Unlikely I know. I really rate him. Fantastic at Newcastle and initially at Liverpool. Seems down the pecking order at Liverpool now. Think I read that Rodgers was considering playing Downing at LB, so it seems his days are numbered. As you say not much chance of it happening.

I think if we got him, and also went for Enrique the Liverpool LB we may have a chance of staying up.

We can't change any personnel till January, so what we have to do is get organised. Very quickly too. Once we concede one goal it quickly becomes two or three. That's not acceptable. At Everton I turned to my mate and said we have to keep this at 2-1 to give ourselves a chance. As I was saying it they scored their third. Similar yesterday 1 became 2 and were up against it. We had a chat in the boozer with a couple of decent blokes. They were older lads and had been all over Europe watching Villa. Very complimentary about us as a side. They mentioned nothing about us not clapping for Petrov. On the other hand the "lads" walking back into town who tried to start a bit of grid and were told quite quickly to jog on were laughable.
