Hughes has an impressive CV and his experience probably is sensible at this time.

When do Saints ever do what you’d expect
-
Beginning to think that Da Silva is on his way and not Hughes.

I can’t see us losing. I can see us winning if we play the correct system and players in the correct positions. 4-4-2 McCarthy Cedric Stephens Hoedt Bertrand Redmond Lemina Hojbjerg Sims Carillo (Long) Gabbi

Romeu instead of Hojbjerg = slow build up play Play Carillo on his own up front = isolation This manager sets up defensively. He’s so scared about losing that he sets us up not to lose. Pellegrino has to be more offensive. He has to be more positive. He has to be sacked.

No Hojbjerg or JWP??? Laughable
-
Never celebrated a win quite like that. Lived every second and just new Wigan would win. Amazing game of football. Believe anything is possible.
-
Beating a team 3 times in a season is an achievement
-
So disrespectful. Credit to the manager for bringing Sims on.

Look at the stats until we were 2-0. WBA have to come at us so of course the game changes. Bertrand was just instinctive to get back onto the line and head away. Brilliant and for that alone we deserve to win. Shots on goal mean nothing. Biggest stat is we scored 1 more than they did. Romeu is part of the problem. Højbjerg is the solution. Note how we stopped passing when he went of. Gabbiadini was a disgrace. Is he unfit. Not enough work rate. Sims made a fantastic impact. The defence dealt with the long ball well.

How do we counter the pace of Liverpool? Think a lot will be upset when Stephens is dropped, but Mays is the fastest option, although prone to a cock up
-
Stephens defensively gets bullied in aerial duels. He has to overcome his height deficiencies if he gonna become a top defender.
-
So Pellegrino tries to be proactive and is criticized. He used his plan B. He was reactive to what we expected. The guy can’t win at the moment. But win he did. Well done Pelligrino.

Not a technical good player. A good finisher, but poor decision maker. Lots to improve on and 26 years old. A lot of money and I have reservations that he’ll be too isolated. He will finish crosses.
-
Puel spoke about Redmond as the next Henry. We needed a fast No. 9 and as Gabbiadini was tiring I was crying out for Redmond to play up top. So what happens.......

Wow! Tremendous strength in depth. Absolutely buzzing after that pile of sh*t

Finally a simple post that summarizes perfectly.

The Telegraph article has been well written. Sensible reason, instead of this black white I mostly read on this forum..

I enjoyed the read and the YouTube commentary. I think you capture the fans concensus of opinion excellently. Les Reed have a read. Of course with all the analysis at Southampton they will know exactly the problems. The biggest concern is why they continue to the same mistakes, without ever having a plan A, B, C..... Dave Merrington for Manager.

This season I would only except the return of Koeman, who Knows the ‘Southampton Way’. MP is clearly learning on the job and this will take time. He needs to learn faster and learn from his mistakes, not allow them to happen again and again. He is fresh and against the elite coaches, seemingly naive. I believe MP can be an elite coach, but his head on the line and there really is so much at stake on a young coaches shoulders. I for one hope he succeeds, because his success is our success. I hope he have strong shoulders and unquestionably belief in himself.

If the defender doesn’t pull Gabbiadini’s shirt then we equalize. I totally agree that both Palace goals could have been avoided with better organization and football intelligence. Note on the second goal how Steve Davis joins the defensive back line. He’s just come on and has left a massive hole. Hoedt not starting was a huge loss and Jack Stephens has been found out. However 2 decisions also haven’t helped.
-
Clear penalty on Gabbiadini and first Crystal Palace goal is offside.

I have no complaints with Austin getting retrospectively band, but what gets me are the double standards. Vardi clearly had intent to hurt VVD and yet inexplicably receives nothing.

Sad a real likeable chap and I wish him well in the future, wherever that might be.
