Come back MLG. The forum needs you.

Crikey. Football fans are a strange lot aren't they.

New head of recruitment appointed. Brother of Tony!
Suhari replied to Paul Chuckle's topic in The Saints
Since our current strikers waddle around like a aqua avian out of water, I'm hoping this guy fits the bill. -
Would be nice to have a JWP direct free kick goal as a sign off. Really though: I just want this season to end.

Managed to listen to most of the second half once into Solent range on a drive from Oop noorf. Any positives for us, from you guys who watched?

With the greatest respect.....

Ahhh. The Boufal conundrum.

Immediate comment from a guy in my team who is an avid Aberdeen fan. Good move by Saints. He's responsible for signing Duk ('absolutely brilliant'), Miovski ('had a great season; linked with Southampton a few months back') and Ramadani ('very solid'). Says they're 3 of the best signings in years. -

I trust they are in no way akin to other famous brothers? Like, ummmm, I dunno.......the Schofields? -
I believe Steele is going? And rumours that Semmens is too. RA won't be going anywhere, since he is a part owner. Will be interesting to see if SR do make the same mistakes again, a fresh and novel bunch of new mistakes, or get more things right than wrong.

Good post. This is the type of stats-based stuff I quite enjoy; and that RA clearly gets a stiffy over. So...all things being as they were, but Swansea having better stiking options, and they get much closer to Burnley. Therefore Martin is great. And since we've got more ££ and will likely have a much better squad next season than Swansea had this, he'll help us win the league. Simples. Except for all the variables that don't crop up on excel, like man-management, rebuilding the squad, player egos, behind-the-scenes issues in the club, buying players based on stats etc etc. I do hope RA/Wilcox will make due consideration of the non-stats stuff when they make their decision.

SR trying to be clever. Again. It didn't work last time. I understand it......try and hire the next Potter, Frank etc. but it's a big risk. For every Potter or Frank there's a chunk of Mad-Nates and a whole bunch of total averageness. Always thought the SR model would be best implemented in a mid-table Championship club with a few seasons to build it (i.e. the next Brentford). Wasn't suited to the prem...is it suited to bouncing straight up? Very risky.

So much this. And the strange 3CB efforts at various times in the season, including the full pre-season trying it. It takes my mind back to the article in The Athletic which indicated lack of agreement, behind-the-scenes in direction. So maybe that's sorted now, which would be a good thing. Don't wan't us to stop the high press though. It's a great watch when it clicks.

I recall he was pictured at a number of Saints games around the time Jones was failing.
-
He's more right now than he was!

I planned on starting one asking which will be the first 5 players/senior staff members will leave first, and when. Kind of a deadpool game. Then I decided I'm really not that interested.

It is noticable that we haven't been doing this anything like as well as when we had Romeu in the team.
-
I liked him. In his early days, once he found his feet, he looked a gem of a player. Shame he had to work with shit. Okay: maybe he's not been that commited in the past few months, but who in the squad has. I think he'll go on and become a fantastic top-level defender.
-
I don't like yours much.

I've heard that the owners of Feyenoord are just honoured to be able to play big teams like Excelsior each week.

The Championship is the 6th best league in the world. Where does Eredevise sit on the list?
-
Do clubs normally make a statement when they're relegated? Wonder if it'll be some bland PR shit, or something meaningful.
-
He's the beating heart of the club. Apparently.

He's doing well. Normally when he has grolly to dig out he pokes himself in the eye.
