  1. Yeah OK, but that also shows the ridiculous nature of privatising an industry and continuing to subsidise it. You could just as well argue that we're using the public purse to pay dividends to shareholders.
  2. Wouldn't the train driver deal be paid for by the franchise owner? I'm not sure on the junior doctors either.
  3. According to reuters: https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-public-sector-workers-get-above-inflation-pay-rises-worth-9-billion-pounds-2024-07-29/#:~:text=LONDON%2C July 29 (Reuters),the government said on Monday. So I assume that's the 9 billion you were talking about.
  4. Obviously the pay deals for doctors and teachers are a political choice but they were the figures recommended by the independent pay review bodies. Not 100% on this but I think the Tories had signed up to implement the recommendations of the pay review bodies as well.
  5. Fucking Marxist cats that don't respect private property - that's the problem.
  6. AND THEY'RE EATING DOGS!
  7. Can I come up with one in two weeks time? Sorry, I know, predictable and all that but it's an open goal........
  8. Out of all that guff did you actually answer what your definition of Marxism was? No, because you haven't a clue. Crack on though, it's not like anyone takes you seriously.
  9. I'd be interested in your definition of Marxist because it's not the same as mine. For a start no Marxist would ever sign up for a capitalist free market economy and would propose mass nationalisation. As far as I'm aware neither Starmer, Harris or Trump for that matter are talking about dismantling their capitalist economies. So stop banging on about Marxist this and Marxist that when clearly it's not - makes you look a bit stupid.
  10. Nah, it’ll be Badenoch and Cleverly.
  11. 30M compensation for Maresca? Did I read that wrong or did that really happen? That’s just mental
  12. In terms of numbers we're still pretty stacked in wide areas whether that's wide in a three or more traditional winger type. By my reckoning there's Cornet, Fraser, BBD, Armstrong, Sam Amo. Aribo can and has done a job there as well and I think I recall that Manning plays wide left for Ireland. Decent case that not all of them are great options but then neither is Sulemana. I can't see us deliberately keeping hold of Sulemana if we have an opportunity to shift him out on loan.
  13. Been disappointed with BBD so far. Early days and all that but he doesn’t look great out on the left.
  14. Completely agree about moving it quicker. The thing that frustrates me the most isn't so much the playing it round the back but that when we do break the press we hardly ever take advantage of it. I actually think we'd be a much better counter attacking team than a possession based one.
  15. Team looks set up to try and keep a clean sheet and a draw would be a good result. KWP will need to watch the inverted fullback stuff as Brentford love to exploit those gaps. I'm guessing Armstrong got the nod as RM trusts him more on the defensive stuff but both him and Diaz will need to make more of the limited chances we create.
  16. 6 seems too low and 7 too high, so 6.5. Defence is much better with Ramsdale and Sugawara looks to be a good buy especially for the money paid. Taylor is a solid signing with experience so that looks a good deal too. Not sure about Edwards and Wood - definitely very cheap but not sure they'll play much and if they ain't playing then it's hard to argue they've improved the starting 11. Signing Downes was essential but doesn't feel like an upgrade cos we had him last year. Fernandes looks like he could be decent although I've got a slight concern whether he's physical enough. Big Les didn't impress me too much against Cardiff and for a player of his size I expected him to dominate much more - needs to show more workrate. Dibling impresses me a lot but he should be an option from the bench. Lots of questions out wide and up front. BBD, Archer and Cornet could all be decent and at least one of them will need over perform if we're to survive. Main doubts are whether we have enough creativity. There's a few that could step up but none that are nailed on to do it and I can see us huffing and puffing a fair bit, controlling possession but not creating enough clear cut chances. Probably an 8 out of 10 window for what we've done for Goztepe though.
  17. Jeez, you seem to think one performance against Cardiff reserves and Big Les is the second coming. Kind of thing that's worth bookmarking for later.
  18. With the exception of Downes, take your pick. Big Les didn't look that great to me against Cardiff reserves so that spot for a start.
  19. I'm not the biggest fan of JWP but of course he'd have started.
  20. Yeah, but not a major injury and back in training now. Probably isn’t off but not sure the injury is the reason why
  21. Cornet signing could mean Sulemana is off, might give us some cash for a striker…. Cutting it fine though
  22. I'll take the injured one please
  23. Don't know. Do they still have that big lump of a forward who only ever scores against us? German or bought from a German side anyway.
  24. Yeah, left wing too. Burnley did move him up front at one stage and I thought he did quite well and scored a few crackers. Not the kind of thing we should be looking at right now though.
  25. Everyone says Oasis are a Beatles tribute act but honestly never really seen it that way. Can't say I'm a massive fan of the Beatles but most of their songs sound completely different to Oasis IMO. Anyway, fair play if they want to reform for a few gigs - it'll make quite a few people happy.
