Betfair isn't your traditional bookies though, it's an exchange, so the price SHOULD be an accurate reflection of the likelihood of results.
-
The market for the opening game against Citeh is up and running on Betfair - without looking, what price do you think Saints are? Place your bets please....
-
Sorry to hear that - have you tried viagra?
-
To put this in yet more perspective, people will currently (gladly) give you 600/1 on Betfair....
-
First of all I know that some people say they couldn't possibly back against the Saints (fair enough but illogical imo - it doesn't mean you don't want them to win), however......after yesterday's results we have been somewhere between 1.35 and 1.4 to get promoted (that's between 4/11 and 2/5 in old money) and I think if you put in a "lay" at 1.4 you would certainly get your bet taken. Given that a lot of people here are both petrified we won't go up and rating it somewhere near 50/50 (a lot less than that in some cases) you would be crazy not to avail yourself of these prices imo. Just saying.....

We USED to have a good record on a Friday night in ye olden days - the famous Danny Wallace overhead kick against Liverpool was on a Friday night, as was a good away win in the cup (Blackburn?) via David Armstrong.
-
That seems conclusive - thanks chaps.

Don't live in Southampton anymore but off out in Bevois Valley/Portswood tonight - where's the best place for a good curry?
-
Excuse my ignorance (don't go to many away games these days) but i've got my Hull tickets and there is no seat number on them. Is it just first one in it gets it, and doesn't that make things awkward if it's a sell-out?
-
Personally, I would say there is no chance of 80 points being enough.....
-
I can't remember how many "must win " games to have a chance of going up we didn't win last year. About 10 I think....
-
All this promotion push stuff? The first clue was when I was waiting for the full time whistle at Hull, a game that in all probability won't affect whether we go up or not, with clenched fists. The second was when I went to bed smugly thinking of the last day fixtures when we're at home to Coventry, and Birmingham and Reading play each other, only to wake bolt upright at three in the morning realising "One of them will probably still have a chance of automatic whilst the other will know they are in the play-offs and play their reserves - it's the best fixture of all! What was I thinking?!! Oh my God...." And i've still got three months of this....

Taking every crumb of comfort after last night's results!
-
Don't shoot the messenger, but was told today that Sharp is a done deal that (obviously) can't be announced till January. I do not KNOW this to be true, but the source is so random that I expect it is.

For those who thought today would be a very hard game to win even before Lallana was out, you may be interested to know you can lay us at a shade of odds on currently on Betfair. Fantastic value insurance in my opinion - but as ever I will be over ecstatic to pay out.
-
Adkins out - enough's enough.
-
Does that statement include the 19 leads we have held this season or not?
-
I've said it before and i'll say it again.....

Did my b*llocks - get in!! -
They have some extraordinary clauses in their contracts these days don't they?
-
Not quite as outstanding as last week but the 7/4 at Betfair for Peterborough tonight is very fair insurance for those that are that way inclined.

Southampton Sheffield Wednesday 2nd Half

A tragically unsurprising piece of attention seeking aftertiming? Never. Get away with ya....No, really. -
Ok, who thinks it was a big price now...
-
Those increasingly worried about the Peterborough juggernaut, and the tiny likelihood of pitiful Sheff Wed derailing it on Tuesday night may be interested to know that currently on Betfair the visitors are bigger than 7/4 - in fact Sheff Wed are marginal favourites. A case for a bit of insurance I would have thought....

Struck a nerve Alps?

10/1/82 Alpine Saint - So it looks like Europe again this year and most of this site seems happy with that. Where is the ambition ffs! Wake up you lot - we have Keegan, Channon, George etc and you're happy with a season in which we never remotely looked like getting involved in the title race. Oh that's ok - we're only little Southampton and we do play lovely football at home....what good is that ffs?!! Look at Liverpool, they grind out results home AND away, why can't we be like them? I'll tell you why - McMenemy. With the squad he has we should walk this league, and if he can't get the best out of them hopefully the board will have the guts to get someone in who can. Meanwhile you lot can stick your heads back in the clouds and "enjoy" the next home game when we'll probably put several past whoever we play with the most exciting football this club has ever seen, whilst I see them for what they really are - a bunch of under achieving prima donnas.
