  1. Totally agree and I was one of them. I was pretty happy when Mane went. Shows what I know but I'm not afraid to admit it. He was pretty dreadful for large parts of that Koeman season. So were many of the players. I remember slagging off lots of performances. We could/should have got Europe that season. When we were on it we were great. But we were off it for almost the whole middle third of the season.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I’ve worked out that for us it’s still viable for a season ticket if we can make 10 games or more. The £19 U-11 really makes a difference. Although my lad won’t admit it the games he really wants to see are the Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc. (It’s not so easy growing up a Saints fan outside of Southampton) and this seems the only way of guaranteeing those games If I can claw back some cash somehow, it makes the decision a bit easier.
  3. I’m an ex STH from early 80’s and then early 2000’s who moved away from the city. My 10 year old boy Has shown an interest in watching some games next season and I’m treating it as possibly my last chance to get a season ticket & am looking in the Family Stand. it’s a full day away from home for us so it’s quite risky that we may end up not making too many games and know there are 6 already we won’t make. My question is around the sell on/buy back scheme that is mentioned on the website. Does anyone have any experience if this and how it works? Especially in the Family stand. Can I sell on my adult ticket only or does it have to go to an adult and child?
  4. I don't disagree....it doesn't make him good enough for a top team though. If he starts any games at the World Cup I will gladly eat my words. I've got nothing against him I just think he's over-rated apart from taking direct free kicks
  5. JWP isn't that player. He did it last week which magically made people forget how incredibly ordinary he is the majority of the time.
  6. Total agree with Saint Michael. Essentially what did us was a couple of individual errors and then the total gulf in finances. The players they took off added to the players they brought on are worth more in the market than our entire club let alone the squad. As someone else said, we ended up looking like the plucky League One team, not a team that is meant to be competing in the same league. When the breakaway European league was announced was totally against it but I'm coming round to the idea. I would have no interest in watching it but it would create a slightly more level playing field for the rest.
  7. Possibly Bertrand could’ve tried to head the corner away instead of trying to barge the player?
  8. Wonder what people would be saying if Redmond was playing and performing even half as bad as Diallo or Minamino
  9. No way a penalty.
  10. I've read a few reports this morning and everyone seems to be talking about the Neto goal being world class. Barely a mention of the Ings goal. Am I alone in thinking that Vesty shouldn't be turned so easily and that McCarthy should've saved it? On the GK debate, I'm a fan of McCarthy and was very critical of Fraser when it seemed the opponent just needed to get a shot on target to score a goal (my memory is good and it was that bad) but there's no way conceding 14 goals in 3 games, regardless of fault, puts you in a good mindset. Fraser should definitely play against Chelsea.
  11. Because people got wise up the way we play and our strikers stopped scoring?
  12. I think we might be underestimating the effect of COVID on Ings. I had it in January and although I was over the worst of it in a couple of days, I still get incredibly tired at certain parts of the day. Not enough to stop me doing things but maybe Danny is feeling just well enough to play but not quite at full power.
  13. I suppose that's true.
  14. I think it is...Utd are a good team and we had a lot going against us. We had a virtually full strength team out today and Newcastle are most definitely not a good team.
  15. Nope...can't put that to bed because we were really good until Christmas. How would a full St Marys react to Redmond next time out after today?
  16. Calling that performance abysmal is very strange. Villa are a good side and we managed to keep them to essentially one attempt on goal and it was actually a very good goal. How many times this season has McCarthy been totally wrong footed? It seems to me that the problem is we only have one player who has the guile to create chances with clever defence splitting passes - Ings We only have one player confident enough to convert those chances - Ings Che seems to have lost that little burst of confidence he had....a couple of months ago, he would have buried his chance.
  17. Except for the last 2 games?
  18. I've got to say I'm surprised at the positivity here..yes, it was a good performance and and excellent game in general but we still lost from a winning position and conceded in the last 5 minutes. It seems because it was against a resurgent Man Utd everyone seems relatively happy. I wonder how the reaction will be if we do the same against Brighton in a couple of weeks. To my memory we often raised our game against the big clubs even under MP and MH and then returned to normal for the next game. We still got zero points from the game and are out of the bottom three only because Cardiff currently seem worse than us.(despite beating us twice) Sorry if I seem a bedwetter here but I'm afraid I'm not as positive about a game that followed exactly the same storyline as most other games from the past two years, netted no points and had us concede three goals. I've had too many false dawns to be celebrating the "manner" of our defeat. (i.e. no personal errors leading to the goals) Also, apart from the first penalty which was a definite, I thought the ref did okay. the game, particularly first half, was really niggly and he could've been very card happy. I thought Bertrand was lucky to stay on the pitch, their penalty was stonewall & our second would have been incredibly soft. I don't post often nowadays but I thought it was interesting that I found myself so out of step with the general feel after this match it was worth putting my head above the parapet. I hope I'm wrong and we kick on from a good performance and keep it up next week...
  19. Ralph has an incredibly tough job ahead. I disagree with people who say our squad is too good to go down. Burnley just beat a team that comprehensively outplayed us in the week. Staying up this season will be a major, major achievement.
  20. Austin goal looked a mile offside...would rather our good luck was used up on goals that actually mattered.
  21. Wish I was a neutral...most exciting game this season.....two poor teams but as bad as each other makes for a decent game. Both sides will be outclassed by virtually everyone else this year.
  22. We've played some really good looking stuff with no end product as always....I don't know how the board can say we have a better squad than our position. These players are playing to the limits of their abilities....they just aren't good enough.....not Hughes, Pellegrino or Puel's fault. Apart from Austin, I don't question anyone's work rate or passion.....just their footballing ability
  23. Second half not bad considering. Once again i would say that our players can't actually play any better than they do. It's a middling Championship League squad. We've found our level and it's not in this league.
  24. I remember giving City a game very well....it was last season.
  25. I doubt we got the VVD money in one payment...Liverpool probably paying in instalments.....In any case you might be right. The fact is though I don't think money is the issue. All of our record signings have been complete duffers. Our success 3 or 4 years ago wasn't down to spending pots of money but getting good players at a good price.....should still be possible. I have a hard time blaming KL too. As far as I understand it she has zero interest in football...why should she? This was her Dad's passion project, not hers. I'd have a hard time giving a sh1t about a team from a town I couldn't care less about playing a sport I couldn't care less about.
