Its not what I heard Hasenhuttl say in the bit of the press conference I heard (I didn't hear it all) but don't understand why Blackmore tweeted what he did. Anyway its been cleared up now, so its all a moot point. Bit concerning that Stu is taking so long to recover from whatever it is that is wrong (no one has really ever said), missing arguably our best player (certainly our most creative) should be a concern.

Adam Blackmore tweeted that Theo and Stu are both training, but Tom Leach says Theo but not Stu. Who to believe.
-
Although Ralph suggested it was not all bad, his knee isn't damaged at all. Could have been worse, but still serious long term injury. Some confusion on Stu, Tom Leach saying he is not training, others saying he is.

Kammy raving about the cross from Valery 🤔

Although the first language of the defence tonight is actually French.

The good news is that we finished above P***** in that single post-war Football League South season. Strange the competition that season is glossed over in the Skates Wiki page.

Quite, looked a very good natured chat between England team mates to me. Walker was probably just doing a bit of tapping up on behalf of Pep.

So why did Man U scouts not identify him as a target before the transfer to Saints? Do the people who put out this rubbish really expect us to believe such crap. It would say a lot for their scouting system if they didn't notice him before, its not like he was hidden away so no one could see him.

In the final group game against France a Fren h player raked his studs down Jimmy's shin. It required 14 stitches. It has always been said that Greaves was fit for the Final, but you have to wonder whether he would have been fully fit 10 days after suffering such an injury. These days a player would be out for weeks with a similar injury, and that is not taking into account the type of studs used in 66. I guess he could probably have played but Ramsey would have been follhardy to commit him for a potential 120 minutes. Very sad for Jimmy, but you have to say it worked out quite well for Sir Alf and England. Great player, probably my first real football hero when I was a little nipper before I discovered Saints and Mick Channon.

Just to be clear we did not finish bottom of PL2 last season, we were bottom of PL2 Division 1. This year we are bottom of PL2 Division 2, it would be harsh to throw us out of PL2 for being the worst team for the first time, notwithstanding that we are in PL2 because of our Academy Status, not because of any playing ability or performances. I would hazard a guess that Horseman's tenure may be nearing its end.

Think it was probably reasonable to rescind the red card. But not the pen. Red card is discretionary these days if I understand correctly.

I think their MoM is based on viewer voting, not on any "expert" opinion, although having Broja MoM does sound more like something concocted between Lawro and Garth Crooks.

Jonny-come-lately. You'll get the hang of it eventually sonny 😉

Random Ex- Academy Player Transfer News no-one will care about...
VectisSaint replied to The9's topic in The Saints
I must have missed the bit where Juanmi was in the Academy. -
Except there is no relegation.

There is a good argument for playing Forster in this game. We know he's leaving at the end of the season so put him in between the sticks and won't do our long term player's confidence any harm. 😁

Agree, personally think that having Grealish in their team would be a bonus for us, instead of all their gifted players. Also he's easy to wind up (JWP/Stephens please note). Sadly I would imagine KDB will be back in the team by then.

Apparently being lined up for 1st team squad appearance (according to Tom Leach) 😳
-
Apparently the B Team were "down to the bare bones" before last night's game in the Checkatrade Trophy according to Tom Leach (I thought it was the Papa John's Trophy these days). Oludare Olufunwa, Caleb Watts, Will Tizzard and Ryan Finnigan all missing (is that down to the bare bones?). He did mention that Watts might be fit to play (and did). Also noted separately that Thierry Small is coming back from injury (didn't know he was injured).
-
Seems a bit disingenuous. He was injured and you expect him to walk into a team that won 5-1 away.

I read this yesterday that it was a rule, but I'm sure it never used to be. There have been instances in the past not just at Saints where pros have not been registered, I think Sam McQueen was omitted recently for example. My only thought is that perhaps you can do it if you have more than 25 senior pros, and then have to make a choice who is registered. Still it does no harm and I suppose in a dire emergency dear old Ollie could make a return 😂

In what world is missing Stu good news?

Saints on itv4 big match revisited now at the Dell
VectisSaint replied to East Kent Saint's topic in The Saints
Corrected for you 😉 -
No, Southampton won it 8 times, twice runners-up, but Arsenal have sin e won 14 times. The historical link between the current Southampton Women and the original team in the 1970s (which at some time used to be called RS Southampton I think, Red Star) is tenuous, Southampton Ladies have a probably better claim to that history. Lowe closed down the Ladies team and although it survived it went into serious decline with no funding.

Same here, they should have already been in the top level, they parachuted Man U straight in 3/4 years ago but put Saints at 5th level, then Covid hindered progress. Spacey has been gradually building a squad for the higher levels with some experienced players coming in. They should be in the Championship next year.
