Why so negative?? I like this line up. Full of workers 2-1 Saints
-
One player in the middle of midfield will turn defeats into victories. It really is that simple. Obviously Morgan Schneiderlin isn't available, but that's the type of player that will make a huge difference. A leader. Romeu and JWP need time to develop their games. We either accept a period of development, which will result it a bottom half finish and possibly a relegation battle or we throw money at a quick fix. The problem is that JWP, Clasie and Romeu will not get the game time experience to develop into the players we need. Thoughts

Have a very Merry Christmas from Vienna

So my point was let's make a positive thread of solutions, without negativity. Read through again. It's hard to maintain a positive attitude, when you're on a downward slide. Hard not to criticize and point fingers. How do we get the best out of VW or Bertrand? Saints need to go back and do what Saints do best. Lallana, Schneiderlin and others became excellent players because we played them week in and week out. JWP must play every game. Taggart needs to replace Bertrand whose not looked himself recently. Reed? Why not reed?

Let's have a thread that develops positive ideas on how we can overcome our recent run of bad form Remember try and use words that are not negative. It's important that we maximize the potential of our existing players. As fans we need to get behind the team and be the twelfth man.

We need new ideas. Saints have gone stale We need players who are hungry
-
I think we need to freshen things up, maybe somebody new in the back room staff. The ramifications of not spending could cost Saints a fortune.

Where's that Saint Charlie fella???? Durman Logic I didn't go today, but the writing was and is on the wall Spend wisely in January or limp on for the rest of the season. Only 1 or 2 great signings and the wheels will be back on. Get back to basic's Mr Koeman.

Worst starting 11 so far according to Who Scored
Andy Durman replied to St.Patrik's topic in The Saints
Our defence made a terrible mistake last week and it cost us the game. We actually made many mistakes during the course of the game. Last week was cumulative errors I can't blame just Yoshida, but he did allow the cross to come over Where was Bertrand? Too high up the pitch leaving our corners exposed. Look at the number of crosses in the match and you'll see the system left us exposed -
Were you at Crystal Palace St Charlie or are you a plastic fan, making your visionary comments from the Sofa. I support my team thick and thin! I watch every minute (not always live) I don't want to be positive at the moment The hope is what makes it more painful every disappointing result I will agree with you though this is Durman Logic

The question is not whether we lose, but by how many We are not good enough to trouble Tottenham. More misery predicted Koeman needs to stop playing fantasy football and instead use a system that everybody understands We can't keep changing the midfield every week
-
Let's get this correct! This result has little to do with the players (Bertrand accepted) and more to do with the coaching staff. Today was fantasy football. Who changes the system so radically before a match? How can you expect players at the highest level to gel with so many changes??? Mayo left, Fonte middle, Van Dijk right. We played a 3-4-1-2 system. We showed great respect to Crystal Palace with this formation, hoping we'd hit them on the counter attack with the speed of Long and Mane. We would have been better playing a 4-2-3-1 system and playing our own game. Unlike most I rate Gazza, but his footwork sometimes isn't quick enough. He was MOTM. Last week JWP was considered as MOTM, but he didn't make the starting 11???? If you want JWP to aspire to what we expect you have to show faith and play him week in, week out. Long one on one in the last minute must score!! All in all very disappointed. Koeman must go back to basic's or he will lose the dressing room. £40 wasted today and I expect more for my money.

I think they do this so as to not give away any training practices. I study every photo to see what they're doing
-
You can make fun of Alpine and he doesn't suggest 260 Million, but we do need to strengthen this January. Throwing money at the problem isn't the solution. I think Southampton know what they're doing.

LA77 do you still have those tickets??
-
When the going gets tough I want to be there to support my team ANYONE GOT TWO TICKETS PLEASE I want to help get 3 points
-
LA77 Yes please! Can you message me thx
-
Anybody got 2 tickets???
-
I think it's important not to waste money in January. If the right players are available, then we should spend. A strong middle midfield general would be first on my shopping list.
-
I spoke to Erwin, Ronald and many players after the match and what impressed me the most was how positive everybody outwardly spoke. Nobody criticized anybody, everybody seemed to take the pluses from the game, some couldn't wait for training on Monday. We on this forum (including myself) get too negative. We are in a phase where things are not working as we would want. It will change and we should be patient and not pile our everyday frustrations on the back of our team. It will change.

James Ward-Prowse's list of indisputable, unimprovable weaknesses
Andy Durman replied to ScepticalStan's topic in The Saints
I remember Adam Lallana receiving similar criticism. The fact is that it takes time to become a Premier League Stalwart. Experience, hard work, confidence and a bit of patience on our part. -

JWP will be a fantastic player. Exceptional ball delivery. Has been working extremely hard on becoming more physical and his 4 yellows this season are proof of this. He will only get better -
The Aston Villa goal was a comedy of errors. First Fonte makes a 10m pass to a player in the midfield who is tightly marked. I think it's Fonte's mistake because he can see what's in front of him. Aston Villa didn't press the centre backs. They held off and waited for this type of pass. We played into their hands. In this situation you stay patient or hit the ball long to Pelle and feed off the scraps or play a diagonal ball to the wingers. You play a safe option. The next error is by VVD. Yes he shows awareness, gets over quickly and blocks a dangerous cross, but the ball must go for a throw and not a corner. The corner! We weren't defending zones, but man marking. A lot of teams use a 1-2-3-4 system of defending corners. What was JWP doing running with his player when we needed somebody in position to stop such a cross. Who was in the middle? Where was the goalkeeper? We made 4 mistakes to gift Aston Villa a goal and at this level that is amateurish to say the least. If Liverpool or any other top premier league team had the chances we made in the first 20 minutes they would have finished the game. Questions must be asked about why we made so many mistakes yesterday against a very poor team.

Steklenberg ready to sign contract to stay at Saints

JWP must come into the side and put Clasie on the bench.
