One of the few who came out of last season with any credit. He would be on my (very short) list of 1st team players that should be kept if at all possible: Davis, James, Perry, Saeijs, Gillett. That would be it as far as I'm concerned, all the others should be shipped out as soon as possible (I would be OK with Euell staying on reduced wages)

I was a bit concerned about his comments about watching/monitoring the play-offs to see how the teams played, Burnley v Reading and Sheff Utd v Preston. I would have been more impressed if he had mentioned watching Leeds v Millwall and S****horpe v MK Dons. We will be playing 3 of them next season. Burnley, Reading, Sheff Utd & Preston are history, for at least a year, really don't give a damn if he watched them or not, they are irrelevant.

Really can't think of many that I would be upset to lose in reality. Davis, Gillett, Perry, James & Saeijs are the only ones I would really like to keep, and I'm realistic enough to realise that at least 2 of those are unlikely to stay.

Well said. Lawrie is shocked that only 4000 tickets sold, seems a fairly inocuous remark to me, yet some so-called supporters on here lay into him like he is the anti-Christ or something. When looking for villains at this club, some people here have a remarkably stupid view. There have been some real villains, Wilde, Lowe, Askham, Hone, Dulieu, if people want a hate figure, choose from any of these, to make ridiculuous innuendo about people like Lawrie, is not much different than blaming Channon, Bates or Le Tiss for our troubles in the minds of most right-thinking supporters of this club.

Really, only Donny, Barnsley and Plymouth scored less -

Excellent, seems like a vast improvement on Rupert's vision, at least it includes a football ground -
begbies Traynor are not charging the club, they are charging SLH (the plc), unless of course you are Mawhinney in disguise.

If Rupert was astute, we would not have a 10 point penalty next season.

Thats what having a proper manager/coach can do for a player -
This is absolute rubbish. Crouch did not oversee transfers, he was a minority on the board when Wilde and his gang were in control and seems to have been sidelined by them completely, ending in his being forced from the Board. The only time he had this sort of influence was between Dec 2007 and April 2008 when he was attempting to reduce costs by loaning out the big earners (rasiak and Skacel) and planning th corner closure and bus service cut backs which were kater implemented by Lowe. I think like one or two other misinformed people you are confusing Crouch with Wilde. Crouch is not entirely innocent, but he is nothing like the criminal you seem to imagine him to be.

Newsround says we fold on Monday if no deal is done Probably a better source than many.
-
Quite why he would leave Swindon to join us who will start the season 10 points behind Swindon is beyond me. You do know that he is being touted around for teams in the Prem. Reality checks are needed by some, we will be in Division 3 next season.
-
Aged 38, I know thats a bit younger than me, but bloody old for an outfield player.
-
Some of us are a bit older than others, so who is to say we will see Saints back in the top flight again in our lifetime, hopefully we will, I'm not that old. However, bigger problem may be that while we are languishing in Division 3 or below the Premier League may well establish Prem 2 as they are considering. If so promotion from Division 3 to Prem 2 will be much more difficult than it is to Division 2 at present, especially if the size of the top 2 divisions is reduced to enable Celtic & Rangers to join the elite. This is probably the worst time possible to be relegated to Div 3, especially with a 10 point penalty next season making it even more difficult to bounce straight back up.

Stockport may still have points deducted next season if they don't come out of Admin with a CVA. Of course that applies to Saints as well, but as things stand going into Admin is not the end of the story.

+1 What I read in Sid's post was one of the most ridiculous posts ever, absolute ******** from start to finish. I never really took to Crouch, still don't, but to blame him for the financial mess is about as stupid as a very stupid thing. Crouch has put more money directly into this Club than any of the other idiots that have been associated recently. He even continued to provide a small amount of sponsorship even with Lowe and Poodle in charge. Some people seem to be blind of facts - Crouch was only chairman from late December 2007 to early May 2008, prior to that it was Wilde's gang, aka Lowe's poodle. During his bried reign as chairman, Crouch loaned out 2 big earners, started the business of closing the corners and stopping the subsidised bus scheme to cut costs. He also appointed a very experienced manager/assistant manager in John Gorman, and when it became clear quite quickly that JG was still suffering from the effects of the loss of his wife acted swiftly to replace him, and in so doing ensured that we avoided the disaster that was relegation (and as Mandick has now found, perhaps unwittingly unearthed a rough diamond of a manager). LC may not be the most erudite bloke around, but his heart is in the right place, and with moderate means he has done what he can to support the club financially. Unlike any of the other tossers that get mentioned here. Clean sweep by all means, but LC is not the devil incarnate, whereas Wilde, Lowe and Askham come pretty close to being so.

Are you talking about Cotterill or Coppell? If Cotterill it could be because he was previously manager of Burnley, the away team I've been advocating Cotterill for a long time now (while Burley was still here), his local connections and his abilities in the League (as opposed to the Prem) are well documented. Is probably about the best realistic option unless we have loads of money.

So Tisdale would look to leave Exeter and join Saints, who will start next season at least 10 points above us, in all probability. Of course he won't. Some sense of perspective is needed here. Tisdale is a decent shout, but it won't happen. I'm also not absolutely sure that he is the right man to turn round a team that is on a downward spiral, he is the sort that builds slowly, improving teams gradually, and is very successful doing just that.

People read The Sun? I thought it was just for looking at pictures.

Assume you have never tried selling a property and completing in a week. The chance of selling any property and completing the deal in a week is just so unlikely as to be untrue, even in good times, at the moment, you're having a laugh...

Lallana possibly going for £5m, which is nice.
VectisSaint replied to buctootim's topic in The Saints
I suspect Lallana could be good one day, but he needs some serious coaching by someone experienced working with youngsters. I can see the logic of Fulham or Spuds taking him more for the long term, especially with new rules about home-grown players being discussed. I suspect a loan to Leicester next season would see Lallana develop in the Championship into a useful Prem player in the future -
Maths looks fine in Southampton, in order to beat 321 you need 322 (or at least 321 and a dog). Maths in Pompey not too good.

Assuming Davis moves on (and who would blame him) then the GKs would presumably be Forecast and Poke. I thought Michael was back with us but see he came on as a sub for Torquay (when Scott Bevan was injured) against Barrow in midweek and played the full match for the Gulls against Burton on Sunday. Hopefully he has 3 more games this season. Of the rest I would like to see James, Perry and Gillett stay, and possibly Holmes. Not bothered about anyone else I'm afraid though some of the younger players will be useful backup in the squad - McLaggon for instance.
