  1. Yep. If that was best for SFC, meant we were promoted to the PL and stayed there whilst increasing the size of our ground (as he appears insistent upon). Im not even saying I could afford it at that price, but provided enough people could he is doing his job. Unfortunately its what football is all about now.
  2. I understand where all the animosity towards NC comes from. However, I have no doubt that he is doing what is best for SFC. He has a plan, one that he and most on this forum thinks will work to achieve the goals he and the owner have set themselves. If SFC getting back to top of the game means Im going to be annoyed with the Chairman, then its a price I will pay. SFC or me in football terms, SFC wins everytime.
  3. It doesnt have to be a pointless job. The assumption would be that the DoF, scouts, and coaches can stay at a club for decade(s). The manager changes more frequently - its the nature of the role. This gives a solid continuity within the club behind the scenes, and links the football side. Its a method used by Lyon, and although there is a bit more to it than that, they were playing in the third tier of French football when they were taken over around 20 years ago.
  4. He does need support and has got advice for this recently. Doesnt look like it helped though! Needs to get himself sorted for his and his families sake. Might be time to take a break from Southampton - a lots changed for him here in the last 5-6 years!
  5. This. I am one who always looks for positives, and wants time etc. However I can only do that if I can see what we are trying to do. Early on with signings etc it was clear we were addressing things, and the first 10 odd games there was improvement. We are now going sideways and the concern is, as above, I like many others cant quite see where we are going and how we are going to do it. Having said that, I am a fickle bastard - beat Mk Dons, Pimpley and Norwich (ok ok im getting carried away) and we are the back on it! ;-)
  6. We spent about five years in an utter downward spiral, with this in mind despite the signings, the money, the at times confusing pardew decisions, this will take time to fix. That's how it is.
  7. Songs such as "anti is a saints fan" and "one agent anti" should be used merely as a wind up to the blue few!
  8. 4-5-1 is by far and aware our better formation. Some on here who think it's negative are barmy. It gives us options and confidence. We dot have two centre mfielders good enough to dominate the play but with a third, they have the confidence to get themselves involved. All it means is lambert will have less opportunities but they will still come.
  9. Wilshire will go to a prem club, wenger wants him to get experience in the top division. One name we could get is John Bostock, attacking centre midfielder lost his way a little bit. And will have a point to prove to saggy chops!
  10. Gutted. We seemed to lack balance in the midfield, I always prefer some kind of pace in there just to make opposition defenders think. Even if Waigo or Antonio have a shocker, they will still panic people. Still. On on.
  11. Moritz Volz? Is he still knocking about on a free transfer?
  12. They will have it on for sure. Last time I went to watch a saints game there, they had some Norweign league game on, the F1, rugby and hurling I think.... Surely even though we are not top dollar news anymore Andy (thats the guy who manages it or at least used to) will find some room for the saints!
  13. There have been many takeovers that appear to have huge cash injections, or dawns of a new era that have turned out not quite as they first appear... The biscuit man at West Ham F1 at QPR Even Liverpool are looking in a spot of bother. The guys who took over Coventry There are many many more So takeovers may not be what they seem. The clown at Portsmouth is the same guy that stood in front of the cameras saying he was going to buy Torres, Gerrard and god knows who else. He was quickly moved out of the limelight as he clearly was just a guy of low intellect. We will just have to wait and see.
  14. And Mel, why did you kill Durrington Saint? You all grown up now you are living in the land of watches and chocolate?
  15. I live in Amesbury but work all over the place. Count me in.
