Interesting and quirky? If you like curry you should take a wander down Brick Lane in the East End. There's lots of galleries and exhibitions in the area; my particular favourite is a gallerry with every picture made from burnt toast. Walk further east to Whitechapel and see the Blind Beggar pub; the Krays hangout. There are several Jack the ripper tours on Saturdays, and I think there is a museum about the elephant man somewhere.
