Yep, I suspect The Port will play their reserve team
-
I will vote for them...

Well thats yet another reason to get shot of Wotte. Our under-achieving players who got us relegated respect him, says it all really.

Probably subject of an NDA, just like the fellas looking to take over Newcastle. Matt and Lynam were probably allowed to break cover because in the end they are not the prospective owners, and announcing Matt is involved is a good thing for one and all. I would be more worried if we did know who it was, because that would tell me that the propsective new owner is not very discreet and probably not a good businessman. I know it seems to be taking an age, but patience is a virtue, and all will be revealed in the fullness of time however much gnashing of teeth we indulge in.

+1, and maybe Big Ron as well.

Fortunately MLT is not as daft as you, and will hopefully ensure that Lawrie is involved in some way, even if not on the Board. Thats the great thing about having someone involved who understands the Club; history is important, and those who contributed greatly to that history are welcome not made to feel like pariahs. Only those who contributed to our downfall, the true pariahs such as Lowe, Wilde, Hone and Dulieu would be banished.

I thought Ecclestone's plan is to move QPR to the UAE so that he can make even more money.

References to Rupert really are best avoided. Personally I would class Rupert as a B or even a C, possibly even an F'ing C.
-
Would think Barry Venison is a better choice for V that Ulrich van Gobble, I always think using "van" or even "le" is cheating a bit. Personally I would include Le Tiss under "T" rather than "L", there are plenty of other choices for "L".

You forgot Phil Collins and that chap from Seattle with the big yacht...

Like a few others, Steve Cotterill is the man for me. Not sure why he was not included in the poll. Have been persisting with this view for a long time now Tisdale is OK, but it won't happen (at least not yet), if anyone can explain why he would leave Exeter to join a club 10 points worse off in the same division is beyond me (even if he is ex-Saints). He is also not the right man for the job right now, he is renowned as a slow builder, we need someone to come in and kick ass from day 1. Perhaps we should go for that Pearson bloke, seemed like a good one before

The guy is a total and utter plank, so far out of touch with the game that he makes Sepp Blatter look intelligent. I believe his duck house comes complete with a moat and wysteria. Why do we allow politicians to become heads of major sporting institutions in this country. Incidentally, on topic, my understanding is that the issue with HMRC is not relevant in our case, I may be wrong but I don't think HMRC are a (major) creditor. The major creditor in our case was clearly Barclays. Even Norwich Union/Aviya only become a serious creditor if we have defaulted on mortgage payments, and there is no evidence I have seen to suggest this was the case. Hopefully therefore even if we are stuck with the wholly unjustified 10 point deduction we should not get a further deuction because HMRC will not block the CVA.

Totally agree, my point above. As a former league official in Wilts this is what we always did, as it is in the youth football standard template "rules" published by the FA.
-
Just highlights the crass stupidity of the rule. If you are safe mid-table you can go into admin, and have effectively no punishment. But if you are relegated (already in big trouble) you then get a penalty the next season as well. 2 punishments for 1 crime. And all this is supposed to prevent cheating (clubs spending above what they earn to get higher up the league). And in the end the people who have caused the problem walk away scott-free, not even banned from all future involvement in the sport. You really couldn't make it up (well actually you could, as Mawmoney has clearly demonstrated)
-
Point is that Sheff Utd should have been awarded the game, and Palace should have been deducted a point (or points) as well. Thats what would have happened in most lower leagues. As it happens it makes no difference to either team, but its what happens when organisations can make up rules as they go along, like deducting points for a holding company going into Admin. Its what comes of having corrupt politicians involved in sport.

Pompey....probably the best drinkers in the world
VectisSaint replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
But he could have played for Wales (or Scotland or Ireland or even France) because he comes from the Channel Islands, which is not part of England or Great Britain, or even the UK. So don't get so wound up about Abu Dubai or whatever -
Notice that this has been fixed now, changed to season 1899-1900. I guess someone is monitoring this message board

How about some proper beer, Ringwood Bitter or something rather than all this chavvy lager stuff We're not all teenagers you know LOL
-
So it won't be the last home game then I am looking forward most to the last game of the season when we are promoted as Champions. Just not sure which season that will be.
-
(Pedant alert): It is formally known as League One, but it was formerly known as Division 3
-
Very odd that it is almost word for word what is in the Southampton FC Wiki page, except that they changed this date and the number of years before the next final from 2 to 3. Those 2 first half goals from Jasper McLuckie, and the others from Wood and Plant still haunt me To be fair to Bury they were bound to win with a player called Jasper McLuckie weren't they.

For those who won't be getting a season ticket next year
VectisSaint replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
Good stuff. Actually going to nealry every game and not buying a season ticket is far better for the finances than buying a season ticket in the long term. I know clubs like to have money in from season tickets so that they can make financial forecasts and so on, but overall revenue is decreased by STs. Of course if you are financially stretched then buy a ST, but otherwise while we do not have anything like a sell out then regularly pay as you go is a much better option. -
LOL. Must have been a complete freak if anyone ever picked it up in Marlborough. The town is at the bottom of a bllody great hill to the south, and its difficult enough to pick up anything local. Hampshire Radio faded anywhere near Winchester on most receivers, which is exactly how it was designed. You couldn't even get it on the Isle of Wight FFS. That doesn't mean it was bad, but with huge amounts of supporters outside the direct Southampton area it was never goign to work. As for listening online, great, I tend not to do such things when driving. The idea of a radio station for a club is nowadays completely laughable, even the top stations in the country are struggling and only surviving by merging. Next someone will suggest Saints TV back on Sky. Hello, we are in Division 3!!!!!

Not so sure, it may be that only the corners will be open...
