  1. According to the newspaper article Saints are quoted as saying the loan agreement was terminated after he last played for us on 13th December. If that is true, then he would not have been travelling down the M1 in connection with Saints. You might take into account that he had probably been visiting his family for Christmas Day, after all he was not training with us as he had finished with us 12 days earlier. Seems very odd to me that despite his agreement having terminated the OS still reported him as being in the squad for Plymouth until the news of the accident broke. All a little bit fishy. Unfotunately tragedies like this happen when inexperienced drivers get behind the wheel of cars they should not be driving at their age. Because of the money footballers get paid these days they can afford the incredible insurance that normal joe soaps would not be able to afford. We've all done things like this over the years, but with experience most of us can exercise such manouevres in relative safety thanfully. Condolences to the family of Mr Mohamed.
  2. It is because he is here as cover for Killer. It just about says as much on the OS. Hence it has been extended until Killer's likely (or unlikely) return to "fitness". So stop speculating as to the reason and tearing metaphorical lumps out of each other.
  3. 4. Its not totally academic. It means the club is "valued" 10% less today than it was yesterday. Thats quite significant.
  5. With Bristol being bigger than Manchester, I think it can cope with having the Gasheads as well.
  6. It was an arranged marriage...
  7. Ok, so I got it wrong. Must be more plastics out there than I thought :yawinkle: Still doesn't alter the fact that we won't make a shed load of cash out of the game, unless we can get a draw. I guess the 2/6d from Setanta will come in handy.
  8. Delgado? OK, maybe not. Pity really, he should have been a success.
  9. In order to choose ends don't we have to win the toss? Maybe our captain is not much of a tosser. Perhaps we should let one of our Chairmen do that part, either of them, both of them are tossers of the highest order.
  10. BC fell a lot further than we have done so far since their days in the top flight, they have also recovered from a worse financial situation than we have so far faced. BC may not be a huge club, but Bristol is a much bigger city than Southampton (twice the size, th biggest city in England) and potentially could support a top flight football club, its just that it tends to be more of a rugby city. Good news about Pearce. I think the OS hints at why it is only another month, he is here as cover for Killer. Suggests the Club expect Killer to be fit by end January at current rate. Think Pearce is the only other potentially successful loan other than Cork. Even Pearce has not been an unqualified success, but does have the potential to be good at this level, and is a threat in their area. BBC explains what happened with John, there was an informal agreement to extend the loan if it worked out, and clearly that is what has happened. Think we have treated last season's top scorer rather shabbily, but nothing surprises me with Lowe in charge.
  11. Why do people persist with silly remarks like this. What you are saying is that JP is the best option out there who will work with Lowe. Why? There are plenty of others who would work with Lowe in the same circumstances, but who are better coaches than JP, who has no experience in a proper professional League. Others could bring not only an improvement with what we have, but also help Lowe bring in some free transfers and loans who could actually help the situation because they understand the English game. So far the only really successful loan we have is Cork, I might be persuaded on Pearce as well, otherwise, waste of time, the lot of them. Thats why JP and MW are of no use. There is fundamentally nothing wrong with the majority of our team, but they are not suited to playing the JP way, and the JP way is not suited to the CCC.
  12. FFS, we all know yesterday was a good performance, and is to be applauded, well done to the lads. But don't let it paper over the cracks. It was still 2 points dropped at home, and continues the trend that we have only won ONE HOME GAME all season. That is an appalling record by anyone's standards. We are now 23rd in the League. So come on, take off the rose tinted specs and see yesterday for what it was, a bright spark, but in the overall scheme of things yet another indication that we will be relegated under JP. To accuse Alpine of being inconsistent is one of the stupidest remarks. We may not always agree with Alpine, but actually he is usually right, and one thing he is always is consistent in his comments. He does not change his mind based on an odd result, but like most sensible people looks at the overall trend and makes judgements thereon.
  13. At the current time, I am really less interested in getting rid of Lowe (and Wilde) than getting rid of JP. Getting shot of Lowe and Wilde must be an aim, we will never prosper or improve while they have the reigns. BUT, unless JP is replaced pronto, we will not even be in this division next season, and then the problems get even worse, or maybe even terminal. It is clear that anyone with an ounce of sense could do what Lowe is doing cost-saving wise, indeed most of what is being done was actually put in place by Lee Hoos and Crouch. Lowe has brought nothing to the table in terms of far-sighted ideas of turning the plc around, he has just implemented what anyone else would have done. He is no financial genius (indeed many would argue very strongly that he is financially incompetent). The one BIG mistake he has made is employ a third-rate foreign coach who has no idea how to manage an English 2nd division team, and no idea how to motivate young players. Get that sorted and at least we have a chance of survival, then we can think about the longer term. I imagine thats why Leon did not put forward an alternate proposal, the only alternative at the moment is a new manager.
  14. Worked well against Forest didn't it? The confidence oozed, and the team played like a dream. The youth may actually play better with an empty stadium, it will remind them of Staplewood where their football is magical and entertaining. Numpty.
  15. Saiints 0 Reading 3 at half-time. Second half, Saints go all out attack and play some pretty, exciting football. Full-time Saints 0 Reading 3. JP praises the spirit and the exciting football in the second half. I think 3-0 would be a result for us, I fear more.
  16. This is not such a stupid idea, maybe it is something that could be done. I won't be watching but a bit of publicity for getting Lowe out cannot do any harm can it?
  17. Great thinking. Lets just roll over, give up and die. What a bloody pathetic post. I guarantee that even with Lowe around, there are dozens of managers who would still fancy a crack at the Saints job, and I see you've also been taken in by the JP is cheap bull****. He may have been marginally cheaper than NP, but don't forget we've added a new coach since then as well. JP may be cheap but he isn't doing it for love. I guess also you din't go to the Watford game, otherwise you will know we had at least 3 bad games, that one was the last I went to, I cannot stomach any more such utter pathetic rubbish touted as exciting football played in the Dutch style. Bunch of reasonaly talented footballers with no idea what they are supposed to be doing, or how to create a chance, even missing 2 penalties. FFS how bad do you think it has to get?
  18. Quite right, and the only way is to replace JP NOW. Even that doesn't come with a guarantee, but I'll guarantee one thing, stcik with JP and Division 3 will be here sooner than you can say Rupert Lowe.
  19. Boycotting is not the answer, as I have said elsewhere. It is not a tangible protest, that is why any boycott that there has been so far is ineffective. Take my own case. If I don't turn up am I boycotting. No of course not, I was never a "every home game" supporter (except for a few years in the 70s). How can I support a boycott? Boycotts are only effective if the boycotters actually turn up somewhere (preferably outside the main entrance) and demonstrate their anger, in a non-violent way. In this case, if a protest is orgnaised, I can be there showing my support for the stay-away protest. If 15k turn up at SMS on match day and protest peacefully and clearly outside the ground, then notice will be taken, and it will be effective because everyone will see the numbers, and the numbers can be directly translated into £££s so that even Lowe will undertstand.
  20. Just shows how good NP was. We were actually in a better position when he took over though than we are now or will be on 18 Feb. While I want Wilde and Lowe out as much as anyone, it is still better to get someone else in than JP even if the 2 goons don't leave as well. If JP was the best we could do with our limited finances then I would agree with you, but he clearly isn't. All I need is someone that will give us a fair chance of achieveing 21st place or better after we have completed 46 games. That is the only requirement. The prospect of my team playing in Division 3 next season for the first time in my memory (not quite my living memory but I really don't have any memories of Saints when I was 3) is sickening, and something I find it hard to stomach. I am also gettig old enough to realise that I may not be around long enough to see us back in the top flight, and that is somewhat frightening.
  21. They beat our first team yesterday after all...
  22. Tisdale will feel sorry for his old team...
  23. Did you ask Paul Tisdale instead? He may not have sniggered quite as much as he may still see it as a step up and being an ex-Saint might actually feel like helping out (though God knows why he would want to jack in his success at St James Park to work for the Dark Lord). Did you know Tisdale currently holds the record for the longest sequence of league games without 2 successive losses, something like 94 games in total, corresponding to when he took over at Exeter. I couldn't see our name in the Top 5, odd that.
  24. D. Means that any action taken by Lowe as result of Boycott will be too late for any newly appointed manager to have any dealings in the transfer window. Action needs to be taken far sooner than February to have any chance of being effective. If nothing has changed by early February, we are doomed. doomed I tell ye
