  1. Seems Burnley fans won't be shedding too many tears at the distress down the M27.....and yet the blue few would have you believe that all of football is sympathetic to their plight and it is only us Saints that revel in their pain. From Clarets Mad....
  2. Northumberland Ave - Gateshead must be around here somewhere - if we ever get promoted to their level
  3. That gives me a great idea. In keeping with the historic city status - Poorsmouth Council, English Heritage and the FA should get together to compulsory purchase Krap Nottarf and preserve it as a museum of football stadia from 100 years ago. AFC Poopey could be allowed to play home games there on condition they wear authentic early 1900's kit. The blue phew will have somewhere to go every other week - but they must also wear costumes from the early 1900's - shouldn't be too difficult, I'm sure they have plenty of that stuff in the back of the wardrobe if they just move the Diadora tracksuits out of the way. Chainrai gets £5m back, The council and English Heritage get to share the museum proceeds, and the phew still get to visit FP. Everyones a winner!
  4. Oi.....thought the blue line had been drawn.......move along....
  5. :D:D:D:D Job done.....come on Brum.
  6. Disappointed - but they didn't crumble as most expected when going a goal down and a draw was well earned. What worries me more is the impact on the players with 3 games in 6 days and the mental impact of conceding the late equaliser. The pressure is mounting - but I am sure WHAM or Reading will slip up too at some point. Don't have any nails left to bite though.
  7. Encouraging performance from Lester - but hope this is not a taste of the post-Papelbon era - must be tough for Aceves being thrown into the closer's spot when everyone has had him down for a possible starting slot.
  8. Are you all saying WHU will win for some kind of superstitious reason? Just doesn't seem that clear cut to me - really think Posh can get something tonight.
  9. The Football league are in breach of this policy then....Pompey currently have more than 14 fit players.....but they were still allowed to bring more in.
  10. I'm starting to believe St Markus is guiding us to the Promised Land.
  11. This would have been a significant development and I'm sure we would have heard lots about it - but nothing in the Premier League rulebook as far as I can see. Probably one of those things that was being floated around a couple years back when they were re-negotiating....and subsequently dropped.
  12. Hoping for some good news on this........Come on Fabrice.
  13. Good find......if the USA has 'A Question of Sport' equivalent - that will be one to remember.
  14. 2 FA Cup Finals 1 European Tour 0 Money to pay for it RIP PFC
  15. That could happen in Pompey soon - they will need somewhere to go.
  16. That would make a lot more sense - if it was £400k plus his wages then there should be a stewards inquiry. Can't say I'm too concerned by these loans if it gives them the money to see out the season - my opinion might change though if Mullins pops up with the winner at St Mary's.
  17. Or...maybe HR has got wind of the same rumours mentioned above that Hodgson is getting it. So rather than self-deprecating, he is merely moving himself into position for a statement next month along the lines of - The England job would be an honour, but we have come such a long way at Spurs - great fans , fantastic squad - and I think we are on the verge of challenging for the title. It would be wrong to leave now....blah, blah...... That would suit me fine.....don't want Spurs sniffing round Nigel either.
  18. Maybe he just got the quote from Hampshire Police for 'the Bubble' - gotta cost a few quid.
  19. Have to say I was gutted when Jason Bay joined the Mets - not that he has done a whole lot since he has been there. Bay was out of contract and couldn't agree a new deal with the Red Sox. I think the money was on the table but there was some disputed medical reports that led to the Red Sox and their insurers wanting to put provisions in the contract to terminate early based on certain medical/fitness factors. Bay was not happy - the Mets made an offer and the rest is history. Yes, Tek and Wake were long past their prime - but they were fixtures around Fenway and it will be odd not to see them around - but in a baseball sense, probably best for the team that they have called it a day. Still undecided on Valentine, but he certainly has a charisma that Francona lacked. Nice to shutout the Yankees last night - even if it was just Spring Training.
  20. Might be expensive - but generally the designs don't change a great deal so you will get many years use out of a baseball jersey (provided you don't put a players name on it). There might be a special design this year to commemorate 100 years at Fenway. Live just outside Boston so have been following the Red Sox for a few years. Usually make it to Fenway a few times a year, plus done aways in Seattle and Toronto. Not sure what to expect this year - No Francona, Varitek, Papelbon, Wakefield. General Manager also gone. Could be one of those transitional years. Spring training is nothing to worry about - most games at this stage will only have about half the starting line up featuring - lots of trialists/minor league players feature as they try to get their chance in the Majors. At least Ortiz seems to be finding his stroke, which is a good sign as recently it seems he can't find it until sometime in May.
  21. I'm not claiming copyright.
  22. Don't have a creative bone in my body - but for some reason felt inspired to do this.....apologies to Rudyard. IF If you can support your team when all about you Are moaning and blaming it on (The FA/FL/PL/Chainrai/Gady/MadMilan/etc) If you can keep the faith when all men despise you, But be ignorant of their reasons why: If you can whinge and not be tired by whinging, Or, being lied about, whilst dealing in lies, Or feeling betrayed by Storrie, who as promised, Has taken you to a level you would not believe; If you can cheat--- then see yourself as victim; If you can’t think---so not to hurt your brain, If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And not realize that the latter is what you deserve, If you can bear to see the lies you've spoken Analysed by Saintsweb to make you look like fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stand idly by with your fellow tools; If you can live in the shadow of the Mighty Saints And yet ‘Best team in ‘ampshire’ is your claim, If you won a few honours half a century back And since failed to develop your tinpot shack, If you desert your team in its hour of need: ‘Pack the Park’ – hmmm – that went well, indeed £9.50 a ticket – Best fans in the league? If you can put up with that bell ringing tvvat, Or sleep with your sister---and think it’s a normal act, If ‘Pompey til I die’ is your cry While the rest of the league say ‘ P!ss off, bye, bye’ If you manage to complete an unforgiving season Yet finish bottom when all is done, Yours is Portsea and everything that's in it, And---which is more---you'll be a Skate, my son!
  23. £9.50 a ticket for arguably their most important game of the season - lose this and I think they are definitely down - Farton should be bursting at the seams - no excuses. The DFCSB's cry out for help from every quarter, want fans of other clubs to come and support them as a show of unity, but can't be bothered to shell out less than a tenner in their hour of need. As with much of the goings on down there - it just beggars belief.
  24. A few days ago I was thinking (hoping) this could be an option - but having done the bbc predictor on the bottom 6, I can't see any way we will be able to send them down.
  25. Its those refs - got it in for them you know - fancy not awarding them a goal before kick-off
