Just a question of when and who replaces him. There is only one problem with this team and that must be solved with the immediate sacking of the manager. Tactically inept and too slow to react. Sadly Pellegrino is out of his depth. Questions need to be asked about the process of recruitment.

To clear penalties on Hoedt, but nobody is talking about those. You can’t hold a mans shirt and drag him to the ground. Fact is a draw was the fair result. A point away is never bad, but tactically we got it wrong in the first half. We should have won this game. I don’t ask for the manager to be sacked though and hope he uses the experience to realise the potential of this team

Brilliant line up! Well done Pelligrino. Exactly the formation to hit them on the break and defend compact.
-
Actually I’m buzzing for the game. Looking forward to the player reaction and I really hope Pelligrino finds the solution.

Not good enough or underperforming and if underperforming why? Fitness? tactics? management? I don’t buy into sack the manager. I think it’s a team problem. If the manager has lost the changing room then I agree sack the manager, but I don’t think he has. Reed, Black and Watson, along with others are also accountable. As for ‘The Southampton Way’ i’m not sure what that means at the moment. It seems muddled.

It frustrates me that when things go wrong we immediately ask for the head of the manager. We’re told about how it’s a team effort and that everyone is works together. In my opinion something has gone wrong with the ‘Southampton Way’.

Level 2, MOD 3 Finally on UEFA B course after waiting 2 years for FA to get there act together. Thanks for asking

We have an excellent squad of players. Good enough to finish in the top 10. We have an excellent man manager, coach and all round decent guy in Pellegrino. An honest and genuine man. Where we are going wrong is tactically and maximising our assets. We have brought in an inexperienced man, who needs time, but more importantly needs the people around him who can help him in the probation period. This is where we have gone wrong. Sammy Lee was vitally important to Koeman.

Wind against second half. How many times has Bertrand played back? How many good forward runs get ignored. Shane Long you must at least hit the target. Dominant but nothing.

Mourinho went to Vienna for a long weekend to recharge his batteries. He decided to watch the Austria match.

Heard today that VVD is really enjoying being back and regrets having had to alienate himself during his transfer disagreement. It appears he was under instruction by his management. I may well leave in January, but there won't be a repeat of the stand off.

This victory was impressive. A behind closed door friendly meant that this was a very young size against a very physical Cambridge team. Yes Saints we're lucky that Cambridge couldn't finish, but a lot of credit has to Jaidi for the way he organized his team, for Thor discipline and determination to find a way to win. The goal came from Saints only chance on target and some great resilience from Ollie Cooke and O'Driscoll meant Saints weathered the storm. Outstanding players tonight were Slattery (big future), Barnes (held up the ball excellently and challenged for everything), both centrebacks and Alex McCarthy who really showed excellent handling. Will Wood did well against some tough opposition. I do question if Alfie Jones is mobile enough for holding midfield. He is a strong lad, but does lack pace. All in all a great evenings entertainment and it was a real treat to watch Jaidee Coaching from the sideline. Very impressed and no bad language. Model professional.

In my opinion the Man U goal shouldn't have counted. In the run up Lukaku clearly fouls Hoedt to create the space and disorientated the defender. It clever because the ref won't see it. The linesman could have seen it, but rarely give them. Hoedt will learn from this and must get physically stronger to deal with those situations.

Whilst it's pleasing to get 3 points and a win, let's not forget that Crystal Palace missed 2 fantastic chances, which better teams would have buried. Yes we dominated possession, but how many good chances did we create? I like what I see in Lemina and Hoedt but for me our lack of cutting edge and killer pass greatly concerns. Redmond plays every minute, but is a poor decision maker.

Eric Black will play an important role in communicating his roles and responsibilities at Southampton.

The club is run by the board. Toby Steele is CFO and MD.

Backroom staff, all those in favour..Hands up for Sammy Lee
Andy Durman replied to patred44's topic in The Saints
Sammy Lee is a gentleman and I would most definitely welcome him back. I just don't think it will happen. -
I find it all rather hilarious. The club hold secret talks. Al parties keep council. No leaks. We speculate. The media speculate. I speculate. Logic tells you that agreement with a certain party had been reached prior to the sacking of Puel. Southampton are professionals, with huge experience. They know what they're doing. How can anyone criticise without fact.

You compete by developing your own players

Saints have already chosen their new manager. They will inform us when it is right to do so.

Why does the club fall apart every summer ?

The club doesn't fall apart every summer. It's only some people on this forum. Read fact not speculation. React only to official statements. -
