  1. I totally agree. Yes I have a lot of sympathy for Adkins and he did a wonderful job getting 2 promotions in 2 years but you have to look at the long term position. I would just love it if Saints had a team capable of getting into Europe. I don't want us just making up the numbers every season always being in a relegation battle. Lets think positive and see where this club can go.
  2. They were a year younger and less experienced last season. We could also only name 5 subs so there was limited opportunities for them. When they played in the cup games they showed their potential. From the reports all of the youngsters have impressed in pre-season and and seem to have fitted in very well. Don't be surprised if 1 or more gets a place on the bench next season.
  3. As much as I like Harding and Dickson, I do feel both are prone to mistakes when defending. A number of goals conceded seem to come as a result of crosses especially from that side not being cut out. Also neither Harding or Dickson would cut it in the Premiership so if the intention is give promotion a real go this season then Fox seems a very good signing with his previous experience of playing at a higher level. PLayers we bought whilst in Div 1 were with the Championship in mind now it seems we are looking at players with the Premiership in mind. The future looks bright, the future is red and white.
  4. I'm going to South Africa for 3 weeks but fixtures worked out very kindly. There is an International break whilst I'm away so only miss one home league game against Watford.
  5. Lee Holmes played on right wing in first friendly in Switzerland and provided two crosses for Connolly to score. A lot of players now play on the opposite side to their natural foot with the idea of cutting back inside.
  6. Renewed my 2 today. Had to wait in a queue for about 45mins. When I came away the queue was still about the same length so sales seem to be steady.
  7. Rather than having a go at supporters who leave the match a minute or two early (they may have a very genuine reason, like me having to get home to a disabled wife), what about all the so called supporters who don't even go to the match. There was a crowd just over 22,000 on Saturday yet here we are going all out for promotion so I would have expected a lot more than that. There should be a minimum of least 25,000 at every home game from now until the end of season. At least if you actually go to the match then it is up you when you leave.
  8. Ordered mine online today. Get the World Cup out of the way and let's get down to winning this league.
  9. Couldn't believe it when the postman came. Got my tickets today as well. Block 141 row 44
  10. According to official website, Harding, Jaidi, Hammond and James were all on 4 bookings going into Walsall game. Both Harding & Jaidi were booked today so both will be suspended against Tranmere.
  11. I was in hospital in Alton in 1976 for a knee operation and Ken Jones was in the bed next me having his knee cartilage repaired. I remember it well because we listened on the radio to the 5th round replay from the Dell of the FA cup match against West Brom. Fortunately I recovered in time to make the Semi and then the Final at Wembley.
  12. You are quite right. It was New Years Day in 1977. I too drove up there with my brother only to find the match off so like you we went to Spurs v West Ham. Actually that is my only visit to White Hart Lane.
  13. I'm very surprised no one has mentioned trying to get Jack Cork bacl on loan from Chelsea.
