This proposal would still leave a situation where a team could have 11 foreign players on the field. 4 out of a matchday squad of 16 is a total joke if you really want to change anything. Mawhinney is having to fudge the issue to get it passed, by setting the limit as low as this there are not many clubs who would object. And Lowe's preposterous (sp?) idea that we will benefit is just more evidence that the man is a total fool.

Would have been crass to moan after Saturday, but we continue to struggle hopelessly in terms of results at home, and consequently our crowds remain low. We seem to have no idea how to break teams down at home, to be fair to JP, Burley was as hopeless when it came to this, but thats not good enough. On top of that 3 points tonite would have been so useful with almost everyone else drawing. Lets hope we can get a win at The Valley on Saturday

Hopefully JP has learned what he needs to do now. I think I will avoid listening to the radio, we seem to do better when I pretend nothing is happening. I'm not a stay-away in terms of boycotting, but I would personally be as angry about getting rid of Rudi and Euell as I would the youngsters. One of the reasons I see for a slight improvement in the last couple of weeks is the dawning realisation that some experience is necessary, not just KD, but also playing Perry, Rudi and (when not suspended) Euell. I don't care too much about the others (Rasiak and John) who are currently not costing us much/anything (in fact have probably earned us some loan fees), Rasiak for one does not appear to fit into our system. Dyer is gone as far as I am concerned, and to be honest no great loss. I think it is also clear that Spiderman is the key, if we can keep him, and keep him playing, then we could be OK. It will be interesting to see Gasmi when he finally makes the breakthrough.

Actually Lowe and Wilde should have been there sucking up to John Madejski to try to get Alex Pearce's loan extended to the end of the season. Much more important than duck shooting. Suspect Wilde will advise his whereabouts on Saturday just as soon as he has cleared it with Lowe.

Strictly speaking this is not true. Lowe returned on 15th May (I think), therefore was in charge for 6 weeks of the financial year (11.5%). During this time he was responsible for the purchase of Morgan Schneiderlin (as admitted in the accounts), as well as the contract termination of NP (though this would not have had any financial impact as NP was on a rolling monthly contract). Did Perry sign before 30th June? It could be argued therefore that approx £1m of the loss (Schneiderlin) is attributable to Lowe. Convenient though to lose this in the Blame Crouch for everything reports. Conversely many could argue that MS may turn out to be very good business when we sell him on to the The Arse in January for about 2m (plus some stage payments) and thus remove our only midfield creativity.

It will probably make a difference to the dire situation we are in, but possibly not in the way you meant. KD has been instrumental so far in at least keeping us above the dotted line in the league table, and we are almost always ineffective when MS is unavailable. I can't believe that you think financially the sale of these 2 would bring in 6-7 million pounds. 2-3 would be optimistic.

No the argument is perfectly accurate. Burley was a bad manager for us. he was made to look good for one season by the appointment of a top class and much underrated assistant manager in Glyn Snodin, whose arrival coincided with a vast improvement in the team, and whose departure coincided with the downward spiral that resulted eventually in the near-relegation experience. It amazes me with the figures today, that the blame is heaped on the "previous board" and yet no mention of the fact that the previous board was appointed by the current Football Club Chairman. It is patently true that Dulieu and his team pushed for promotion at the expense of financial prudence and came a cropper in a big way. It is also patently true, as can be seen from the accounts, that without the efforts of Leon Crouch and Lee Hoos in the first half of 2008, that the position would be far worse than it was (due to the loan fees for Rasiak and Skacel, and the putting in place of the plans to close the stadium corners and realign the transport agreements). How can Lowe continue to work with Wilde when he was the architect of this sorry mess? (other than the obvious answer that without his support Lowe would not be in power). It is quite clear that if we have to have Lowe at this Club, the obvious power sharing should be with Crouch, not Wilde. Sadly we lost the services of Lee Hoos, who has been shown to be one of the few directors with any particular skill, either financially or football wise. I dislike Lowe intensely, and wish he was not associated with the Club, but the real villain in the piece is MW.

Theo is quoted as saying "It's mainly that FA Youth Cup team from 2005..." Sorry Theo but it bears almost no resemblance to that team. Only McGoldrick from the team that started in the 2nd leg is regular this season. Lallana was on the bench, and James started. All of the other 13 players involved that night are as far as I know no longer at the Club, admittedly Dyer is still our player but is on loan at Sheff Utd. I like Theo, but this is blatant propaganda on the OS, with no basis in reality. I honestly wonder whether Theo has actually seen us play this season.

I know there is always disagreement because of the age of subscribers, but for those of us a little longer in the tooth, Dave Peach has to be the greatest LB for Saints. Can you forget the pen against Palace that got us to Wembley? Highest scoring full back in League history (at the time) 34 goals in 224 apps. Played in 2 cup finals for Saints (how many others can claim that? Nick Holmes is the answer by the way). Scored the opener in the League Cup Final against Forest. On top of all of that, was one of the best blokes I ever met at Saints. At the time was more of a cult hero than even Franny became. I know we don't need 2 expert pen takers in a team, and assume Tiss will make the greatest ever XI, but it is actually debatable which one was the best at this skill. Oh what we would give for either of them to take pens for us now.

The announcement on 27 may was to say that we are no longer in an Offer Period. As this state was finished there was no longer a statutory requirement to report to the SE, thus no announcements. Nothing more or less should be read into this.

Not heard this, but I don't think its up to West Ham whether they lose points or not, that would be a decision for the Premier League. We all know anyway that the PL sucks up to West Ham (is it coincidence tha Mr Brooking is west Ham through and through), just ask Sheff Utd. I believe that the rules for administration are different in the Premier League (FA) than the Football League anyway, so there would not be a precedent.

We could support the nice Mr Poortvliet for ever, we would still not succeed. Obviously we cannot go back to NP, Lowe would never admit to making a mistake, but thinking that JP will lead us to success is seriously misguided in my opinion.

Of course dismissing his (admittedly short) spells as caretaker manager of Newcastle, West Brom and England u21, and his experience as 1st team coach for Stoke, West Brom, Newcastle, and the time spent with the England FA set up working with all the age groups up to and including u21. 7 or 8 years working with some top people (and Bryan Robson) in this country, serving an apprenticeship in the English League, gaining valuable contacts in the English game, and now proving again a success as a manager in his own right. Now, remind me of the experience of the Englisgh game, or for that matter the Dutch professional game of Jan Poortvliet?

Actually we had a decent RB for a while in Chris Baird, but due to problems at CB he had to fill in there (and did a bloody good job considering his lack of height).

This has been my point all along with this boycott. It isn't visible and therefore has little real impact. It is impossible to know how big or small a boycott is. The boycott is pointless without other action being taken. It is all very well the boycotters saying it is hurting Lowe in the pocket, but how can that be demonstrated when Lowe realises that there are other factors that are causing fans to leave in droves. The boycott may be large or small, I have no way of knowing, and for the same reason nor does Lowe. The biggest reason for stay aways at the moment is almost certainly the results, continuous home defeats. I support the people who are boycotting, but I cannot support the boycott itself because it is completely ineffective. I cannot personally boycott because I am not a regular attender anyway, so me boycotting would be even more silly. I went to Watford and quite frankly watched the biggest load of rubbish for 90 minutes (yes, unlike most I stayed to the end). That game made me realise that it is not worth all of the effort to go until things change, but I suspect I will make a couple more visits before Christmas because Saints are in my blood and I need the fix every so often. I do suspect the Club are beginning to realise there is a problem, witness the bigging up of the performance on Saturday on the OS. This is a sign of desparation, getting our opponents to say how good we are, after they have beaten us. At the end of the day, we lost, it doesn't matter how you package it, we scored less goals than the other team therefore we got 0 points. 6 points out of 27 at home = relegation and supporters staying away.

Law 12. "A player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences: 1 is guilty of serious foul play 2 is guilty of violent conduct etc etc " Decision 4 adds "A tackle that endangers the safety of an opponent must be sanctioned as serious foul play". Clearly if the ref decided that the tackle was dangerous he had no option but to send Euell off. There is a separate argument about whether it was dangerous or not, and maybe the ref got that wrong, but he has no choice or discretion about the sanction.

Believe it guys, we are in for a relegation struggle. If people continue to believe, like Jan, that things will be alright, we will find ourselves in Division 3 before anyone has realised. It can still be fixed, but Lowe has to realise that he has to forego his principles and realise that his experiment will not work while we have a coach in charge who thogh he may technically have some good ideas, is floundering in the English league.
