PRE-SEASON: Schalke 04 vs Southampton - (18:00 KO)
Bad Wolf replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Meh, not a bad performance I guess. -
He'd be a very decent signing but nowhere near worth the hype that some people on this thread are giving it.
-
Just reading the Celtic forum. What a bunch of morons...Haven't got a clue...
-
Shame about Chaplow. Did was was needed but we've outgrown him now. Shocked about Forren...Thought he was signed for the season coming.

Man City at home

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/201213-released-list-854898.aspx Always sad to tell a player he's no longer needed at the club. Hope they get new clubs soon.

As a Christian, I do think that no Church should be forced to allow it however at the same time I think no Church should be banned from offering it. It should be up to the elders (or whoever you havein charge at your church) to talk about it and decide. However in terms of giving homosexuals the right to be married in registry offices etc then it would surely be discrimination to not let them? If someone is a non believer in God, I don't think it's fair that they're discriminated against.

A decent FL player and a loyal servant who always put in 100% but as much as it saddens me to say it, his time has passed, we've outgrown him.

When did we sign Paul Lambert's son? (Far right)
-
Clyne at LB, Richardson at RB. That was what we changed to at half time, being 1-0 down to Aston Villa at home, having lost our previous four and it ended up with a 4-1 win (including a goal for Clyne).

He told a story of either him or a manager he was coaching for at the time, trying to get the players to do this and they were told that players don't do "jobs" anymore. Just mentioned him along with the other names I said as great, hard working lads with the right attitude.

Have just got back from Sholing Baptist Church where I got the pleasure of listening to Dave Merrington talk about both his career in Football and his Christian Faith. I just wanted to come on here and sum up what he said about his football life etc but before that I would just like to say, he is one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. Had time for everyone, spoke to you rather than spoke down to you. A lovely, lovely guy. Basically - - Born and raised a Newcastle fan. - Had the choice between Newcastle, Birmingham, Burnley and Sunderland and the only reason he choose Newcastle was because his head master at school was an avid fan and he told him to. - Was going to turn down Saints due to not wanting to move his family but his wife convinced him to. - Fell in love with the City and the club as soon as he moved here. - Feels strongly that Football would benefit from giving young players jobs while they learn their trade (collecting the cones, polishing boots etc) but admits it won't happen. - Loves the club to this day and considers himself a 'Southerner' - Is glad goal line tech is coming in, would often debate the idea with Alan Ball who said it wasn't a good idea. - Couldn't speak highly enough of Kenna, Dodd, Franny, Le Tiss, Lawrie Mac and Ted Bates. - Felt his dismissal from Saints was very unfair and he wasn't given the actual reasons as to why they were letting him go. - Very exciting time to be a Saints fan. - Loves the passion they've shown in the last few home games. - The injury that ended his playing career would have been easily treated today. - Loves doing the commentary on Solent. Anyway, sorry if that's a bunch of useless information/stuff that people knew already but thought I'd run through the bulk of it. Very, very enjoyable evening.

Is one of them River?

Sorry all, a friend has just informed me that they wern't at their new stadium then and it was their first loss over all. Sorry for the blunder!
-
We were 1-0 down at Brighton who had yet to lose at their new home. And around this exact time Connolly made it 1-1, Fonte would have scored around 10 minutes time I think...What a difference two years has made.
-
I can't believe people on here actually think that goal should have stood. If Swansea had scored it and it been allowed, everyone would be going mental.

Looks like something from when of the very very distant future episodes of Doctor Who.

2-0 Wigan. Dunno if that's good or bad for us.

I was more than 20 years off being born!

Premiership Nigel Adkins & Staff Preplanned
Bad Wolf replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
You could be on to something there but it's probably best left in the past. Nigel will always be a Saints legend, really top bloke but we have to move on now. I saw somebody on here liken it to splitting up with a long term partner and at that point, I had already made that comparison to myself. There was a bit of denial at first then anger etc and we pretty much did follow all the steps you do when you break up with someone. There will always be times where we'll think "For goodness sake, I wish Nigel was still here. We'd have defended that corner better!" just like we tend to think "So and so would have loved it here, I wish we hadn't have broken up". But the fact is it's over now and I think the majority of us have accepted that and we now have somebody new, just as you would after you break up with someone. Nigel won't like it too much no doubt but he'll find a club that he fits with. Circle of life, folks! As for the staff being PL quality, I guess we don't know. We don't really know how much or how little of an involvement they had. Maybe we'll find out one day if Nige recruits them to his new club, who knows. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the fact is we're in the here and the now as Nigel would say! -
Pubs in the 'Locks Heath/Swanwick area' showing the game?

Thank you very much! Much appreciated! Are you watching it there? -

Ahhh had heard the Navigator was expensive. I used to work there when it was it's old name that I won't even attempt to spell. Have to be in Park Gate for 7ish so probably won't get to see all of it anyway however Warsash would probably be not worth it on my part, as I have to walk back to Park Gate from wherever I find to watch it. Lock Stock and Barrell is a good shout though, that'd only be a 15 minute walk back. Thanks for that, mate! -
Anywhere in that general area, Park Gate, maybe? Anyone know of any?
