He's literally played 36 mins off the bench at left back - he isn't in any way a defender and I'd be amazed if he would ever be considered to play fullback in the Premier League.

A good player but not entirely sure how he will fit in. Definitely better as a #10, goes through periods of ups and downs out wide and, contrary to a couple of mentions, I don’t recall him ever playing a defensive centre midfield role. Big and strong, good on the ball but zero pace. Strength is getting on the ball and creating rather than providing much supply from the wing. Also did a turn up front in the latter part of the season when there were no strikers available, used his physique well up there. The Rangers fan above mentioned about the goal he scored whilst covering left back - this was in a European tie where he came off the bench at left back due to an injury crisis, he never played there again. Main concern would be that he has played an awful lot of football over the last couple of seasons and his performance - understandably - dropped off quite badly for a couple of months after Christmas this year as he was almost certainly knackered. Seemed to largely stay clear of injuries despite this though which is good - hopefully that continues and he comes in refreshed for this season. I expect his success will be dependent on how we look to utilise him for the price you can’t complain too much.

Could get Leigh Griffiths for around £7m... would rather make a move for a guy who can actually put the ball in the goal.

A loan spell in Scotland never did any harm for the likes of Forster and Tim Krul?

Matty Paterson.

Superb news. Next step - commit international future to Scotland.

Ross Wilson appointed as Director of Scouting & Recruitment

Not a chance he'd leave for the utter shambles that is Rangers. Unless they are offering silly money which, of course, they cannot afford. -
You think?! Davis was our best midfielder. Romeu ineffective and JWP non-existent. Really poor performance overall.
-
What was Romeu doing for the last two goals?! Should be dropped for that alone. Awful.

At Greenock Morton (Scottish Championship) it is £17 across all sections of the ground. I think that's pretty expensive for the standard of football but we seem to be the lowest in the division. Football has become a very expensive sport.

VVD should have better shooting than that. What are his free kick stats like?

It was crap for him too. -

Wearing number 17... crap number for a centre half. -
Mane had an excellent second half last season but I would sell high as I'm convinced he won't perform anywhere near those levels this season.

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
SFC Chris replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
I suspect there may be a deal in place but Celtic want him to be available for both legs of the champions league qualifiers with the transfer going through after that. -
If I recall, he had a couple of decent games to begin with and was then less than useless til he decided he was Ronaldo after Christmas (or whenever it was).

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
SFC Chris replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Van Dijk would be a tremendous signing. Genuinely has it all and, as previously mentioned, is always a threat from dead balls - either from corners or direct free kicks. -
His first few months here he was absolutely dreadful, you must surely admit that.
-
Going purely by Football Manager style ratings then yes, absolutely. He was absolutely brutal until after Christmas (or there abouts) though has been excellent since. Therefore, I'd have his average rating around a 6.5 - with a 9 for his second half.

Goalkeepers- Forster- 8 Davis- 7 Gazzaniga- 5 Defenders Clyne- 8 Fonte- 9 (really stepped it up this year - was key to our success) Toby- 8 Yoshida- 7 Gardos- 6 Bertrand- 8 Targett- 7 Midfielders- Davis- 7 Wanyama- 8 Reed- 6 JWP- 6 (really disappointed with JWP, expected much more this season) Morgan- 8 Tadic- 7 (excellent in parts, anonymous in others) Djuricic- 5 Attackers- Pelle- 8 (carried the team for much of the season) Mane- 6.5 (4 first half, 9 second half) Long- 6 (no goals) Ellia- 5

If it involved a big team they would allow it no doubt.

http://www.gmfc.net/News/&action=fullnews&id=1346 Unable to play football again this season because he played 27 minutes for Rotherham?! Absolute joke. A totally unnecessary and ill thought out rule. Can't get my head around it at all.
