I dont' blame Clough for taking the job but I am sure it will all end in tears. After a few games and little points the Derby fans will want his head. Much the same as if we got Shearer or MLT.

Rudi: Too many youngsters playing and I want away

I am saying that if I decide to slag my boss off, I should not be surpised of the consequences. -

Try slagging your boss off in the newspapers or down the pub and see how long you last with a job!! You have to get real - look at any other club, e.g. Man U or Arsenal. Any behaviour that represents the club poorly is severely dealt with. -

A sensible post at last! thanks! -
Funny you should say that. I remember some years back watching Benali nail Berkovic at Staplewood. He didn't get up for a couple of minutes until Dennis Rofe told him if he wasn't bleeding it couldn't hurt!!!

I think the issue here is his character. Most managers rate skill as less important than character with the younger players.
-
should have sold him a while ago. I see he is not even getting off the bench when his team are 5-2 up.

Would love to believe I now don't give a *hit, trouble is I do. Maybe this is just the reality of being potless. Q: Woudl a different manager get better results?

Harry and Jim, Harry and Jim, Harry and Jim.........................

Same here!! bloody brillo!

He shoots, he scores!!!! Look's like the management know what they are doing after tonights result!!
-
I don't think this game will be the result that cost us a play-off position this season!! ...but I hope it's not the one that cost us relegation.... It's still early days and we need to keep behind the team/manager, but clearly we need to fix the problem of conceding so many goals.

How did you get the invite? Peace.

As there is not much gossip and the recent break, maybe we can start another Soul Cellar thread? I think the main reason for less activity on this site is the fact most people realise the board, management and players are doing the best they can in the current environment. Personally I am looking forward to being back in Soton at the end of the month and watching a game.

I certainly don't know the reason for the low attendance. It's probably a combination of several, as stated in the thread. I am surprised the economy has been given as a reason for not going to SMS. Maybe I am now out of touch, but in previous slumps, most people would still find money for leisure activities - particularly beer and footy. Looking at Norwich, Ipswich and Coventry, it's not just about winning every game that makes fans show up. I don't know how their ticket prices compare to SMS. Again, it's too soon in the season to make a judgement on the avg attendance, but if I was responsible for ticket sales, I would be asking Norwich and Ipswich for some advice. Question: Do some some people stop going because of the ticket price, match quality, current negativity, Lowe? Something isn't right if the first home game at SMS (less than 19,000) is 5,000 less than Norwich's second game at home.... I have no agenda here, simply curious and somewhat surprised.

I found the below quite surprising; min max avg 1 Derby County 27,032 33,010 30,021 2 Sheffield United 25,273 29,226 27,250 3 Norwich City 23,727 24,229 23,978 4 Wolverhampton W 22,491 25,301 23,896 5 Ipswich Town 21,483 22,307 21,895 6 Sheffield Wednesday 17,963 23,793 20,878 7 Charlton Athletic 20,020 21,675 20,848 8 Nottingham Forest 20,005 21,571 20,788 9 Birmingham City 17,413 24,019 20,716 10 Coventry City 17,994 22,607 20,301 11 Reading 19,202 20,441 19,822 12 Cardiff City 18,032 19,749 18,891 13 Southampton 15,629 18,925 17,277 14 Bristol City 16,389 17,543 16,966 15 Swansea City 16,611 16,702 16,657 16 Watford 14,413 16,345 15,379 17 Queens Park Rangers 14,964 15,536 15,250 18 Crystal Palace 14,071 15,614 14,843 19 Barnsley 12,987 14,223 13,605 20 Preston North End 12,089 14,225 13,157 21 Plymouth Argyle 9,203 14,789 11,996 22 Doncaster Rovers 11,806 11,873 11,840 23 Burnley 10,032 11,312 10,672 24 Blackpool 8,244 8,611 8,428

Prior to Burley, I would want the Jocks to do well. It's a different story for me now. Looks like a hot one today Tim!

Henderson is still at SFC. You may be thinking of Huw Jennings - he went to the PL

Saved it from what? Sky put the footy on TV and in return make a bag of money. Some of this money is given back to football. Has it helped your local team? has it helped the national team? Do you like going to games on a Saturday evening or sunday afternoon?

Is the Premiership the promised land for the Saints?
Redondo Saint replied to Long Shot's topic in The Saints
There may well be the day that each club becomes a franchise owned by wealthy individuals. Money will decide which team stays in whatever league they chose. Just look at sport in the USA. The NFL and NBA have no teams relegated or promoted. The only important thing is TV audiences and possibly the finals (more TV revenue!). In my opinion it's a circus. Listen to Man City's Exec Chairman (Garry Cook) and he is already planting the seed....
