At least the rest of this season, even if he ends up taking us down. Considering his record at Reading and West Ham, I believe there is nobody better than Pardew who we are likely to attract while in League One. I have absolute belief that we will stay up under Alan Pardew, and considering the situation we were in not long ago, that for this year is entirely enough for me.

I'm quite annoyed about this. My Seahawks traded for your first round pick in the draft, and we thought you'd be absolute rubbish, a top 5 pick. As it is, you're looking a very competent side, and we're perhaps 9-7 at the absolute best but fully expecting SF to win the NFC West. I'm expecting us to get trounced at Indy next week. This is not what I signed up for!

According to Wikipedia, over the last two years he's played about 60 games for Larissa in the Greek top division. They finished 6th and then 5th in the league, qualifying for the Europa League this year. Meanwhile, we finished 20th and 23rd in the English second division and are at our lowest level in 49 years. I reckon the joke is squarely on our shoulders here. In conclusion, I blame Burley, or maybe Lowe or Redknapp or one of the usual suspects. Typical bloody Saints, etc.

Saints given a 3rd allocation of tickets for swindon
Chris Larkin replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
My mate who has a season ticket at Swindon parks in the car park of the big 24 hour Tesco store right behind the County Ground. You can walk through a passageway next to the store to get to the stadium. It's free, and unlike at Coventry's stadium Tesco don't seem to care about football fans using their car park. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=tesco&sll=51.567554,-1.770365&sspn=0.003435,0.011362&ie=UTF8&radius=0.24&rq=1&ev=zi&ll=51.568134,-1.770365&spn=0.003434,0.011362&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A I can also recommend a fish and chip shop near the County Ground, the Frying Fish. Just across the Magic Roundabout from the stadium, opposite the fire station. They do a Football Special, a massive portion of sausage and chips for a very reasonable price (it was about £2.60 when I went two years back). Well worth a go if you're a fan of greasy foodstuff. -
The 13 Premier League teams not in Europe, Newcastle and Middlesborough (who recieved a First Round bye) and the 10 remaining Championship sides with the highest final League position from last year were seeded. The other 25 teams were not. Before the televised draw, all the unseeded teams were assigned whether they would be at home or away, and placed in some arbitrary order. Then, the 25 seeded sides were drawn out on SSN one after the other. The first seeded side to be drawn will play the first unseeded side in the ordering, the second plays the second, etc. Hopefully that explains it. I'm not sure why they've gone at it like this though, I seem to remember that previous years have had a seeded and geographically split First Round, but then a free draw for all the rounds after.

Nailed it!

Ought to have been 4-0 there. What on earth were Scotland thinking, giving us £2million in compensation for Burley? We should've had to pay them.

Keegan?

Jammy bugger! How much did you end up putting on it?

Probably a mix of heroin and cocaine together for me, it's good to get a balance in life.

Good point, I didn't think of that. Are tribunal fees meant to reflect the market price of the players, or are they just a fee to cover the costs of training the player? I always thought it was the former, but some on here told me last year that actually it was sopposed to be costs only. Still, it's Chelsea we're talking about, so it's not like money is an issue.
-
Even if he hardly plays, they can sell him on in a year and make money. See what they did with Tal Ben Haim and Steve Sidwell - they took them on frees, got a year of improved squad depth out of them, then sold them for around £5m each, covering more than the money they would have spent on the contracts through that year. It's good business if you can afford to pay the enormous wages in the first place.

Kelvin Davis acting goalkeeping coach; Jackson ready to bid
Chris Larkin replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
Why on earth would somebody with the ~£15m required to buy Saints hire a muppet like Jackson to front their bid? -
She clearly won't have $2million to pay the fine anyway, so I don't really see what they hope to achieve here. It might scare a few people off but not enough to have any effect.

It's what they do to all clubs that are put into administration. The Football League won't give the club their 'Golden Share' (allowing you to play in the league) unless the club waives their right to appeal. I can't see how this will end any better for us than any of the other clubs who the League have done this too, unless Pinnacle have something very clever up their sleeves they might as well just accept the 10 point penalty now and be done with it.

Actually it's the 17th June, at 10am. Sorry, I'm a tool.

The Football League fixtures are released on the 17th July. HTH.

£1m for DMG - Why do people think it's such a bad deal?
Chris Larkin replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Thought this was an interesting point, so I looked it up. Figures are from Wikipedia, and so are perhaps not exact: 29 Goals - Rickie Lambert, £200,000 [Rochdale -> Bristol Rovers, August 2006] 29 Goals - Simon Cox, ~£200,000 [Reading -> Swindon Town, January 2008] 27 Goals - Matty Fryatt, ~£350,000 [Walsall -> Leicester City, January 2006] 27 Goals - Jermaine Beckford, £45,000 [Wealdstone -> Leeds United, March 2006] 24 Goals - Gary Hooper, £175,000 [southend United -> S****horpe United, July 2008] 23 Goals - Craig Mackail-Smith, £125,000 [Dagenham & Redbridge -> Peterborough United, January 2007] In answer to your question then, apparently none of them. -
Excellent news! I'm all excited about the football again now. Annoyingly I'll be at Glade Festival in Winchester that weekend, but at least it's looking good for the future if they feel confident enough to announce a prestige fixture like this now.

Design a Saints rebrand - Fan competition
Chris Larkin replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
I read on here that the tree is supposed to represent some trees that stood on the site of The Dell, which were cut down when it was built. Not sure whether there's any truth in that, mind. -
Luton have released Sam Parkin, Dean Morgan, Paul McVeigh, Sol Davis and Dean Brill. CDAJFU? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/luton_town/8071519.stm
