Think he got the tactics right yeterday. Also from watching BBC interview looks like he has a different jacket for interviews, during the game he was wearing a grey suit, on BBC interview black jacket. Is the grey suit the new tracksuit for managers?
-
They were far better than Adam and Gastons last year. Obviously he was given the job by the manager as I can't remember Adam taking any set pieces today, could be wrong.
-
Nice to have someone in JWP who can get the ball in at free kicks and corners. Lovren, Wanyama and the out for weeks Shaw (amazing the difference a week makes) stand out players for me, and don't forget Boruc, as a goalie who had nothing to do all game kept his concentration. Congrats to Rickie, bet you haven't stopped smiling all wekk?

I doubt the management at SFC are anywhere near as obsesed with this player, can you imagine manager and chairman checking every minute to see if there has been a development? Do we really know that they are that interested in this guy? If it wasn't for this forum would there still be a story? oh for the days of no internet forums, twitter, facebook and whatever.

Trying to do a 'Fergie', seems like he feels hard done by the fixtures at start of season and implying a fix! Perhaps those matches were meant for us then? Can not see how if his start is a fix, then our much harder start last season was really fixed to try and send us down.
-
Still on cloud nine, thanks for that Rickie. Having seen all the clips of him being interviewed, surely there can not be a better role model than him. He seems so down to earth and such a nice guy, and you can see the joy in his face. Good to keep on hearing his thanks to SFC, and it sounds like he loves this club. I can't ever remember seeing anything bad said about him, or reports in newspapers of him doing anything wrong. Any youngster out there should take note, not everything in life can be made better by having a bigger wage packet.

Is it just me or is this the first time all the England players looks so genuinley pleased for a goal scorer. First time in ages I have jumped in the air to celebrate an England friendley goal. Great stuff Rickie, and for the mention of thanks to SFC. True legend material now, if ever doubted by some.

What does Rickie Lambert need to do this season to go to the World Cup?
Hedgehog replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
Unfortunately he could score 5 and will still not get picked again once the 'established' and players from the top four of the Prem are available. I hope I am wrong. No doubt the press etc. are hoping he has a mare, and then Roy can drop him with his conscience clear, but then moan about the lack of English strikers. -
:)

If this isn't a **** take, then these translation programmes are well sh1te. Makes F all sense this paragraph. Or have I just recovered from a stroke, and don't recognise English anymore?
-
Good to see Rickie in the pictures, and nice to see Rooney has recovered (a miracle), that means if Rickie gets a game they can't say it was because Rooney wasn't fit.
-
Probably nothing sets him out, apart from the fact there is a thread still running on here about him?
-
only just over 8,000 attendance. Think they overpriced this game for adults who had thought about turning up on the day, £20 a bit steep for a friendly, when cup games against lower opposition are generally cheaper than this in the early rounds. £10 would have been closer to what they should have charged. Prior commitments stopped me going, so I suppose even at that price I wouldn't have been able to add to this total.
-
If instead of Rickie then he'll be off to try and maintain his new England player (well squad) status. Then we will need to be looking for another striker.
-
Since the first post a month ago, can someone tell me who this guy is? Haven't the foggiest, or am I in the minority? Are we buying him (whoever he is), I must be missing something!
-
Well happy for his call up. People may say that he is not the future for England, and they would be correct, but if anyone deserves a call on current form then he does. Shame Hodgson put a dampner on it by saying the fact that Caroll wasn't available etc. Now Caroll was probably the worst striker I have seen in ages last season, falling over at the slightest of touches, but getting away with awfull tackles/fouls himself. No doubt Rickie will be given (i hope) a token 30 mins, and will be discarded forever if he does nothing during that period. However a Rooney or Wellbeck can do exactly the same in countless matches but will always be picked for future squads, I wonder why? Rickie could score a hatfull, but don't expect him to be included in future squads, or am I still hung up on Le Tiss's treatment when playing for the B squad!

If you could relive one footballing moment, what would it be?
Hedgehog replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Le Tiss last goal at the Dell. There used to be a clip of the radio commentry, brought out goosebumps everytime I heard it. Does anyone have a link to that clip? -
Or perhaps he is not foreign or have a foreign sounding surname. We all know you need to have a name ending in ez or have a De, Van or the like in front to be a true striker. Not sure how SRL stands in this scenario, or perhaps his first name being spelt with an ie rather than a plain y.

Who is to blame for the Summer of inactivity?
Hedgehog replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
I think some of the blame comes from Sky TV. They may have upped the ammount of money available to each club, but they have now inflated the price for players. When stupid money is being asked for the likes of Bale, Saurez Rooney etc. it ups the price of those lower down the pecking order. Too many clubs are looking for top striker(s), as goals are the only way you can win games, therefore perhaps we should blame other clubs for wanting strikers, and therefore stopping us in our first choices -
Thing is, Billy may not be a premiership player but is Mayuka (can't be bothered to check spelling). Why not keep him on our books until we find another striker. Starting to get concerned now that our striking department is pizz poor. If not coming from Rickie, our midfield has been proven to be pretty useless, where are the goals going to come from?
-
What will be your next 'X' any thoughts?
-
Bit unfair on both, Kelvin has made just as many blunders, and if I am wrong still no. 2 at Saints. Not knocking him, but perhaps we need to get a good understudy for Boruc?
-
Just switching channels and BBC1 doing a programme on Swansea City, surely that should have been regionalised. Who in England, let alone Southampton give a damn? Oh dear, no doubt will get some abuse for mentioning this, if you don't like don't watch etc. well I didn't. Just commenting on why should this be on national TV.
-
My point was, most people were deciding whether Wanyama was good enough after watching youtube. If unlike us, seeing Adam play week in week out, and we were neutrals and our club were after some guy called Adam Llanna, we would be writing pagefulls of why aren't we snapping this guy up.
-
Whilst I still feel frustrated about his decision making, shooting ability and doing crop circles when a pass would do, if you were to look at the following: we would be on page 30 of thinking of buying this player for £12 - 15mil on these clips. Hope he comes back stronger this season, injury free.
