Assume you have never tried selling a property and completing in a week. The chance of selling any property and completing the deal in a week is just so unlikely as to be untrue, even in good times, at the moment, you're having a laugh...

Lallana possibly going for £5m, which is nice.
VectisSaint replied to buctootim's topic in The Saints
I suspect Lallana could be good one day, but he needs some serious coaching by someone experienced working with youngsters. I can see the logic of Fulham or Spuds taking him more for the long term, especially with new rules about home-grown players being discussed. I suspect a loan to Leicester next season would see Lallana develop in the Championship into a useful Prem player in the future -
Maths looks fine in Southampton, in order to beat 321 you need 322 (or at least 321 and a dog). Maths in Pompey not too good.

Assuming Davis moves on (and who would blame him) then the GKs would presumably be Forecast and Poke. I thought Michael was back with us but see he came on as a sub for Torquay (when Scott Bevan was injured) against Barrow in midweek and played the full match for the Gulls against Burton on Sunday. Hopefully he has 3 more games this season. Of the rest I would like to see James, Perry and Gillett stay, and possibly Holmes. Not bothered about anyone else I'm afraid though some of the younger players will be useful backup in the squad - McLaggon for instance.

The "Inform Mark Fry: Lowe, Askham return is unacceptable" thread
VectisSaint replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
While technically probably true, this must also preclude Lowe and Wilde being involved in any way, shape or form, since it is clear they not only cannot deliver but actually make it even harder to pay back creditors due to the evidence that their presence actually does impact attendances. He must also be aware that any investigation into financial irregularities must involve Lowe and Wilde (as well as Askham, Crouch, etc etc) and therefore could be a huge risk for any creditors or successof a consortium. I think Mr Fry will be well aware already that Lowe and Wilde are persona non gratis. -
Why, just because they are ex-Saints? JvD especially was a complete knob-head, and we wasted so much money on someone who couldn't give a toss about us. Davenport was one of the main reasons for relegation. Most others listed I would back like a shot, but these two were just ****s and I would not welcome back at any cost. Just another thought, How about Tin Man, HCDAJFU (even Chala might be usefuk at Leagie One level)

Possible exceptions to the above statement: Davenport Jelle van Damme

Quite honestly even unsuccessful people with any sense would be best off not being linked to Lowe
-
Nothing changes then, he was always going down in the box, diving bastard

Love to know why you and others think this. His League One experience consists of 3 games as assistant player/coach with Swindon.

Max Clifford will know who he was

KK is usually successful with plenty of money, still takes a lot of skill, but he has never proved that he can operate succesfully with limited funds. He also clearly has a personailty trait that means he finds it difficult to cope when things get a little bit tough. Not knocking him, but he is not really the answer (and anyway would not be interested).

Strachan was a top player that became a top manager, your argument is rather defeated by this example. In many of the cases where a player does step up, it is the quality of his back-up team that is critical. Hence Shearer has Dowie as support. Hoddle needed Gorman. Although I don't think Le Tiss is the answer, he might work if he had back up of someone like Glyn Snodin. I think Shearer will become a good manager, but given that his stint at Newcastle is likely by his own admission to be short, he will always be looking to go back there when he has a modicum of success, and on that basis I would prefer not to have Shearer as manager.

You even forgot Dave Peach, who was as good at pens as either of the above...

This is exactly why the FL (and FA) rules on clubs going into Administrtaion must be changed. I accept the points penalty, but at the moment there is no sanction against those who actually aused the problem, Lowe, Wilde and in some people's views at least Crouch and others. The FL must ban these people from having anything further to do with football ownership (I would go as far as to say anything to do with football full stop). It is not right that the perpetrators get away with nothing other than a hole in their pocket. If Mawhinney is to have any respect then this must be part of the rules.

Saints 2-2 Burnley Post Match Reaction - Saints Relegated
VectisSaint replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
There were plenty of others on here who also thought it was a good idea, seem to have gone rather quiet lately though. What a complete and utter waste of a season, all brought about by Wilde and Lowe, and their complete lack of understanding of football. Thank God they are gone, lets just hope that it stays that way and they never darken our doors again. Sad thing is that despite the FL punishment, Wilde and Lowe get away with nothing other than a hole in their pocket, while true supporters have to put up with the results. -
Means nothing of the sort, just means we have to beat Forest and hope Norwich don't get 4 points from last 2 games

Club we should have a vendetta against over the points deduction
VectisSaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Blaming other clubs seems rather childish and frankly quite wrong. The time for blame is past, but if you must blame someone the blame sits fairly and squarely with Messers Lowe and Wilde. -
This is the way i see it as well. There is a huge risk in appealing that the punishment will be increased, as CB Fry says, there is nothing to stop the FL expelling us from their organization. We do not have a leg to stand on. We have been shafted by not going into Administration before the deadline. Lowe's arrogance has caused this, believing he was not only right but that he knew better than the FL what would happen. Forget it, accept what has happened and move on.

If the Football Club is sold will the PLC stay in administration?
VectisSaint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Which is I believe Mark Fry's argument. We also have catering events that generate revenue that is not from football (the james Bond preniere etc), and in the past the plc had other evenue streams such as the radio Station and the Insurance company. Just because these have since been sold off, to keep the plc liquid does not mean they should not be taken into account. SLH clearly does have and has had in the past revenue streams other than football itself. Sadly the suits at the League and the so-called forensic accountants failed to see this and so have made the incorrect decision they have made. They will end up with egg on their face, and hopefully Mawhinney will have to eat some humble pie (smug bastartd), but I still expect in the end we will be punished, if only for making the League look like mugs (bringing the game into disrepute). You can have all the legal arguments in the world, but the bottom line is that the FL is a members organisatioin and can in effect do whatever the hell they like with the support of a majority of their members. -
The Mayflower ?

If you are arrogant and believe that you can do no wrong then you don't even consider it chancy. Lowe=arrogant, no concept of him being wrong, so didn't think he needed to worry about it. If Lowe thought his case was cast iron as you suggest, then it would have made no difference, in his mind he could have put SLH into administration knowing (in his mind) that he had a cast iron case and that we would not be deducted points. However you dress it up, it seems clear to most that Lowe and Wilde have been negligent in the extreme. What really gets my back up in all of this is that we the supporters suffer, while Lowe and Wilde go about their merry lives with no sanctions whatsoever. The FA/FL should at least have the decency to ban them from all football related activity for life, assuming that hanging, drawing and quartering is no longer an option.

You have heard of the credit crunch haven't you? Caused because no-one wants to loan anyone any money, especially if the loanee is slightly dodgy. Borrowing money by a plc in admin, or recently in admin does not suggest a good credit rating. But the bottom line is, our debt is not the £27 or £30m that has been bandied around. Indeed our outstanding mortgage debt was being paid off more quickly than was needed, which was a good thing (for us). Aviva would be crazy to suggest repossession, they will make far more money if we continue to pay them back as per our agreement, especially as the interest rate is far above the current base rate. Our debt is the £4+ million from the overdraft (that caused the issue initially) plus any other debts (I understood that we had paid Notts Co and Bournemouth bu the FL had withheld the payments). That is what an investor is looking at as minimum to buy the Club, but of course they also need money to continue to operate, especially through the summer when we have no income.

That's hilarious, sunny and warm in Portsmouth LOL:smt044 Oh, I see that wasn't the joke
