May I offer my hearty congratulations to the PDT/PST - League 2 is a fitting level for PFC and I eagerly await the start of the infighting amongst the chosen phew charged with gaining promotion from L2.
-
British politics has been completely dull for two decades now. There is no point trying to persuade those who refuse to acknowledge her achievements. Even as an admirer, I know she had many, many faults....but I will say this.....she was bloody marvellous. RIP Margaret...and Thanks.
-
A bit surprised by this - but happy for SRL. Look forward to his 100th PL goal in a Saints shirt. MP will be in trouble for not displaying his watch in the picture.
-
Come on Reading.....you know you want to....
-
In other news....I see Watford have avoided a points deduction for financial irregularities as the persons involved are no longer at the club..... I wonder how Luton feel.......and does this offer any hope for the PDT?
-
Don't see why not - what is the point of the punishment otherwise. When we didn't go into admin, we were punished because our parent company had and the punishment was applied 'in the spirit of rules' or something like that. Would seem reasonable for the FL to exercise its discretion and apply the punishment when it actually has some effect. On the other hand, I can see the FL not wanting to put the boot in to the biggest and bestest (a little bit) fan-owned community club in the land.

There has been a lack of hope down fratton way lately, and seeing as it is the 'hope that kills', seems entirely appropriate for agent Connolly to inject a bit of hope - only adds to the despair as the winless sequence continues.
-
True...but Cov's landlords offered a deal to reduce this to ~£400k, which Cov rejected as it was 'unsustainable in League One'. As commercial property, the Fratton site might yield a rent of £900k - but first you need to remove a derelict stadium and build some property - could easily eat up £10m or more.
-
Was a good finish, and from what I heard from the commentators, Ben Reeves had been quality throughout the game.
-
So another generous 3 pts donated to relegation rivals - Oldham, Bury and Hartlepool (again) must be eagerly awaiting similarly benevolent donations to their respective causes. Now, even the most simple of the web-toed folk recognise that all hope is lost. Only a deluded phew and the PST cling to the corpse that was once a football team. In fact, even they must now know the game is up. Stringing out the court case, delaying judgement day is the final desperate act of an organisation that knows it is beaten - unless that sugar daddy rides into town OR they eat their pride and on bended knees, beg the nice Mr Chainrai to step in once more. A business plan built on a promotion push to the Championship with fans backing the community owned club to the hilt - the same business plan now adapted to League Two, despite having to fund an additional £6m in player settlements and £2m extra to Portpin that was somehow overlooked. Oh and wait a minute, now they can afford to buy the stadium upfront. Seriously?? Mr Farmery - you're 'avin a larf. Now, more than ever, the good ship Portsmouth FC (or cheating, rotten cesspit) is fatally wounded. The battle cries of the 'best fans in the land' are being silenced. The feigned sympathy and admiration of many ill informed fans of other clubs has all but evaporated. As the cheats slip out of existence, it will not be in a blaze of glory or defiance. It will be with a shrug of the shoulders and a sigh of relief. A phoenix club may rise in a year or two, but it will be no AFC Wimbledon or FC United and I doubt it will make it back to The Football League in my lifetime. And the final insult....in not so many years time, the elder menfolk of Portsea will recount tales of a once proud football club to which their offspring will reply ' That's great Dad. When can we go to watch the Saints' WTFILN
-
Not only that, but farmery also said that he didn't know how much PKF's fees are as it was 'a matter between PKF and the creditors'. So that must be some outstanding vision being able to budget for something you don't know how much it will come to....and every court extension must increase.
-
Too complicated for them....but it would fit the bill
-
Another vote for Royal Caribbean - preferably on a Freedom Class ship - I think Independence of the Seas does the Med. With teenagers they are the best bet. I tend to find the only people who think they are not old enough for a cruise holiday are those who have never been on one. Cruising has come a long way in the last 15 years and provided you avoid the Saga/Fred Olsen type geriatric cruises, and the Thomson Holidays budget cruises - then you will probably have a great holiday. My last cruise (albeit in the Caribbean) had me Scuba Diving, Mountain Biking and PaddleBoarding and there is something for everyone if you pick the right ship.
-
So to sum up...... 1. Additional funding to buy the stadium has been found in a reworked business plan.....but Colin has not seen the latest business plan. 2. The High Court delay was good news for PST as it gives them extra time to convert pledges.......but Colin said that most of the outstanding pledges won't pay until the outcome of the court case is known. 3. Colin does not know the scale of PKF's fees because it is a matter between PKF and the creditors.......but he does know these fees are accounted for in the latest business plan........which he hasn't seen. 4. Colin doesn't actually know much about anything......other than all expenses are between PKF and the creditors......and the PST has covered everything in their business plan......which is based on their future revenue projections. So based on that....the Phew can rest easy.....all is well in PST land. And Nutjobs can rest easy that their is plenty more hilarity in store.

This. Happy with that tonight. And well done the fans. Showed appreciation for Nigel without poisoning the atmosphere.
-
Agreed - but that shouldn't be displayed though Matchday anger toward Cortese. Anyway - what is the end game? Getting Cortese to resign? Then what? Be careful what you wish for.
-
For the record - I am one of the 95% who voted that the decision was wrong. However, there is a difference between disagreeing with what Cortese has done and wanting him hung, drawn and quartered for it. I don't like what Cortese did - but I will support the Saints and I will give the new guy every chance to show why Cortese wanted him.
-
After the emotions of yesterday, let today be the start of a new positive phase of the Cortese/Liebherr plan. The Adkins phase is over, and we will be forever grateful, but we draw a line under it and move on to the Pochettino phase. As Saints fans we are used to Premier League relegation battles and occasional mid-table obscurity. Nicola Cortese is not. He has higher ambitions for this club - I never fully believed he seriously harboured dreams of taking Saints into Europe - but today I do believe that. Good players are discarded for better ones and no-one bats an eyelid - why should it be so different with a manager. Cortese may be a ruthless, nasty piece of work (spelled **** by some), but he has a bloodymindedness that is sometimes needed to be successful. If he is successful then Saints will be too. One thing I am sure of - he will not be the remotest part perturbed by fans calling him names, booing him, whatever and to be honest, I think he deserves a lot of credit for getting us this far. So, on Monday, by all means give recognition and thanks to Nigel -'One Nigel Adkins' for the first couple of minutes of the game, but then draw that line - let the team and Mauricio know that we are behind them, and lets continue to enjoy the ride as we have done these past few years. Lets not self-destruct, becoming divided and bitter. Our Chairman may have acted like Abramovich, but we are a better club than Chelsea, especially as fans - WE ARE SOUTHAMPTON.
-
Where was all this melodrama earlier in the season? The likes of Dean Hammond, Lee Barnard, Billy Sharp, Dan Harding all served us well over the promotion seasons, but were discarded - did they not deserve a crack at the big time having got us there? Kelvin Davis has been a rock for us in recent years - yet he too was quickly discarded after a few games. Nigel did not consider them good enough and sought replacements. Were fans up in arms then? Nigel is just a piece of the machine - Cortese does not believe he is up to the longer term ambitions of the club and has acted to replace him. I 100% feel that Nigel should have been given to the end of the season.....but Cortese felt otherwise and I am dismayed by the hysterical over-reaction of many on here. Get behind the team and Mauricio FFS!!

Don't be surprised if Coutinho is brought in...
BigShadow replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
That was my first thought....ok, maybe second thought...after hearing of the new manager. I hope I'm wrong, but have a nasty feeling Lambert might not be a Saint by the end of January. -
Thanks Nigel for the last two years - you deserved a better crack at the top flight and I have no doubt you'll be back soon. Now though, I must take you advice - draw a blue line, and move on to the next one. Best wishes to you and your family for a successful future.
-
...unless you're Poorsmuff.
-
That's 14 or 15 goals we've conceded in the 15 mins before half time this season. Way outstrips any other 15 minute period in the game for goals against. That half time cuppa must be a real distraction.
-
Oh dear....I'm stunned.....fkin amused....but stunned. Choir Practice for the phew. Quite simply...unbelievable.
-
Is it okay for Saints players to dive and cheat?
BigShadow replied to the stain's topic in The Saints
Watched it several times now......not convinced he was trying to con the ref - he saw the tackle coming and pulled his leg out of the way which as his weight was not centered on the other foot caused him to go down. For me, Jay Rod's reaction at the penalty award is telling. He looks totally confused, so he must be a very good actor if he can hide his delight at 'conning' the ref. So simple mistake by Mark Halsey, 3 points and can sleep easy tonight.
