  1. Reading away last season was said to be ome of our best away performances for years. What you mean you forgot we had managed to hold on to away leads at Derby, Doncaster, Reading, Preston, Barnsley and Ipswich last season. Yes we've played the mighty Millwall, Stockport, Swindon, Brentford and 10 man Colchester in our first 7 games and fairly soon we should be able to find someone in Div 3 we can actually beat. When are you going to relaise we are 11 points from safety have spent a fortune in terms of this division and have still gone 15% of the the season without a win. Jan Portfliet was being crucified at this stage of last season in a higher league with far less resources and the same points total from the first 7 games.
  2. It's a pity that Pardew didn't come up with the idea at Stockport we might only be 9 points away from the relegation zone now.
  3. Your inability to count past 2 shows your ineptitude with figures Bum-Pahars. Perry, Cork & Scheiderlin played, Wotton & Forecast were on the bench . That's five of the 9 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pillock Gasmi has nearly recovered from injury. As far as I'm aware Smith, Svensson, Holmes, Pullis & Smith were all injured but in your 15 man squad they would have sat on the bench no doubt.
  4. 4-4-2 didn't achieve any results last season but we persisted in playing it every game In case you hadn't noticed we've lost Baseya, A Davies ,Hammill, Idiakez, Licka, Lucketti, Ostlund, Pericard, Powell, Rasiak , Richard Wright, Safri, Saganowski, Viafara,Vignal, J Wright from the squad available to Pearson at the end of last season. Are you seriously suggesting we should shed 16 players from the squad that took us within 20 minutes of relegation and not bring in 9 or 10 players at vastly lower wages to replace them. How would your 15 man squad have coped with the long term injuries to Svensson, Thomas, Schneiderlin, Euell & Holmes. I take it you would have only been naming 3 substitutes two of which would be goalkeepers.
  5. Oxford and Luton have both won a major trophy since we did. Where are they now
  6. But that overspend wasn't just limited to last season was it, It was over the 3 years of players contracts which equates to £9m, £12m £15M overspend over the players contracts. It's the reason we are not able to shift Skacel, Saga, John, BWP, Euell etc because nobody else considers it worth paying them the wages we offered them. They'll pay them or a proportion of them to get the player on loan but they won't stump up the transfer fee as well which is what we really needed (as well as getting the wage off the payroll). It shows that we've blatently overpaid Skacel when Ipswich wouldn't offer him more than half what he is on here. and those couple of hardnosed CCC experienced palyers to augment the talented youngsters could have easily gone the same way as Svensson, Holmes, Schneiderlin, Euell, and Thomas as spent most of the season on the treatment table leaving us an even less experienced team. We've struggled to fill the squad with the injuries we've had, how would we have coped with 7 players less (I'll concede Pullis & Gasmi haven't played yet but we would still have been 5 less players in the squad Which of the existing squad who took us within 20 minutes of relegation last were worth working hard on to retain. With the exception of Stern John whose goals kept us up I can't think of any whose performances last season warranted a contract extension.
  7. I take it you're going to put your money where your mouth is and have a few grand on the 7/4 against relegation on offer at Blue Square http://www.bluesq.com/bet?action=go_oc_grp&level=&type=&type_id=4381&oc_grp_id=29430 If you're so certain we'll go down this will be like printing money for you
  8. If you call 15 starts and 17 sub appearances not getting a look in. It's more than some of the youngsters you are slagging off have played in their entire career. You make allowances for an experienced striker who scored 3 goals in 32 appearances last season but have decided DMG who has scored 5 goals in 15 appearances is useless.
  9. The loss of Schneiderlin and Holmes has had a massive effect. How many times in the first half a dozen games did Morgan or Gillet look up and fire a 40yd out ball to Holmes who was then looking to take the defence on. The loss of these two players has changed the whole shape of play.
  10. Well I spoke to Rudi Skacel last week and he said to that the reason the move th Hertha Berlin collapsed because they didn't think he was worth the wages he was asking for. When Ipswixh came in and offered the money Skacel said that he was asking for a lot more money than they were prepared to pay for a player who hasn't done anything of note since scoring a few goals against Gretna and Livingston two and a half years ago. Skacel then said he was more than prepared to sit it out at Saints and pick up his huge wages for doing nothing for the rest of the season by which time he'll have accumulated enough cash to retire back to Czechoslovakia. I didn't really speak to Rudi but does anyone honestly believe he is going to tell a supporter it's his fault he's not playing because he's thrown his toys out of the pram.
  11. Yes fancy asking him to perform the miracle of getting 21 points from 22 games and such a barren January transfer window in which he brought in half a team in the shape of Quashie, Redknapp, Bernard, Camara and Davenport. That ace manager Bryan Robson at WBA who were behind us at Christmas only got Kevin Campbell (an aging donkey) on a free, Richard Chaplow (later lent to us because he wasn't good enough for the PL) and Richardson on loan and managed to overtake us.
  12. No the first regime (Wilde, Crouch & Hone) inherited the wage reduction brought about from Lowe's January cull. The first regime then brought in BWP, JW, Pele, KD, Skacel, Viafara, Makin & Idiakez. Out went Paul Smith, Folly, Oakley, Higginbotham, Blackstock & Fuller. Fuller must have been a really large wedge if you think this turnover of players brought a wage reduction.
  13. How can this be true. As soon as Burley arrived Niemi, McCann, Wise, Ormerod, Haito , Quashie and Delap from our high wage earners left in the January transfer window along with Blayney, Walcott, Mills and McNiel. That's 11 players leaving with 3 coming in (Bialkowski, Brennan and Ostlund) http://www.soccerbase.com/transfers_by_team.sd?teamid=2471 I must be missing something as I would have thought this substantially reduced the wage bill under Lowe.
  14. Lucketti & Pericard were both playing in the PL the season before last. As far as I am aware Sheff Utd didn't have the same relegation wage cuts in their players contracts as we did so he would still have been on PL wages. Pericard wouldn't have taken too much of a pay cut to join Stoke from the Skates. I very much doubt that we are paying Forecast, Pekhart & Cork one quarter of the money we were paying Wright, Pearce, Lucketti & Pericard last season as they don't ave any PL experience do they? How much do you think S****horpe were able to pay Cork last season?
  15. It's a pity JP hasn't been able to bring in 4 experienced PL / ex PL players on PL stye wages as NP did in the form of Wright, Lucketti, Pearce and Pericard. Knowing you've only got to plug the holes temporarily and can bring in players on high wages to do it, is a lot easier than having to build a team for a season and beyond from scratch. Especially so when you've a squad of experienced players who are 16th in the league when you take over and proved the season before that they should have been nearer the playoffs than relegation.
  16. Ostlund Thomas Dailly Iffil the defence that conceded 5 at Preston last season Thomas Dailly Davies Skacel the defence that conceded 5 at Sheff W last season Ostlund Powell Thomas Vignal the defence that conceded 5 at Hull last season Wright Thomas Makin Vignal the defence that conceded 3 at Watford last season Wright Thomas Dailly Vignall the defence that conceded 3 at home to Barnsley last season Thomas Powell Davies Wright the defence that concede 3 at home to QPR last season Those defences had big bruising experienced defenders in them and still managed to leak goals. The one common factor in these defences is one of the biggest bruising experienced defender in Wayne Thomas somebody who a lot of people are calling for to stop us leaking goals. If he's the player to shore up the defence how many goals would we have conceded in the above games if he hadn't played.
  17. And he also brought in Pearce & Pericard on loan. That's 5 players half a team 4 of whom were on far higher wages than we can pay now. It took him 12 games to realise that Lallana was better thaan BWP, Pericard & Licka etc and give him a place on the bench despite the fact that anybody who watched the reserves last season could see that Lallana more than deserved a starting place. When NP took over we were 16th and Ladbrokes were offering 5-1 against us going down. After 12 games under Pearson we were odds on to go down and 22nd. We were 20 minutes from relegation and he has become a hero because we beat a Sheff Utd side who had nothing to play for after half time.
  18. Perhaps somebody should have explained the stupid system that awards three draws the same same value as one win to Pearson when he took over. It's the only time I've ever heard the points system as stupid. It was changed decades ago when untalented managers realised they didn't have to do anything more than become hard to beat in order to survive.
  19. Try havin a look at Chris Perry. Jumped under the throw in for the second, committed himself on the halfway line and hadn't made it back into the box for the third and a poor defensive header put Eastwood through to set up the fourth
  20. And you'll be the first to criticise Lowe when we have to sell Lallana in January because we didn't get enough in gate receipts to pay the bills.
  21. That's just wonderful that you'll deprive Saints of £24.99 to prevent Lowe getting 1p. I think you need to get a reality check
  22. So Pearson's barking of orders and instructions from the touchline against Plymouth had no effect on the game at all. Did the team ignore him or was he telling players to do things they weren't capable of? If as you suggest he didn't know the team at all we would have been better off having somebody who did know the players giving the instructions while Pearson sat in the stand and observed. And you still haven't addressed my point that he played for the draw at home to Coventry instead of using his attacking subs to go for a win. You claim he made us hard to beat which I agree he did by maintaining a rigid 442 whatever the circumstances e.g. 1-0 down to Burnley who only played 1 up front while we made no effort to push more players forward to get the equaliser.
  23. Pearson knew how many points were at stake at home to Coventry when he allowed the game to peter out in a boring 0-0 draw rather than bring on Surman and Hamill to try and win it. And if we had beaten Plymouth I'm sure you would have included it in his record. He was on the touchline waving his arms around and shouting that to me is him calling the shots.
  24. And last season we drew 1-1 away to Colchester and scraped a 1-1 draw with S****horpe (who played 35 mins with 10 men) with a very dodgy last minute penalty from Vignal. A vast improvement to actually get 3 points and keep a clean sheet yesterday.
  25. So you think that if we went back to playing 4-4-2 and bought players like Jermaine Wright, Darren Powell, Alex Ostlund, Inigo Idiakez, Chris Makin & Youssef Safri we would be heading towards promotion with a packed SMS. I don't think so
