  1. 'm not so sure. It's hard to see anyone willing to step in and pay up right now because a) there is such a mess trying sort out who actually owns what within the club and what the real finances are, not to mention the various dubious goings on that no half clean business would want to get involved in and b)the club will be so much cheaper after they enter admin. So then, it seems their saviour would be likely to arrive after admin. The problem then is that a nine point deduction would virtually seal their fate and relegate them. The financial fall out then would be massive. Don't forget that they can only sign loan players or freebies. To get this permission they had to show previous debts had been paid, I don't think the EPL had any juridisdiction to check the club could pay any future wages and I see no guarantee that they can!
  2. Yes you are being silly because nobody said football managers were perfect. They make mistakes like anyone else but the reason they are employed is because they make fewer mistakes than the layman. You really think that Pards has worse judgment of players than you? Why not apply for the Saints job then? As for our departee, I wish him all the best. Played few games but always gave 100%.
  3. I agree everyone should just get over it and the best way to do this is to start a new thread entitled 'Roy Keane's gesture".
  4. Anyone recall a certain incident with Mr Keane on the day we were relegated from the Prem? Did we ever really thank him for that? Knocking Ipswich out of the cup could be a good start!
  5. That's probably Allie, the young woman who ran the Chinese Saints site for a while.
  6. Pompey's Jedi mind trick number 2058: " We are not the men who owe you money. We have settled with you already." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8472428.stm
  7. I think the old git has a point, and if he really was a miserable old git, he probably wouldn't use that nickname! Your initial post was actually very negative despite what you say now, but you're not the only one who behaves like this. This forum does represent a good portion of Saints fans and I think it's worth bearing in mind that anyone can read it, and it's distinctly possible that some representatives of the club do so. A s I pointed out in the thread confirming Antonio's loan was extended, how should we expect him to feel if he read some of the abuse on that thread? Likewise, how would we expect ML, Cortese or the player involved to feel if they some reactions similar to yours? I realise everyone has a right to an opinion but I think some are inconsidered.I find it sad that we can be so negative so quickly. That's not being a drama queen, that's just an opinion.
  8. This is how I feel. Pardew has proven to be very shrewd and our coaching team seem to get the best out of players. I think our new boy may get the last laugh at the Norwich fans. To be fair, they feel for Gunn the same way we feel for Matty. That surely clouded tehir judgement of him (Gunn) in the beginning.
  9. I wouldn't read too much into that comment. I think it was designed to show that Lloyd James is not out of favour, rather than indicating a stop to transfer activity.\ I am slightly concerned about the overwhelming number of comments from Norwich fans about our new player but as I said before, we have no reason to distrust Pardew in the transfer market.
  10. +1. Thanks for saving me the time.
  11. Be fair mate, he's probably trying hard to sign a player that can make a big difference to our promotion campaign and if anything appears on here (for all the world to see) that could endanger the deal, what is he supposed to do? Rumours on this page these days often get very speculative with talk of personal issues, family life, salary and so on. It's not hard to imagine that such public talk about personal lives could create problems on occasion. In any case, as far as we know the club may have asked the mods to remove some threads for a while and they said "Yes certainly". Where's the problem? As for The Echo - well most fans on here seem to think they had it coming. The Benali story we only have peripheral knowledge of. Cortese has done a great job at the club so far, let's not start running him down based on rumour and assumptions.
  12. Also whoever registered on the Donny Rovers forum and plastered: "We are signing Stock and we are signing all these other players what do you think about us?" etc. you made yourself look a prat and did the club no favours.
  13. Yes it was a good point. Perhaps part of it is just relief after so many years of financial worries but it's no execuse for arrogant behaviour. Let's keep up the good reputation of Saints fans.
  14. Yep, he came here, did his best, stayed with us in difficult times and has now moved on to a new challenge. Let's really rip in to him.
  15. Yeh I did mean right back. I've just read the place thread. I have nothing against them, I hope they do well and would hate to see them go under, but part of me feels good at reading about us at the 'haves' instead of the 'have nots' for once! Which club do they refer to as the 'clowns'. Brighton?
  16. Cracking news. Now a LB and a back up striker please Alan and I promise I won't grumble for at least a week!
  17. This is what I want to know. Surely the EPL have to step in at some point with these constant screw ups? We've been saying all along the EPL don't want the bad PR of Pompey going into admin, but if things keep going on like this, it's making a mockery of an EPL club anyway. It seems we have a pressure cooker just waiting to blow.
  18. As I've said before, I do wish fans would bear in mind that perhaps some players - especially young guys like Antonio - do read these forums. Think how they must feel after reading the abuse we give some of our own youngsters. No I'm not saying people shouldn't say how they feel, but just keep things sensible.
  19. After the Bristol Rovers cup game away we all thought he was great. He - as a late developing footballer of nineteen years of age - has a few bad games and he gets all kinds of stick on here just after he's signed for us (it is a signing really, since his contract with his club expires at the end of the season). I think that's a shame. I turst Pardew's judgement and I welcome Antonio. If he can develop more of an all round game to match his pace, he will be very effective.
  20. You have to love the way Pompey's PR soldiers try to respond to every new twist and turn with a jeidi mind trick! "We've not had a winding up notice" "We're expecting new investment very soon" "The players will be paid today" "The new onwer has funds" etc. , etc.
  21. I have heard that some people don't go to football matches at all.
  22. This is a game we would have lost under most of our previous managers of the last few years. Some people are criticising Saints but let's give some credit to Luton, remember they are only where they are because the FL decided to relegate them with a ridiculous points penalty. Face it guys, we are in L1 with a squad dismantled and reassembled with virtually zero preparation time, and we are winning games. Be happy!
  23. How come you two feel the constant need to remind everyone else that you are expats every other post? We get it! Could you two get over it?
  24. This is the third time they've failed to pay player' salries on time. How much longer are the EPL going to let them get away with all this? Surely soon their will be some kind of points penalty, so we can have the fun of a PFC statement first denying the penalty happened at all, then saying it DID happen but wages would be paid "very soon", then saying the points penalty is illegal, etc.....
