one.
-
Now odds against on Betfair, however their market stipulates the new manager must take charge of ten games so that is probably just reflecting the talk of an interim contract.
-
You can still get 4/5 on Hughes on Betfair which suggests it MAY not be as cut and dried as it appears.
-
Betfair market up and running - Hughes now odds against and continuing to drift....
-
Don't want to get anyone's hopes up (especially as it was only for a few quid) but he was just matched at 1/2 on Betfair to be the next manager to go.....
-
POST NEWCASTLE UPDATE - Unsurprisingly a major price crash into just under 2/1 to go down (market still settling though with Palace game still on, Stoke to play yet etc).
-
Amazed at the lack of comment on this thread (although I do understand there have been more pressing concerns today!) - Chelsea go one up on Palace and the results today (other than the obvious) have been pretty much perfect for us. If (pretty big if) today was so bad the board finally take action we may perversely be in a better place than we were this morning.....
-
He's out apparently...
-
Oh and for the record I haven't put a penny on us going down (or staying up for that matter).
-
If you read this thread carefully my position has been clear and consistent. We have been in trouble the whole time, my point has been that plenty on here (not all by any means, granted) have been frankly childish with their "we are down and nothing can save us" nonsense when the table, the betting odds and a grain of common sense would tell you that is drivel. We are, as we were when this thread started in trouble and we may go down, but that is not only not certain but less likely than likely as things stand. Trust this helps you Heisenberg...
-
Not saying this is right or wrong but thought it may interest/astonish some on here to know that we (useless, rudderless, inevitably down) are this morning the same price (to exactly the same 1/10 of a point!) as Swansea (vibrant, resurgent, clearly going to be fine).
-
Oh it's clearly a threat - and a big one too - my point (and perhaps the point of this thread) is that the "that's it!! (for the fourteenth time) we are definitely, absolutely, utterly down with not even a tiny chance of survival" stuff is a bit OTT and completely illogical.
-
My take (for what that's worth) is that the market has not just a more logical stance than some of us fans but more importantly a dispassionate one. We have some much emotion invested in it that it is difficult for some to see that fans of other clubs are feeling exactly the same as the majority on here. The Stoke forum theme is "We somehow escaped with a 0-0, but this was a must win, Lambert is clueless, we are down"....West Ham's is "I've been saying Gold and Sullivan would be the death of us and here we are shipping 4 at Swansea in a six pointer and now with literally no defence left. We are down".....Palace fans "No chance of anything in our next few games and by the time Zaha is back we'll be adrift - we are down"....even fans who are pleased with their team like Huddersfield still think "you just know the long season will catch up with us and the likes of Stoke and Southampton will nick a couple of wins and we'll go down". The point is "we" can't ALL be right - most of the fans currently thinking they are doomed (with the exception of West Brom) are quite likely to be wrong and that includes ours.
-
WEEKLY UPDATE - Forum desperately downbeat after the Stoke game - "We are down" certainly the commonest phrase seen in the post match chat. The market, whilst shortening us in to 7/2 to go down (close to the shortest we have been) still sees us as considerably more likely to stay up than go down.
-
POST BURNLEY UPDATE - Forum remains pretty downbeat, status quo maintained in the market with Saints 9/2 to go down. Interestingly (to me at least) looking at the prices just before Gabbigol popped up suggests we would have still been at least 3/1 to go down if we had lost whereas on here, a loss but no managerial sacking would have left a pretty high percentage completely resigned to relegation imo.
-
Ticket details have just gone up - two questions...a) Is an allocation of 3,000 not tiny in a stadium that size? b) What are the chances of it selling out before getting to official members? Thanks in advance....
-
Just answer the question.....
-
I'll make it simple for you - would you like to reconsider what you wrote or do you still think we are ****ed if we draw at Burnley and beat Stoke?
-
Honestly, do some of you lot think for even a second before you post some of this nonsense? Let's say we draw at Burnley and beat Stoke - we'll be out of the bottom 3 (possibly by several places and a couple of points with a vastly superior GD to boot), we'll have lost once (to Liverpool) in ten games and have three hugely winnable games up next - and yet according to you we'd be "****ed". Remarkable.
-
Are you dim enough to just read and comment on the first few words of a post lasting just two sentences?
-
And now 5/1.....
